Freshness is a problem here. As soon as that overcooked rice enters your mouth you know something isnt quite right. The ingredients are disproportionate in the rolls. Overall the freshness of the ingredients is not what it needs to be. I will not go back to Daruma. TIP: For all sushi lovers, you can learn a lot about the freshness of a sushi bar based on the wasabi, if the wasabi melts into the soy sauce upon entry... the wasabi is fresh and can be a good indication of things to come. If the wasabi has trouble breaking up in the soy sauce and refusing to blend into the soy sauce it could be a sign of things to come. At Daruma, Ive never seen wasabi so resistant to the sauce. Hope this helps.

I cannot comment on the service because I took my order to go but I can say that they told me over the phone that it would take 15 minutes, I got there 15 minutes later and my food was waiting for me. The decor was really nice which surprised me. And most importantly, the food was delicious. I have never had sushi in Englewood before (live here 3 years.)[tuna pizza, crunchy spicy tuna, dreams come true roll, veggie gyoza] Will definitely be coming back. 1 negative, its as expensive as any sushi place in the city

Easily the best sushi in Englewood. And just as good as any of the best in NYC. I often defer eating in the city, grab a fantastic meal at Daruma, then head to the city for after dinner activities. Plus its BYO, so its a bargain. The food is superb, the house rolls are the best Ive had (Im comparing not only to NYC but SF and towns of similar caliber), the service is great, the atmosphere is enjoyable. Its all good.

This restaurant is fantastic. The food is delicious, creative and extremely fresh. The service it top notch and very helpful. If you dont know what you are in the mood for they will find you something perfect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a good sushi place for a while locally. After almost 2 year we finally found one. They never fail. Gets crowded fast on weekends due to reservations and people waiting. Best to go during non busy hours.

Great selection of maki, fresh sushi, and good, friendly service. Just enough variety and non-traditional sushi and Japanese fare on the menu to keep it interesting. Its been a solid favorite over the years.

Nice people, fresh sushi, inventive dishes, you really cant ask for anything more outside the city...and the best part is they will park your favorite bottle of whatever for you cuz its BYOB.

Great decorations, calm environments. Good service, prices are at the higher range. A chicken katsu that comes with soup, salad, fried chicken and 4 slices of orange is $14.
