From a 7th grader: Scallion Pancakes are the highlight of the Open Rice experience. The slight crunch when you bite into it makes you keep coming back for more. The dish comes with 6 slices of heaven with a side bowl with soy sauce. Which gives the pancake just the right amount of flavor to meet perfection. The pancake is eaten by hand instead of with silverware. Open Rice gives off a peaceful feeling of being at home. As soon as you enter the owner greets you with a warm smile, brings you menus and seats you right away. The waiters are excellent and the food comes out in the blink of an eye and is never underdone. At no time do you have to get up to ask for something everyone comes to you first. They serve a variety of Japanese cuisine and Pan Asian dishes. You see Asian and Japanese restaurants everywhere but at Open Rice there is both. With their original dishes and service this restaurant exceeds expectations of a the common restaurant. With fast service you usually sacrifice quality of food, but open rice has a balance. The edamame and miso soup are the perfect pair. A hot soup that warms ones insides and a perfect lightly salted green. The soup has just the right amount of flavor that isn’t overwhelming or underseasoned. When ill this soup is superb, as it slides down your throat easily and feels healing. Szechuan Peppercorn Chicken is a heavenly dish with peppers, mushrooms, cauliflower, and broccoli topped with a silky sauce that is just delightful. It is a huge portion and can be a meal for two, and appropriate someone who can handle spice. Open rice is family-friendly restaurant and favorable for times when you need to be in and out. It has extremely fast service and cares about their customers. I was pleased with my experience and will doubtlessly come back. I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars because of the fast service the great food and comfortable space. It would be a 5 out of 5 if it had some more unique items on the menu and the food had a flawless presentation and the restaurant was above and beyond any restaurants I have ever been to.

We ordered delivery Chicken Pad Thai, Coconut Curry Shrimp and Chicken Malaysian Style, Tuna Avocado Roll. One of THE THREE shrimp in the coconut curry was very fishy, the tuna avocado roll was fishy enough to throw out after one tasting. Pad thai was okay. Overall the meal was very oily. Delivery time was respectable. The selection of "good" for decor was selected because GOOGLE would not allow the post to be published without making a selection and they do not offer N/A or DELIVERY. We do not know what the decor of the establishment is, weve never been in it. Google may want to consider a selection of DELIVERY people are not mislead.

I wanted to go to Kits Thai Kitchen, but discovered it was closed down! I still wanted Asian food, so I settled for Open Rice instead. Being new to Stamford, I dont know that many places yet that serve what I wanted. The service was really quick, the people in there were friendly and when I got home, the pineapple fried rice with chicken was delicious! I would definitely recommend it. Most people might prefer take-out or delivery, since the seating - while nice - is fairly sparse.

Last couple times the fish clearly was not fresh... Fresh fish should not smell "fishy". The lady taking orders can be a little rude (I was embarrassed for her the way she was treating a customer in front of me). Out of convenience we have been there on many occasions, but I clearly see a downward trend. There for the last time last week when multiple fish on our sushi plate were not unedible.

Used to be the go-to for good quality food. Last three times though has gone downhill fast. Long waits for take-out (even giving 30 minutes still waited an additional half hour...and quick takeout takes an hour to prep).
