This was our first visit to Cork & Table. Being foodies and wine lovers, we were excited to try another restaurant being run by an owner who is both the Chef and a Sommelier . Pros: Our meal took approximately two hours from start to finish and was clearly a "dining experience." Perfect spacing/timing between the appetizers, salads and main course. All of the food was well prepared, superbly presented and delicious. We started with one a half order of the Mushroom and Goat cheese flatbread and Brie. Followed with three salads...a Smoked Duck Breast, Organic Greens Salad and the Bacon and Blue Cheese. The main courses were the Wagu Beef Medallions paired with a very nice Au Gratin potato dish and Seared Tuna. All were cooked to perfection and most enjoyable. The atmosphere was welcoming, easy and very bistro like. Our two servers were attentive and continued to check on us over the course of the meal, to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Cons: I fully expected our red wine selection to be served at a proper temperature. I was both surprised and disappointed when our server brought us the bottle, which I noticed had simply been stored, upright on the shelf. Chef Fallon, being a Sommelier, should know better. I cannot for one moment fathom he would find acceptable, being presented a bottle of wine at a "finer dining" type establishment. which was both stored incorrectly and at the wrong temperature. Subsequently, we asked our server to chill the red wine down in a bucket of ice water for about 10 minutes. When she did bring it to us, it was still slightly warm (it had possible been in a bucket of ice, but not ice water), but she provided a cooling sleeve for the table, which helped as the meal went forward. Cork & Table is not alone in its improper serving of red wine. Sadly, the majority of the upper end restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg fall into the same trap. I fail to understand why, if you are going to offer a level of finer dining, why more of the restaurateurs dont have the foresight to invest in some type of wine cooler or Euro Cave in order to ensure wines are served properly. The Brie appetizer. The Brie was a nice sized wedge, ice cold when brought to the table, and I concluded it had just come out of the refrigerator. Again, Chef Fallon should know better. I assume he is fully cognizant of the need for cheese to be served at room temperature in order to obtain the full experience of flavor and texture it has to offer. The above said, we will return. In all likelihood I will have to request the wine be chilled before being served. If partaking of either of the cheese appetizers again, I will make it a point to query the server before ordering.

My new favorite place. The service isnt fast, but its good and thats awesome because it gives you time to digest each course. The portions are not huge and overly large like so many places these days, but they are just enough. We had a the prixe-fix 4 course dinner without wine for $34/each. I had the crab and corn soup (served in a small teacup) that was chock full of crab, corn, potatoes. The second course was salad with a delicious, almost drinkable Dijon dressing. It came with bleu cheese, but they very nicely subbed ghost cheese for me since I dont like bleu. The entree that we ordered was steak with roasted veggies and potatoes. OMG. The BEST steak Ive had in my life. So tender, juicy and well seasoned. Im not really big on beef dishes, but this was beyond superb. The veggies were a perfect side. The best part of the meal was the dessert. I had the crème brulee, and it honestly brought tears to my eyes. The crust was just right. The crème was luscious and creamy and chock full of vanilla. It was an experience. The funny thing was that several folks at different tables had dessert at the same time and you could hear everyone exclaiming over it.

The first weekend outing after the blizzard and we had a reservation for 8. Because Restaurant Week had been extended, the crowd was out in full force so we had to wait for a table. The owner brought us glasses of wine to enjoy while we waited. And, we were able to customize our restaurant week menu from the regular menu. Amazing! The owner and staff were fun and knowledgeable about every item we inquired about. Substitutions were permitted with no pushback. That made for a lovely dining experience. The sea bass was prepared perfectly and melted in my mouth. The spice cake dessert was served with cranberries and mascarpone cheese that complemented the cake nicely. Such a lovely evening. This will be my favorite downtown Fredericksburg dining spot from here on. Other entrees, such as the grilled organic chicken and the steak, were raved about, as well. And, because we were seated so late, we stayed well past closing with no stares or animosity. Such a good evening!

Called to ask for donation for a community event in the area that I am hosting with over 400 virginians coming. Person over the phone was rude and disrespectful. First phone call gentleman hung up on me and the 2nd phone call the same gentleman explained to me that this was a resturaunt like i was an idiot and advised he had no time to deal with me. Completely rude. I will never eat here solely due to this gentleman and his rudeness. No other business in the area have said no or spoken to me in the manner he just did. - Utterly Apauled.

What a fabulous space with excellent staff and a creative menu! We have been here so many times in the last few months. The last time was my birthday when chef created a special menu with my husband just for me and our friends (GF for me!). Wow can that chef dish it out! The wine pairing was spot-on. You have got to try this little restaurant before the secret gets out- you wont be disappointed!

The food was excellent and the servers were not only good at their jobs but also pleasant. The fixed price menu, which is four courses, is well worth the cost. They do have small plates and you can order off the fixed menu if you just want to have one course. I highly recommend this place and plan on returning

Usually I dont order beef at restaurants, because I can source excellent beef from my local butcher, and cook it better than many restaurants. For $20+ its not worth the risk. Im glad I made an exception here for their Wagu.

Wine bistro without the pretentious frills. A la cart lunch with a courses option at dinner paired perfectly with affordable fine wines. Great selection of wines for retail purchase as well.

Creative menu without being pretentious. The wine flights with small plates are great. Really enjoyed the fixed price 4 course dinner and wine pairings.

Food is great, but the location is kinda tough to get to. Their "front door" has been in a different place all three times Ive been there.
