Ive been to two Mexican places since living in NOVA. This place was one and El Vaquero West Restaurant was the other. Ive been trying to find the best authentic Mexican in the area. I came from an area where Mexican food was absolutely fantastic. After visiting these two places, I am so confused. They had nearly an identical menu. Im not sure if they have the same owner or just the same menu designer. Everything was pretty much the same but the prices at La Parrillada were 15 - 25 % higher. Many of the same pictures...all the combinations were the same. Im afraid to go to another restaurant here in fear of coming across the same terrible menu. Food here was not very good. I had an appetizer of Chicken Nachos and the chicken was very bland, dry and inedible. The chips, despite being placed under a broiler were soggy and unappetizing. I ordered two burritos with chicken and salsa verde. They were confused by the order and because the server couldnt even comprehend the menu, I knew i wouldnt get what I ordered. I just wanted two burritos with chicken and green sauce on top. I got the green sauce but the burritos were ground beef and not chicken. I didnt correct them of their error because the chicken before had been so terrible. The only highlight of the meal was the ground beef...it was fantastic and didnt taste at all like ground beef you usually get from Mexican places. I never order ground beef because its usually terrible...but Id happily do so from this location. Service was okay, but I waited longer for my check than I did for my appetizer and entree.

I love this place!!! Being Hispanic, I can definitely appreciate their food. 1st the staff is super friendly and quick. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes for my food, no matter at what time of the day I go. The owners are very friendly as well and are always very grateful to us for coming back. The food is delicious!!! It looks good and it tastes good and the portions are great. I am happy with the prices, I mean if you want really cheap Mexican like food you can always go to Taco Bell... but this is a restaurant. Yes they do have the same menu as El Vaquero Rest in Haymarket, because they own both restaurants. Maybe the prices vary because of the location? I highly recommend this Mexican Restaurant!!!

Authentic, good mexican food. Hard to compare when you are spoiled with the authentic food back home in CA. This is the best restaurant in this area for the cuisine. Go here, bring the family. Culture in the atmosphere and displayed on the walls and in the warmth of their staff. Not too spicy, and not to bland. Come see for yourself! P.S. it is super affordable
