Just had the worst experience ever at LA Petite....snippy waitress ......placed our order.... waited for my dinner...the wrong dinner came ...my friends got their dinner...I waited for 20 minutes.... she kept saying that it would be out soon..... soon, my friends were done....I had not been served although the waitress told me that "the plates only needed to be swapped"....whatever that meant. I finally told the woman I didnt want the dinner after all...she was annoyed and acted like t was my fault. The manager Sherry, whom I had talked to twice this day, about trying to get a reservation, never ONCE came over to apologize...the waitress became surly and made me feel that I was to blame.. I have never been treated so insulted......I HAD TO ASK FOR COMPENSATION....the waitress, pretending she didnt know what I was asking... finally, the appetizer was COMPED....my two friends, with full bellies were satisfied and Im mad that I had been treated so badly. i I had taken them to this "nice" restaurant....and i was embarassed.... I would like to know how they can treat customers this way.... ..make mistakes that leave a diner without a meal, while the friends eat their dinner... the waitress saying, YOURS will be out shortly......which was a lie... and NEVER OFFER to comp our $22.00 BOTTLE OF WINE OR our mediocre APPETIZER.... this happened TONIGHT....August 5, 2015......there are too many good places to eat in Fredericksburg... thIs place does NOT care about customer service. An awful dining experience... and I had no dinner....the waitress too off the 8.00 appetizer after I insisted.

My wife and I try to go here once a year, usually on our anniversary or one of our Birthdays. We have been going here for a few years. Now we are by no means "regulars" and we have had great experiences here. This year was quite a different experience. To start off the menu was different than previous years, which wasnt a bad thing. Then it took quote sometime before we were even greeted, and the guy just said "can i get you drinks?" Once our order was placed (this took some time) we were pretty much left to our own devices until food came. I had to flag down the waiter several times for things he should have noticed on his own. Then we had to flag him down again after sitting for 20 minutes with our napkins on our plates to get the check. We were very disappointed with the level of service we received from JIM, however we may come back again...its up in the air at this point. This restaurant is "fine dining" itd be nice to get that level of service all the time. **The scores I gave this restaurant is based on all of our outings here, not the most recent.

This restaurant has gone way down hill. I made a reservation for 7:15 the saturday before Valentines Day. I had a party of 6. When we walked in my daughter said this place smells like mold. And yes, it did. Very much so! They seated me in the rowdy bar area. Which was, I must say folks of a different type. That was ok. They were just really drunk and loud. Our waiter did not come to the table for 20 minutes. He then seemed to be in a hurry. We ordered drinks as well as our dinner. The drinks took 15 minutes. As I said he was rushed. I only saw him wait on two table behind us that we both tables for just two. Not sure where he went when he left us. 30 minutes after the first drink, we ordered another. Still no food. Finally about 10 minutes later the food showed up. The owner was running around the whole time, but really wasnt doing a thing. Do not plan to go there. It is pricey for the amount of food you get and if you are paying that type of money..you deserved good food and great service.

This is NOT the best restaurant in Fredericksburg! Ive eaten in French restaurants around the world and this one is just OK. It wasnt terrible, but it just doesnt rate the ebullient words that some other reviewers have written. There were a few menu items that were French, but not many. I had their pate appetizer and it was adequate, but probably purchased from the local grocery store. The scalloped potatoes were sitting around for a while and had formed a skin. Id swear they were made from a box bought from the local grocery store. There was a vaguely French-style sauce dripped over the greasy steak I had, but it tasted sort of floury - and it too quickly formed a skin when cooled. So the bottom line is - the Petite Auberge might be OK for somebody who doesnt know any better. But really, its mediocre. If you want something very good, go to Tru Luvs in Fredericksburg.

Ive been to La Petite a few times, and while I like the food I have always received so-so service. What makes me upset is that Ive been next to tables of Fredericksburg locals (the regulars) and they receive FAR better servce, specials from the chef, etc. My husband took me there for my birthday and called ahead to surprise me with a cake. After we watched the table (who sat down 20 mins after us) receive all of their courses (and a special treat from the chef) before we got to our main course, I was pretty annoyed. Not to mention that we had champagne and they didnt pour it (just opened it and left it in the bucket). Then they forgot the cake. My husband told me afterwards they forgot it (hes not one to make a scene). Last I checked, my money is just as good as your regulars. After I experienced that, we avoid going there on principle.

My wife and I ate at LPA on May 1st and were pleasantly surprised. It didnt look like much from the outside, but was actually quite nice on the inside. We didnt have a reservation but they seated us quickly. It was a romantic setting. The server was exceptionally knowledgeable on all of the dishes. I ordered the scallops and my wife ordered the halibut. We also had a bottle of Pinot Grigio. The food and wine were excellent! It was full flavor and the presentation was excellent. The only downside to the experience was it took 30 mins to get our food from the time we ordered. Other than that, we couldnt be happier. The prices were a little high, but we felt the quality was definitely worth it. We now have a "nice" restaurant to go to for special occasions. We highly recommend. it.

I scheduled my dinner reservation a week in advance for my wedding reception for a small group of people, as I had dined at this restaurant before an absolutely adored it. I was shocked at the quality of service. While our server was friendly and accommodating, the amount of time it took for us to receive our drinks and food was terrible. We continually had to get up and inquire as to where our server was or when our food was going to arrive (3 of our guests ordered the calamari, which should EASILY have been out in 20 minutes). While I love the food, I dont think Ill be likely....or any of my guests for that matter....will be likely to go back any time soon.

Was in the area on business and had dinner at the bar on an unseasonably warm Monday night. La Petite Auberge is a place with a comfortable vibe and a regular clientele - a witty older gentleman named Chuck sat next to me at the bar. La Petite Auberges pricing is reasonable. Good ambiance and excellent service from Jason the bartender. The salads and sides - scalloped potatoes and sugar snap peas were excellent. But the roast chicken was underwhelming -- and if youre a FrenchBistro thats not a good thing. Would I go there again? Yes but I would order something else.
