Visiting the desert wasteland of chain restaurants in NoVa is kind of maddening. Especially when you come from the city with a big apple. We wanted to take my Asian parents for dinner that doesn’t involve the default…Asian…Asian…buffet…buffet. Le Mediterranean Bistro billed as a French Moroccan seems like a good choice and still familiar enough for my parents. The smallish restaurant with a quaint interior in Fairfax City. We had a reservation for 7pm but waited a bit while the table finished and needed to be set up. The host gave us a glass of bubbly while we waited. A nice touch. The menu specials all written on the blackboard. We started with the escargot which my mom loved in Paris and the anchovies. My parents got the hangar steak and Bouillabaisse. While we got the lamb chops and whole grilled branzio. The escargot was a bit over cooked and rubbery. The steak was slightly more than medium and the lamb chop more medium than rare as ordered. But the meat was tender and well seasoned. I like my grilled branzino which was fresh and stuffed with full of herbs and spices. The bouillabaisse was a bowl full of seafood and the sauce was great for dipping. We opted for the crème brulee and bread pudding. My parents definitely like the bread pudding which wasn’t too sweet and moist. The crème brulee was creamy smooth. Le Mediterranean Bistro was nice dinner in subdue setting. Service and food was all good. While it says French Moroccan, I would say it is mainly just French. There wasn’t much Moroccan on the menu when we were there which I think would be a nice addition.

I spite of the not so glorious reviews...And the comments about Hamid being rude..We fell for the proximity of the restaurant to our place....Sadly all the food we wanted was NOT available that night..Hamid was very rude In spite of the fact we spoke French to him and hoped to make ourselves clear!!!..It was a ( very special birthday celebration with advance call/ reservations and details)!!!!...Not at all what we expected and will never ever go back..The restaurant was empty for a good reason.....There are too many great restaurants in the area for this kind of behavior!..

Rather, its a French Bistro restaurant: located in a rather quaint corner in Fairfax, its not your fine dining or elegant restaurant but if you want to go for more refined taste for your pallet and pay a little more than for your burger or pasta, this place is recommended. A few words of "Shokran" (thank you) will get you a good service, even from Hamid^^. Do use Google map option to reserve n even edit to avoid waiting for special dates.

Service was prompt, but true to French fashion, they give you time to eat your meal. Never felt hurried it also wasnt checked on (interrupted) every 5 minutes. Great prices for good French food. I liked it and will be going back.

We were looking forward to dinner here, but the service was so rude from the get go, it was hard to enjoy our meal! Turns out the food was good but not great, especially for the price. Overall, a very disappointing experience!

Had the 3 course weekday lunch special ($14) there today: mango gazpacho, beef tagliatelle, creme brulee. Excellent combination of flavors, portions and textures. Will most certainly return and recommend to others..
