Had dinner here tonight at the Broadway location. Was in the neighborhood and was recommended to me by a client. I went in and immediately came right out. The tables were very squished together so that people were sitting on top of each other. It was loud and warm in there. Very uninviting. I decided to eat outside. Ordered the mofongo with pork bits. The mofongo itself was HUGE and presented in an unappealing way -- a big blob. Kind of looked like a round pyramid. (There ARE round pyramids in the world.) Furthermore, the salad was pathetic -- the iceberg lettuce was not deep green. It was kind of yellow -- what you would find near the core of the head of lettuce. And the tomato slices were AWFUL -- mostly white with some pink. Its late July, people. Its tomato season. There is absolutely no excuse not to have gorgeous luscious Jersey tomatoes on hand. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Place: Not a luxury eatery but it does have nice appointments. They can use a bigger bathroom. If you are coming from outside NYC then you will have issues finding parking unless you go to one of the garages on Broadway. In the summer you can sit outside and "people watch". Food: Phenomenal and the prices are cheap...even when you consider that this is NYC. The menu is full of Dominican favorites as well as other choices. The rotisserie chicken is a must have as well as the white rice and " habichuelas" (red-kidney beans) with maduros as a side (caramelized sweet plantains). For dessert a nice "Tres Leches" cake with an espresso will do the trick. Service: Ive always found the service to be good. I have never come across any rude waiters. Obviously there have been some nicer than others but none that have been nasty. Food usually arrives fast and in stages but never too late.

Great little restaurant located off the A train in Washington Heights. I visited on a Sunday and the line was out the door, always a good sign. Luckily the tables turn over quickly. Service is prompt and courteous. Price was very reasonable. Really nice local neighborhood vibe. The food is excellent. Its nice to eat authentic Dominican and Puerto Rican, which can be hard to find further south. I got the chicken Mofongo, which is basically plantains and shredded chicken densly packed into a mound. Add some hot sauce and you have quite the meal. The girlfriend got chicken which was tender and moist, some of the best Ive had in the city. One note, if you plan on visiting the Cloisters, you may want to visit Malecon after youve worked up an appetite. While delicious, the mofongo sits heavy and will weigh you down as you climb the hills of the heights and Fort Tyron park.

So much food!!!!! I could not believe my eyes when the waitress put the plate of rice on my table. I kinda had trouble communicating with the people there because I speak no spanish...lol but it was quite nice to experience something different. It was my first time in the neighborhood, but they did not treat us like strangers still. I would have liked my chicken to be a lot more moister, but I forgive them because the skin of the chicken tasted so delicious. The BEANS was my favorite though. I could have a huge bowl and not be sad. The plantains were also different from the other places I frequent. They were not soggy, but more crispy and you can really taste the real plantain flavor. Overall, I would be back if Im in the area again! I wish I spoke Spanish D: I still have a lot of leftover food from here last night..

the best Malecon restaurant HAS to be the one in Riverdale @230th St and Broadway. The 175th location used to be better and is now just garbage. People just go for the atmosphere and because of its convenient location. But if you want good quality FRESH food. The Riverdale location has EXCELLENT chicken, and their daily dishes, rice and beans are ALWAYS fresh. I have NEVER been dissappointed... The best Dominican roasted chicken has to be "El Capri" on 172nd and St. Nicholas (I dont work for the place, just very selective about food). It is a small place so TAKE OUT is a MUST! and its a couple of blocks from Malecon.

I love this place because it has good food, but recently have been receiving bad service from a particular employee. On the week of Feb 6th, 2017, I was at the door at 8:03am and the guy who takes orders was sitting next to the door. He saw me standing for 1 or 2 minutes and didnt open the door. Instead he went on to say theyre closed. I asked what time its open and he went ahead to signal me that they open at 8:30am. Sadly, I left and checked online for the opening hours. This particular guy does what he pleases as if he owns the restaurant. I will be calling the owner, whom I know, to speak about this matter.

I ate at Malecon for the first time on Aug 28. Had mofongo with shrimp. The mofongo wasn"t bad but nothing to write home about. The garlic bread was good. Green salad average. The service the waiter gave was below average so I gave him $5 tip on a $37 check. When I received my credit card statement the following month, I noticed the restaurant apparently added an extra $2 to my tab after I left the restaurant. I reported this to Visa. Visa said they are going to reverse the charges. If you go to this restaurant, I recommend paying in cash. Unfortunately though, I cant recommend this restaurant.

Awesome joint to grab some delicious Dominican food! Lots of people come by to pick up a rotisserie chicken, but dining in is phenomenal as well. All the plates have a very authentic look and taste for a reasonable price. My favorite meal to eat at Malecon is breakfast. I cant think of a better way to start the day than with a plate loaded with bacon, fried cheese, eggs, and mangu! Oh and dont forget to order a fresh juice or smoothie. My go to is a banana/guanabana mix with milk. Do yourself a favor and hit this place up if youre in the area and hungry any time of day.

I discovered this restaurant in the summer and have been there plenty of time since. The food is consistently great. Today me and my friend went for brunch after long Halloween night. when we asked for a booth they didnt have one at the moment but manager Jay moved us once it was available. He kept a pitcher with water on our table since we were asking for refills. Also at the end he suggested us milk layered cake that we havent tried before and it was delicious . So attentive to the details and food was so yammy :) it was a highlight of our day!

I have been coming to this restaurant for at least a decade, and they always seem to improve in taste and portions. Mofongo de Camarones is delicious, flavorful cannot get enough of this dish, also Bistec encebollado with Black Bean Rice, and tostones are to die for, NYC is a place where you can find a lot of great places to eat, but this place is unique, and server and staff are helpful and friendly. Food is always done with perfection. Pitcher of Sangria is a must every time I visit this place. It is worth the wait, will never disappoint.
