The bakery is amazing - gourmet desserts and wonderful breads that you can order to-go (high-priced, but worth it). My experiences with the cafeteria are not nearly as good, but I still go here often. The ambiance is wonderful, although the food is standard cafeteria-fare and the price seems inflated for its level of quality. The food sitting out often does not look fresh (unfortunately including the croissants - btw, those at Tout De Sweet nearby are often much better than here), but if you happen to catch it fresh when they put out new items, or order an item on the menu that they prepare fresh in the kitchen, then it is better. The service is hit-or-miss - the managers are always smiling and happy to help, although the hourly workers sometimes could not care less. Usually they are pretty good though, and quickly move you through the line. Overall: a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a meal or snack/dessert with friends or out-of-town guests, or even by yourself just sitting and enjoying a coffee - if you can find a table that is, b/c it is quite popular and fills up quickly at standard meal-times.

La Madeline is a beautiful restaurant with excellent customer service and great food. The environment is very warm, relaxing, and has a home-like decorum. It is colorful, yet filled with wood, brick, and iron, rendering it with a cottage/Old World aesthetic. One can even learn some French vocabulary during the visit! The bathrooms have translations on little cute tiles with images of animals and a recording translating French nouns. The staff typically great you in French and often say, "Merci". The food, which of course, is the main reason for going, is great! They have plenty of pastries, soups, salads, and sandwiches. I love their strawberry crepes and coffee!

Personale cortese e friendly. Intert free.

Absolutely horrific experience! This place has gone to the dogs. The rude African woman behind the counter was rubbing the counter with a dirty looking dish rag, then started to make a salad for me with NO GLOVES, and did not wash her hands. I was tempted to say something, but she was so surly and sour faced I didnt. Bad idea. I got horrible diahrrhea from the salad, and this place seems very unclean. Another rude African woman with a grim look on her face said, Shut up in French to another worker in a very nasty tone of voice. There is almost no parking and the place is dirty. The bread they give out now is very stale. Avoid this location!

The salad I ordered to-go was one of the best Ive ever had. It was very fresh with a unique mix of ingredients - perfect at the end of a long hot day. I also commend the manager for kindness and integrity. While we were visiting from out-of-town, my daughter lost her iPod. A week later we received an email from Apple. The manager at La Madeleine had found it and contacted Apple to find the owner. The iPod just arrived today to the delight of my daughter. So in our experience the food is excellent, AND the manager Kevin Scott is a man of great integrity. Next time were in Bethesda we will certainly return.

I ordered the "Duet Magnifique"sandwich and your choice of chips or tomato basil pesto pasta salade* and a cup of soupe or petite caesar salade half 6.99 whole 8.99 this is what was written in the menu. I called and ordered the half inquiring about the price as well, and the guy who respond confirmed me the price. I went back to work realizing the price they charged me was 9.21$. I was so upset they did not notified me. I called the store to let them know what was trhe deal with the menu price and in store price...the guy seems he does not know what I was trying to explain to him.

Over the years, I have had many meetings here with clients, colleagues, and friends -- even a study group! The cafeteria style line means that everyone gets what he or she wants and pays for him/herself. The crepe Florentine is delicious, though seriously calorie-laden. The staff are incredibly friendly -- every single last one of them! I have no idea how they hire such fantastic people every single time. One star removed because the bathrooms always feel slightly messy and unfresh (though certainly not gross).

This particular location has a serious problem with never seeming to have HOT coffee. In general, La Mad has very, very good coffee. But for some reason, this one always has it just over lukewarm instead of piping hot. When the people at the next table heard me complain, they confirmed the same experience. Otherwise, same food as at all La Mads-- good croque Monsieur, omelets pretty decent. Wish they could maintain hot coffee throughout the morning!

The food is delicious! I give it 5 stars even though they have few vegetarian or dairy free options, the food is too good to care about dietary upset. Staff is patient if you dont know what you want come crunch time. Getting down the line is quick. Ambiance is wonderful, lots of wood interior, nick-nacks, and they have a fireplace in the middle of the seating area.

My fiance and I each ordered the duet magnifique sandwich and side combo. The food is delicious and service was good. An incorrect side was brought out to us but an additional side was comped. Ordering was slightly confusing at first but overall the experience was very pleasant, I would definitely eat here again.

Ive only eaten once at the Bethesda location, but I can tell you that the food is well prepared by an expert kitchen, and their Desserts and pastries are of the highest quality, and well worth it. Updated: Their online menu is not accurate. There are items listed that they do not serve.

I went there twice and both times the service was upsetting. They do not look at you, say hello, smile, thank you, or even talk to you other than to tell you the total. Even that was in an apathetic tone. I didnt get food however my drink was made incorrectly.

This restaurant is a quick-serve casual spot where you can grab a to-go order or sit down for a business meeting in their private party room. The food is wonderful. The coffees are delicious. And, last but not least, their desserts are simply spectacular!
