Yesterday I went with two long time friends to Nagahama Sushi to celebrate a dear friends birthday. I had bought her a $100 gift card and this would be the first time we would be able to use it. First the good - the food is excellent and easily compares to anything else around. Ive been here several times and would definately return for the food alone. I would definately return despite the negative points below; the food is simply that good. We had sushi, tempura and a slew of appetiziers, all done to perfection. The negative - when we tried to pay, the manager told us there was a zero balance on the unused gift card. Fortunately we had both the gift receipt and the credit card I used for the gift card. We waited a half hour for this to be sorted out. The manager was very apologetic, and said that this happened frequently, apparenyly so we wouldnt take it personally. He even showed us a list of accounts in which he had similar problems. I dont know what would have happened if we didnt bring the gift receipt and if I didnt have access to my credit card account. I would recommned this place, despite the gift card debacle but Id strongly advise against buying their gift cards.

I love blowing my parents money. However, I did not enjoy blowing it this time around. It really was not worth it. The food is incredibly expensive for the amount that you get. The quality is good, albeit not worth what you are paying for. There are a plethora of other Asian cuisine places near by, at least half of which I believe are better. The only reason that I did not one star is because of the free green tea, and the fact that the service is not horrible.

We happened upon Nagahama on a rainy day walk during our Long Beach vacation. Being Japanese food lovers, we felt fortunate to find this charming place. Great sushi and other native dishes, especially the Hamachi Kama (broiled yellowtail neck), friendly staff and good vibe all around. We see from the other reviews it can get pretty crowded, but late in the lunch hour, we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Will definitely return next summer!

The decor is nothing to get excited about and the sushi does not compare to the top sushi restaurants of Manhattan but the Ramen is divine. I am not certain if they make the noodles in house and it truly does not matter when they come swimming in bowl of rich savory broth that comes with chicken or pork.

The Worst food and service. They absolutely messed up our order, we waited forever (with 2 kids) and the food was not too good. They could at least have been apologetic, but they were not. It was a very bad experience - restaurant was better several years ago, but I will not return!

I would give it zero stars. Fish is very low grade, definitely overpriced for the quality of fish. Fake crab meat in rolls described in the menu as a snow crab. $1.25 extra for each! roll for brown rice. Place is a joke.
