DO NOT eat at this restaurant. All four of our meals were un-eatable-I am not kidding. I ordered the Seafood Pasta (chesepeake something)--it tasted like stale bread--the seafood was dry and I think old---I had the initial bite and could not even stand to try another. My husband order the red snapper, he joked it could have bounced off the wall if he threw it--it literally wouldnt cut. Our friend order the salmon, which was burned and dry and our other friend order the NY Strip---it was the worst cut of strip I have ever eaten. After living years in Manhattan with SO many restaurants to blow you away, I have be weary but presently surprised with Richmonds food choices, however THREE MONKEYs is a distaster. The waitress came to take our plates and asked if we were sure we didnt want it wrapped to take home--we were all laughing...I wouldnt feed it to my dog-even if I had one. The waitress was very nice and confused and ended up bringing us a complimetnary dessert (which was delicious--um, thank you Sysco or some other food distributer b.c it was obviously not freshly baked on the premises--but was tasty). I would say, stop there for the boozing but do not spend a dime on the food---it was the worst meal I have ever been served. We did not say anything b.c my friend recommended the place and I did not want to seem snooty---however, in any other situation, I would have certainly voiced my distaste. BEWARE! LOL

After a good walk around Maymont, we were looking for a good place to eat. Unfortunately, we had a terrible ending to an otherwise decent meal. Atmosphere was nice and good selection of Virginia draft beer. My family, all 8 of us, enjoyed 2 apps and couple beers each. Jumbolya was more like a pasta marinara, but tasty. Unfortunately, appetizers took 25 min and food arrived just after salads were served. We dealt with that. My sister-in-law received her steak dinner about 5-10 minutes after the rest of us and was cooked medium well/well instead of medium. We all looked at it and agreed. They recooked a new steak, which she had to order medium rare. It arrived 15 min after we finished. When the $200 bill came, I asked the manager to take the steak off the bill because it was very late and they overlooked first one. Another waitress came over and said we should have paid for 2 steaks instead of 1. She never eat more than 1 steak. She argued that she is not the owner and unable to help us. We were infuriated but had no choice but to take out of waitress tip. Another waitress chased us out and said "you are never to come back here". I can appreciate that comment if we were rude, but that is not the case here. I hope the owner understands how is restaurant is being managed in his absence. We will never return and we will not recommend to anyone.

While this may be an enjoyable bar, I can not recommed it for brunch. We left the 30 minute wait at a nearby establishment to come here which had a 15 minute wait. We were seated quickly and placed our orders. That was a positive. In retrospect, I would not have choosen this establishment because it was so loud. Consistent with its bar atmosphere, this is not a place to enjoy a quaint, charming brunch. I own that it was my choice to come here. However, in the middle of our brunch, my family member noticed a "concern" in their coffee. We calmly spoke with the waitress. It was certainly not her fault. To our disappointment the manager/owner never came and spoke with us directly. We did receive our mimosa pitcher and coffee complimentary. Thankful for that because that shows thst they tried to make it right. Also manger/owner was going to check the coffee machines. All things considered, 3 Monkeys is primarily a bar and not recommended for brunch.

Blonde waitress was one of the rudest people I had ever met. She took over 30 minutes to bring drinks, and when we tried to order a second round before the end of happy hour (about 7:30), she took her sweet time (another 30 minutes or so) to deliver them. Upon bringing us our drinks a couple of us realized she had not even remembered to ring our drinks in. When we tried to get her attention she visibly rolled her eyes at us. When she brought out the checks, those of us who did not recieve our drinks that we ordered at 7:30 were charged full price for them. When we tried to address this, she began to argue and say it wasnt her fault. Its really sad because this was my first time at 3 monkeys and I was really excited to try it and now i dont think Ill ever go back

Usually when I go here everything is great but my last visit was horrible...Besides my husband getting frustrated about finding a bug in his drink from bar while we waited for our carryout order ... Once I got home (without checking the food) my crab dip was over cooked and my fries were darn near burnt smh...it wasnt packed when I came in at all so I dont know what the problem was last week but I truly expected better being that this is one of my new favorite spots & besides that I surely wasnt trying to waste my money as I did

Went to Three Monkeys for lunch today and had a great meal. I ordered a monkey burger for their burger week promotion thing, and the burger was great. What really blew me away was my server. Her name was Keyra and she was awesome. Always smiling and she was on top of her game. It was also a plus that she was gorgeous, but that is besides the point. I definitely recommend anybody that works or lives near this place to go here for lunch if you havent already.

Even if youre not a big fan of soda, get some here, they always have a higher syrup to soda water ratio, which makes for bangin rum and cokes. The food, though ranging from either massive amounts to average depending on the chefs whim, is average. The food is big in quality, but if you want quality, look elsewhere. I am also not okay with the bathroom sink on the outside of the bathrooms, or the faint smell of regret in the bar.

So Three Monkeys got a new owner again.... All us locals know what that means. Some servers totally suck so make sure you get Jeanie! She is the best server and she will take care of you amazingly. Tatiana will yell at you, just leave if you get her, you have no chance of getting a beer. The food is still tasty for a bar, but we were sad to see the monkey cocktail list got depleted. Wired Monkeys for life!

Been here twice this week. Their Tuesday Burger night is an amazing deal and the burgers are very good. Happy hour goes until 8 and drinks are reasonably priced. Had brunch today. While my prosciutto and mushroom omelet was a little salty, my friends really enjoyed their meals: breakfast pizza and chicken and waffles. Great service despite the crowds.

New Ownership with new menu and ideas for the future. The food was always good here but now it has stepped up a notch. The patio is upgraded and is a very nice place to sit for brunch, lunch and dinner. Service is very good and friendly. The new cocktail list is fantastic and wonderfully priced at happy hour.
