Came here for my birthday, after we got seated we waited a good 10-15 minutes before anyone even came over to bring us water. Our waitress brought us 3 breadsticks, and took our order. I clearly said no bacon on my pasta, she repeated it so I assumed she heard. we waited 40 minutes for our food, during this time she did not refill our water, bring any more breadsticks or come by, then she brought our food, mine was covered with bacon, I wouldnt have minded if it was anything else, but I dont eat pork. I pointed it out to her and she just looked at me, said sorry thats my fault, and didnt take it back. I had to tell her to take it back because I couldnt eat it. She was expecting me to just say its okay and take it as it was. Waited another 20 minutes for our food. I asked her for breadsticks while I was waiting, she didnt bring any at all and I didnt see her again until my food came back out..by this time we had been at olive garden for over an hour and just wanted to leave already. I quickly ate my food, still no more breadsticks other than the original 3 we got when we were seated. At one point she told us she would comp my meal for the mix up but then when we got the check, she not only didnt give us any discount for the mix up, she charged us for 2 drinks that we didnt even order. I have never complained at a restaurant but by this point it was just ridiculous. I pointed it out to the manager and he was very nice, the only nice person in that restaurant! he apologized and we didnt have to pay for our food. Even though it was free I still wish I had never gone there to begin with, made for a horrible birthday dinner. The people need a lesson in service, its mostly high school kids working here so they dont really care or have a reason to work hard to keep their jobs.

My experience today at Olive Garden in Ankeny was very poor. I was disappointed that I chose to take my family their. We had three children, it literally took 35 min to receive our food. Do you know how hard it is to make children wait that long for their food? It makes my time out stressful and not enjoyable. Our server was never around when needed something. There was two other servers that kept stepping into refill our drinks or get us ketchup. The kids ended up getting cold macaroni and bad pasta. They didnt eat it. (We had to pay for their meal plus take them through a drive through after because they were still hungry.) When we received the he asked if everything was ok? We proceeded to tell him that we were disappointed in how it took over 30 min to get our food HE JUST SMERKED AND SAID YEAH. No sorry nothing. We paid the bill and noticed that we were charged for substitute shrimp that we didnt have. It took 5 min to get his attention to get him to fix it. He takes forever to get refund. Then literally brings $2.99 back. Anyone in the industry would know that it was taxed. You have to return the amount plus tax. This trip was stressful and not an enjoyable night out.

Last week we had the best experience here. I came in with my sister, her fiancé and their child and was pleased to have the most positive server that night. While we were seated we noticed this gentlemen named Zach rushing around trying to find out if we had been taken care of and we kindly said "not yet, its totally fine you seem busy". He stoped what he was doing to take our orders for drinks and decided to take our table after already working since 8 Am and it was clearly almost 10pm. We felt bad that he was about to clock out and insisted on helping us make sure we had the best dinner even if it meant him having to stay late. He was so friendly and even recommended us on some deals. He does so much and loves his job even on those long nights. Thank you Zach for everything you did and continue to do.

The server couldnt answer any questions about the menu. She sat down at our table when we were ordering which was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable. The food tasted great until I found a long black hair in my noodles. I told the manager about the hair and he apologized and took it off the check. The server didnt mention the hair until I brought it up. She said when someone finds a hair in their food they should put a lot of salt on top of the plate to make sure the kitchen didnt just take out the hair and then bring it back. I had to get a box for my food because I was too grossed out to eat it. I feel like the kids meals are overpriced as well. Especially when adding chicken its an additional cost. Not many healthy choices offered for kids.

Our server was entirely awful. It took her 25 minutes to come and just take our drink order. She did not bring any breadsticks for us to snack on at all while we waited for our food and when my friend asked about it she got snapped at. It took way too long to get our soup or salads when it usually comes right away. My friend asked for the salad dressing on the side for her salad and that request was unmet. Instead the waitress had the sauce for her fettuccine alfredo put on the side instead of on her noodles which does not make sense for a request anyways. All of our food tasted fantastic but the service was awful and is making me wonder whether it is worth the money to eat at this Olive Garden again.

Our waitress was awful. She slammed our dishes down on the table, stacked dirty dishes and the empty breadstick containers on top of one another instead of just clearing our table as needed. We had to wait on things longer than we normally do. She had no polite tone in her voice whatsoever and had no manners. She was rude and acted like she hated her job. And my food was horrible today. All of the lettuce was white, there was no green in it whatsoever! And my eggplant Parmesan and spaghetti with marinara sauce tasted leftover. This is by far the worst experience at the Olive Garden Ive ever had. With all of the dining options in Ankeny, I dont think Ill waste my time with the Olive Garden again.
