An alumni dinner at Mon Ami Gabi was a nice consolation in making me momentarily forget and feel better about how much I owe in dental school debt. We were treated to a four course dinner where we were given a prefix menu with 3-4 selections for each course (except for salad course). My classmate and I decided to split each course to sample as many items as possible. We opted for warm Brie and scallop gratinees for appetizers, chicken pillard and mustard salmon for entrees, and profritoles and chocolate mousse for desserts. They started us off with warm, toasty house made French baguette with soften better. Carbs and I are inseparable - I especially appreciated that they spent the time and effort in heating them up! These baguettes were the perfect munch as they worked up our appetites on what were to come! Scallop gratinees - they turned out to be too good to share. I polished my plate clean before acknowledging "oh ya we were supposed to split". The cheesy, bubbly cream over the sweet, caramelized onion baked over meaty, whole scallop. Wished there were more than 3! Mustard salmon - moist, flavorful, made to perfection. Paired with citrus sauce over the buttery, creamy mashed potato - what a nice contrast! Chicken pillard - the chicken was a bit dry for my taste. However the baked kabocha squash and mushroom sides were beyond delicious! I would order this dish again just got the sides alone! Profitoles - puff pastries filled with giant scoops of vanilla ice cream and drenched in chocolate fudge sauce - what is there to not love? Pure scrumptious! Chocolate mousse - light, smooth, and airy - everything a chocolate mousse should be! Loved the extra crunch from the dark chocolate puffs and the additional creaminess from the whipped cream! Since I have a reputation of insatiable appetite, all leftovers were generously offered to me. I was able to sample the traditional steak and creme brûlée. Tbh Im not a big red meat eater - the steak was a bit tough and I didnt think it was all that special. However, the dollop of herb butter over the steak was a nice touch!. The creme brûlée on the other hand was out of the world! Rich, decadent, so so so good. Already had eaten 6 courses worth of food, my stomach managed to expand further and finished everything. Overall, what a treat! Service was beyond attentive even in a private, large group setting. Price can be a bit steep but well worth it! Happy belly = happy alumni. Hope my school hosts all future alumni events at Mon Ami a Gabi! I will be sure to clear my schedule to attend!

Nestled among the glamor of what Bethesda Row has become is this enjoyable this French restaurant, Mon Ami Gabi. The shops and restaurants around here give you an expectation of excellence. I have come to Mon Ami Gabi several times, and generally I leave very satisfied even though it is a rare occasion when corporate restaurants find my palate. When I come to a French restaurant, it is very hard not to start off with snails or the French onion soup. The Escargots de Bourgogne (oven-roasted snails) receives a high rating in my book, but the French onion soup was lukewarm (ouch). It is hard to believe that a French onion soup does not come out blazing hot; I was with a guest and did not want the guest to wait on me so I suffered through. Your French favorites of steaks with pomme frites are sure to be your favorites. This is one of the true places where a med-rare steak comes perfect. There are numerous choices that you can try. The more interesting plates are defined by the sauces, Steak Au Poivre with brandy peppercorn sauce; “Hanger Steak” butchers cut, merlot butter; and Steak Béarnaise, a classic with béarnaise sauce. A couple other items to look for are the Trout Grenobloise with lemon, capers, croutons and the Pork Tenderloin date-glazed bacon, pommes puree, port-wine cherry sauce. The mashed potatoes with the pork could have been better, hotter, and tastier. For brunches and desserts you have to order the crêpes, Bananas Foster Crêpe triumphs here. The service is friendly and upbeat which gives a fine impression of French Bistro service. This restaurant enjoys the traffic from what Bethesda Row has to offer which creates a happening bar scene of people enjoying their cocktails and French food. Stick to the French favorites, and you should leave satisfied. * Quality of Dining – Both Food & Service – ½ Star * Value – Related to the Cost – ½ Star * Atmosphere – Desirable for any occasion – 1 Star

When I take the Metro to work, I almost always stop at Mon Ami Gabi on the way home, one of my guilty pleasures. For a late lunch I love their Prime Beef Sandwich or Au Poivre Burger, always consistent and always great. For a dinner entree you wont be able to beat their Beef Bourginon or Steak Bernaise anywhere, including New York. The staff at this location is very personable, the service is absolutely first class, and while I am a big fan, I avoid the place on weekends because it can get too crowded and too noisy for my personal taste. In fact it seems more crowded than their Vegas location, also worth a visit, so I wish they would take reservations more seriously to mean fewer customers for a quiet and leisurely dining experience. That aside, Mon Ami Gabi is a real treat that you shouldnt miss if you love French cuisine.

Mon Ami Gabi is a wonderful French restaurant that I love to go to on occasion. The location is wonderful with plenty of parking nearby as well as a librarian and pottery studio. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is absolutely delightful. Every meal is served with a crispy baguette and butter as well as water with ice, of course. I personally recommend the escargot or snails in pesto which are an adventure as well as a delecacy. I also love the croque monsuer which is basically to a ham and cheese panini. This restaurant does accept reservations but is also open to people dropping in. It is very classy and I have seen many birthday parties for adults hosted here. Mon Ami GabI is a wonderful restaurant for those exploring the Bethesda area for lunch or for dinner.

Mon Ami Gabi is probably my favorite restaurant. When asked what my last meal on earth would be, my response is "its not a meal its 3 courses @ Mon Ami Gabi". So that being said here is my breakdown of faves. I start off with my drink order, which is usually between rose or a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. For shared appetizers I would choose the baked goat cheese and scallops au gratinee or the escargot. For my entree I always get the steak au poivre with a side ceasar salad instead of frites (they go really well together). Lastly for desert I would choose both the chocolate mousse and creme brulee. Then end. P.s. now im starving and probably going there for dinner tonight! THATS HOW GOOD IT IS!

The menu is an eclectic mix of American, British and French food, served in the atmosphere of an elegant French bistro (with charming outdoor seating in good weather). Apart for the uniquely unappetizing fries which they inexplicably seem to have adopted as their trademark, the food is excellent and served in well prepared generous portions. I do I wish they had a more extensive and more diverse selection of French wines and offered a good selection of cheeses, but we still had a very enjoyable meal and were well attended to by the staff. It is not inexpensive, but makes for a nice meal out before a movie or with friends.
