The positives can include one very nice waitress, lovely music, and relaxed atmosphere. The hot pomagranate tea was very good. The negatives however... include two out of the three seen employees barely acknowledged our presence. One of them proceeded to ignore us and sit down to chat with some friends of his that came into the restaurant. One other was nice enough to get our drinks only to follow up by plugging in his phone at the table behind us and playing on it while customers were around! Im all for relaxed environments, but thats taking it too far. The one person that seemed to want to appear as if she worked for a living took good care of us despite. If you are looking for true authentic turkish fair, this is not it. Its cheap knock off imitation. The sausages are from the breakfast freezer section at your local grocery store, as is the mini shrimp and tomato dish they claim is worth $12. Cheese is used as a filler to make dishes appear bigger than they are. They were nice enough to remake my meal without cheese (as i am allergic to it) and did not charge me for the half sized portion ....however, in the process did not bring me my rice and side salad that came with my meal. I had high hopes for the hummus and pita bread....both failed miserably. The hummus was terrible and there was no true pita bread, just cheap, cold, dry white bread similar to the $1.99 options in a kroegers bakery section. I hate to give negative reviews but i am by no means a food snob. I also dont blame restaurants for my allergy issues. We tried a different restaurant, it didnt work out, oh well.

We went for dinner. The best part of the experience was the staff who were very nice. One piece of advice would be not to allow customers see you on your cell phone - even through the curtain to the kitchen. The lentil soup needed some kind of yogurt/cream sauce in it, and the overwhelming flavor was heavy cumin. The appetizer of eggplant and potato was nice. The Aegean salad had a nice flavor, but it was small for a $6 salad. In comparison with other kabob restaurants in Cville: Afghan Kabob offers a nice salad for free with your meal, and Basils salads are bigger, and tastier (although Basil does charge more for their salads). As far as kabobs go, the meat -both the chicken and the lamb - was good quality meat; however, there was a lack of spice, so they lacked flavor. The bread that came with the meal was perhaps the highlight - it was great! For a downtown restaurant, the wine list was lacking, and our wine was a basic white without much interest. All in all the food in general had NO "wow!" factor, and the dinner prices were high for the amount of food that was served. We may try it again, but they need to step their game, especially for a restaurant in the Downtown area.

This place is magnificent! Everything they offer is top-notch, deliciously prepared and all their dishes are cooked with fresh ingredients and flavorful spices. Sultan Kebab offers authentic Turkish dishes, including beverages from Turkey such as coffee, hot teas and fruit juices. The whole dining experience feels like you have traveled to the Mediterranean and just had the best Turkish meal of your life! The food is so amazing that you can’t help but come back repeatedly to enjoy something else on the menu. This restaurant is perfect for an intimate dinner date, a family celebration, a business lunch, etc. The staff is very welcoming and quite friendly. Food comes to your table very quickly and you are served ample portions for your enjoyment. They have recently moved to a larger location in downtown and it is beautiful and spacious inside. This restaurant is top on my list of best restaurants to dine in Charlottesville.

Great place to eat. All of what we ate had lots of flavor. We had to try the coffee with the delights. The delights were great Im not a fan of the coffee. Very very strong. I knew it was gonna be strong but wow didnt realize that strong. :) If you enjoy coffee you have to try it at least once. Rice pudding was super yummy too. Staff was very friendly as well. I read a post about them being on their phones (?) come on its their place they can do what they want. Them being on their phones did not hurt the service.

The owners are Turkish and they ship items from Turkey that are not available in America. The food is authentic and delicious and just as tasty as in Turkey. They even have the apple tea that is served to visitors in the Grand Bazaar. Love this place and will be returning in the future.

Caught a pre-concert dinner. Great food and friendly service, Perfect spot right off the downtown mall -practically next to Live Arts, the Paramount and the Jefferson. Everyone ordered something different so we could try different dishes-all good and not expensive.

Wonderful service. The waiter was very good at attending my mom, who is one of those indecisive customers that change their mind mid-order. The food was delicious, and the vegan option I ordered was full of exquisite flavor.

Lovely and friendly place with gracious portions and authentic Turkish cuisine. Kisir (a kind of cold appetizer) was amazing and kofte juicy and filling. Definitely on the to-do list for our next trip to Charlottesville

The meal was lacking in spices. It was extremely bland for Turkish food. The lamb was tough and over cooked. Extremely disappointed give the price of the meal. The only highlight was the very nice and kind wait staff.

Less vegetarian options but the taste is really good. The cost is slightly expensive for everyday lunch. Need more falafel dishes. Staff is good. Overall worth a visit occasionally.

Excellent food. The space has a sense of occasion but is low-key at the same time. Plan on coming back frequently.
