I went there with a group of 10 to enjoy a nice Christmas dinner. The location is cool in Ogden Canyon. The location is the best part. The actual restaurant feels really outdated. It could use a bit of a touch up to make it more modern. Its just an old house turned restaurant, and thats exactly how it feels inside. The food was just ok. Definitely not worth the price. As others have said, every seems to be out of a can or store bought. Even the rolls/cinnamon rolls dont even seem fresh. The fruit cocktail is straight from a can, or if you choose tomato juice, its just a can. Not really that upscale. I had Prime Rib, and it really wasnt that great. Ive made better in my own house, and Im not really that great of a cook. My wife got the Filet Mignon which actually was quite delicious, so if you go, order that. Dessert is included, but it wasnt that great. My cheesecake was definitely worse than what you could buy at smiths. The brownie was just a brownie, nothing special. The server was very nice and very fun, but she wasnt around much, took a long time, and mixed up everybodys orders. Long story short, its a fun little destination, but it does not live up to the price, nor the romantics little getaway atmosphere they are trying to make happen there. I probably wont go back if I am the one paying.

Fantastic setting, and nice staff. However the problem is two fold. First, the place is in desperate need of an update. When you walk in and sit down, you feel like you are in a dive. However the prices ($20-45 per person) are certainly more dive prices, and dont reflect the facility at all. The second problem was the food. It was mediocre at best. The fried chicken (recommended on the menu) was moist, but very tough. The breading fell off just looking at it. Last, the bread. They called it a cinnamon roll -- which isnt the gooey delicious thing youre picturing, but rather a Roll with sugar and so little cinnamon you couldnt even taste it. The bread was also so tough I almost knocked the guy next to me out trying to tear it in half. Dessert is included which is nice. Ive always wanted to try this place every time Ive driven past it. I hadnt missed anything, nor are you. I wont be back. Much better places to drop a hundred bucks on dinner for 2.

This is the worst place I EVER have eaten. We went cause we knew it to be more extravagant, and never been. Wanted to take for fathers day. 5 people was over 130.00 and the food horrible! They actually served fruit cocktail in a shot glass like it was a "royalty". It was canned fruit cocktail! Everyone at the table looked around akwardly and all were astounded this place lived. It made the "fathers day" a disaster, But at least we got a laugh, months later. I got oysters, that looked like no oysters I have EVER had. Having experienced seafood all over including New England, I know seafood and that was NOT it. Its one thing to not like the food as much as another, its a completely different thing to feel like you got RIPPED off. The atmosphere reminded me of Silence of the Lambs. Never again, hit the oaks instead.

A wonderful and special restaurant. In an industry dominated by national chains, this family retreat is marvelous. Old building, old interior and old staff is better described as historic, not old. Located up Ogden Cannon, it offers an unparalleled sightseers opportunity. A fascinating legacy of the building and original family is found on the wall. It is must reading. When I am hosting foreign delegations, the Grey Cliff Lodge becomes a memorable event. For my guests, it is like being invited into a private historic American home. The oysters are great, the food excellent, the deserts a menagerie of homemade tastes. So, sit back, relax, and let any "quickness" like the fruit salad, remind you of your grandmother. Just do not eat it. There is plenty more to enjoy !!!!!

Hate to rant but I see a lot of comments about the fpricing/the look of the place please keep on mind the place a mom and pop owned restaurant and the owners r such a lovely elderly couple, and the building is old i mean like early 1900s old and was originally a summer house so the interior is kept eith that ages aesthetics but in my opinion is Absolutely wonderful, the waitress are personal and kind, while we came at a busy time we were still talked to and checked in on, Absolutely love the soups <3 and considering the house is a rarer the better resaurant was really suprised by how rare it was when i asked for medium but they were so well about cooking it more for me no scoffing or dirty looks great prices considering the amount of food and that dessert was included

Such a cozy place! Over 100 years old and so much of it is still original. Amazing. We went just after 9 on a weekday and had the place to ourselves. Excellent service! Delicious food. And for a four course meal (with rolls AND cinnamon rolls) you cant beat the price. Each course was the perfect size without being way too much. I did have leftovers of my entree for lunch the next day. My husband did not. :) He was stuffed. There is a coupon on their website to use with a dinner for two. Go check them out! Well definitely go back. Looking at other reviews, if you want a more "modern" place, go to a local chain restaurant. If you do decide to go, enjoy the history of this beautiful gem.

I like the location and the history, was not impressed with the food and is over priced in my opinion. We got an app (shrimp cocktail) waitress stated that it was definitely shareable. It was probably 8 little shrimp at most, wish i would of counted them. Fruit cup was in a shot glass, tiny salad, rolls and cinnamon rolls are store bought and previously frozen and my rice tasted like rice a roni. T-bone was good but cooked more than I requested. Best things were how kind and professional the waitress was( despite the app issue), the wine, steak and the club crackers that you get with each course.

This place was recommended. But I will not do the same. Was told that it would be cooking like "Grandmas". We went to find a clean dining room that was nice and welcoming. The food was not home made except for the hash browns and prime rib hash. It was actually a gravy not a hash. Everything else came from a can or lacked flavor. It was not worth the $15 per person for Sunday Brunch. There are some other places worth looking at. The Oaks, a little farther up the canyon was full of cars each time we passed it. We will try there next time.

Okay, yes it is old and needs updating but part of that brings it character. I do think it needs some renovating, menu/waiter revamping, etc. Our food wasnt too bad though. It was expensive but we were celebrating an anniversary at Christmas time and they had it decorated beautifully, a fire was roaring, they put us in an ideal location and we could see the snow falling down outside. Still liked it though it wasnt "the ideal." I can still appreciate it for having niche charm.
