I would love to hear why this place wont make a bagel breakfast sandwich. I used to go to best buns every once in a while to order a breakfast sandwich. Id always order an egg and cheese bagel and would always be told no, we dont do that here. You sell bagels and you sell breakfast sandwiches. Your anti-bagel stance confuses me as a customer. I havent been to best buns in a couple years as a result, despite living less than a mile away. Ill drive the extra couple miles to go to Einstein despite the fact that their bagels arent as good, but at least they make what I want.

Best cupcakes in the area hands down. I dont know how Cake Love stays in business offering a lesser quality product that is more expensive. The Best Buns red velvet cupcake is delicious but Cake Loves cream cheese icing is superior in my opinion. Best Buns cupcake is bigger, moister and just plain better than Cake Love cupcakes. The best cupcake ive ever had was purchased from Best Buns - The Chocolate Peanut Butter Icing cupcake. There is no reason to comment on their staff since they do not wait on you. They could be rude and I would still love this place.

I meet friends for breakfast here once per week, and the staff know my name and my order when I walk in the door. I appreciate that they are thoughtful and attentive. They have a small and tasty selection of breakfast sandwiches from the kitchen, all on the bread made in-house. I also stop here occasionally for a breakfast pastry and coffee, or a hot beverage in the afternoon. The bread is good, but I actually bake my own bread at home, so I do not regularly buy theirs. Best Buns provides bread for the Carlyle next door and the other Great American Restaurants.

Brenda Rivers-I live in Richmond, VA and was on a business trip around the corner from the bakery. I walked in looking to purchase a sandwich but walked out with a Grilled chicken, pecan and mango salad with a Ginger and Lime balsamic dressing!!! The taste set off an explosion of flavor in my mouth that made me wish I was enjoying this salad on a Carribean Island somewhere. Although it was a cold 40 something degree tempeature outside, I felt warm all over inside!! Hey, can I get that gingerlime dressing receipe? Please.....

I cant say enough good things about Best Buns. From the warming smell of baking bread that sweeps over you upon entry, to their sticky buns that put you in a good mood for a week, to the genuinely kind and welcoming staff, this place is the crème de la crème of Alexandria. If you want to really treat yourself, get the pecan sticky bun warmed up and eat it outside with a cup of coffee while taking in the sights and sounds of Shirlington Village. It may just be the best part of your day.

To preface, it can get very busy on Sunday mornings. I was waiting in line and, unlike most people, was ordering cupcakes rather than breakfast food. As a result, about 10 people moved passed me in line while I was being helped. The person who helped me with my order went the extra mile to ensure that I was helped at the register according to my original order in line. On top of that, everyone was very friendly. The food is quite good as well. :)

Everything here is excellent. Sandwiches, Salads, Bread, Pastries, Cupcakes. They serve Starbucks Coffee and they actually brew it perfectly and frequently so it tastes better than your average Starbucks. If you get there before 10am you can have one of their awesome breakfast sandwiches. And they have the best service you could imagine. Cant recommend it enough.

Theres almost always a line (weekends typically out the door), but its worth the wait the for the privilege of enjoying their fantastic fresh baked pastries and egg sandwiches with choice of Starbucks coffee for breakfast, and creative tasty sandwiches and salads for lunch. Only a couple of bar seats indoors, so plan to eat outside or take it with you.

So many good things on the menu here, hard to pick just a few when you go in! The chocolate croissants are phenomenal. The fact that they put chocolate ganache in there is just unbelievable if you are a chocolate lover like myself. The breads here are just lovely as well. Great place to grab a coffee with a friend or read out on the little patio.

This place is perfect. The food is amazing but its the staff. The staff is sweet and kind, no matter how busy or hectic it is the cashiers are always smiling and sweet. I dont come as often anymore due to crazy work schedule but when I do make it in, they still remember my name and ask how my son is doing. Good job morning staff 03/16/16!!

As I was having a breadgasm just now, it occurred to me that I should write a review for Best Buns. This bakery has destroyed any desire I might have had to bake bread. For a little over a dollar, I can take home a demi baguette that is as good as any bread I have ever had in my life. Go here immediately and eat anything and everything.

I live in Clifton, VA, and have to drive a long way but its worth it. Ive actually become a regular for their cupcakes and Ive gotten several of my friends hooked as well. My favorite is the Red Velvet. The cream cheese frosting is as good as it gets. Im salivating just thinking about these decedent treats. ;) Try them and enjoy!

Omg this place its amazing, everything its fresh and gourmet and the restaurant inside its clean... Everybody its super friendly and professional, I definitely Ill recommend this awesome place to anyone... but THEY MUST COME TO THE DISTRICT OR MARYLAND... Best cupcakes, bread, and sandwiches ever!!! When you try the Best Buns cupcakes, youll feel like these cupcakes were made in heaven. Theirs are moist, big, and flavorful! An advice, skip the long lines at Georgetown cupcakes and go to Best Buns! Georgetowns are terribly overrated! You can thank me later ;)

Best Buns is an awesome bakery spot in Shirlington Village. The staff is friendly and efficient. They offer a good variety of coffees, teas, and breakfast sandwiches in the mornings and great offerings for lunch with deli sandwiches and burgers. Kids will LOVE their sweet treats.

Although it smells really good when you walk in the door the loaf of bread we bought was way too hard. If I wanted to chip a tooth or break a crown I would have eaten it. They said it was baked that morning but there is no way that was fresh. No way at all.

Amazing fresh bread at decent prices. Really great cupcakes. If they brewed good local coffee (not starbucks) and had more seating I would make this my go to for doing homework and relaxing, but I suppose that is not their purpose.
