This is a gem in Clarendon! I had heard about Bakeshop from a friend who raves about their cookies but only recently did I stop in to see for myself. Bakeshop is off the main road, about two blocks south. Its small but packed with baked goodies. They seriously do it all. Cookies, cupcakes, macarons, pies, pudding, cookiewiches, cakes, croissants, donuts, coffee (they serve Vigilante!), and tea. I believe they are most known for their cookies and cupcakes. Cupcakes are $2.50/each (not bad for D.C. area standards). If you buy 5, you get one free; and if you buy 10, you get 2 free. They have everything from red velvet to salty caramel chocolate to Twix. For macarons, they have lots of traditional flavors (and even some fun ones) like pistachio, raspberry, nutella, birthday cake, salted caramel, thin mint, etc. These flavors change daily. For cookies, they have salty oak apricots, browned butter chocolate chunk, brookie, oatmeal blueberry, spicy gingersnap, classic peanut butter, and peanut butter pillow. I chose the browned butter chocolate chunk and the brookie. The browned butter chocolate chunk is aptly called their "captain of cookies." Doughy and buttery, this chocolate is packed with chunks of Belgian chocolate. Im going to elevate its rank and call it the Vice Admiral of Cookies. I never had a better chocolate chip cookie in my life. The brookie was equally delicious. This is the lovechild of a brownie and cookie. Its like eating a brownie in a cookie form. Chocolately goodness thats not too sugary. Aside from trying their other cookies, Im looking forward to coming back and try their cookiewich, which sounds like a winning combo of their housemade cookies sandwiched between ice cream from Trickling Springs Creamery. Sounds amazeballs, doesnt it? I also made a mental note to try the Oreo in a Blanket, which is basically chocolate chip cookie dough wrapped around an Oreo. Genius! Prices are very reasonable. My two cookies were only $4. Where else am I going to find the best chocolate chip cookie of my life for only $2? Bakeshop is my be-all-end-all cookie ne plus ultra.

Bakeshop, please dont change a thing!! I was trying to get reasonably priced gourmet cupcakes to celebrate March birthdays for my co-workers, our office has budget restrictions and we cant go over a certain amount for birthday cupcakes. Bakeshop not only had cupcakes for $2.50 each, but also a special where every 5th cupcake is free. I had no expectations when I went, b/c I figured they would be standard cupcakes at those prices, but the cupcakes WERE GORGEOUS, an array of beautifully decorated cupcakes and a SUPER FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT STAFF!! Co-workers were WOWED and said the cupcakes were delicious too. Bakeshop, please stay the way you are, a small boutique bakery that offers a wide variety at reasonable prices!!

You know when you find a new treat, and its so good, it scares you because you know you will want to have it every single day, and restricting yourself is near impossible? Well, that was what went on inside my head when I tried Bakeshops unbelievably incredible cookies last weekend. I havet had a cookie that good in years. They are soft and chewy in the center, with a little crispy, buttery edge that will overwhelm you with so much pleasure, you wont be able to speak in coherent sentences. Their brown butter chocolate chip cookie is the best, followed closely by their sugar cookie. Its a good thing I dont live too close, or Id be in there snatching cookies every day. Sometimes twice a day.

All the delicious cakes! I highly recommend the purple taro cake (also known as Ube amongst fellow Filipinos/as), and the vietnamese coffee cake. Eat all of it, you can thank me later. Cute little space off N Fillmore, garage and street parking available. Shop is small, so dont bring your group of 30. Cakes, as mentioned, are light, delicious, so flavorful and not too horrifically sweet. You can taste the actual cake and frosting, not just sugar, sugar and more sugar. The coffee is also quite good. Service is always with a smile, and they will never judge you for buying three slices of different cakes to share with a friend.

Oreos baked inside chocolate chip cookies. Enough said. (They call it oreo in a blanket!) Also the Thai iced coffee, homemade macaroons, brookies, blondies, and more! If youre on the main strip in Clarendon (getting off work, shopping at Trader Joes or Whole Foods, shopping or grabbing dinner,) you owe yourself a treat at Bakeshop. Its on a less-trafficked street next to Green Pig Bistro, just barely off the main drag. Your sweet tooth will thank you! Fast, friendly service, vegan-friendly, and theres always something gluten-free to try as well. But seriously, try the oreo in a blanket. Its as good as it sounds.

Vegan friendly. I suggest supporting on Sundays if you are a vegan so Justin (owner/baker) can keep offering all those incredible options of cupcakes and chipwich! For those who dont care for vegan: The Vanilla cupcake and Strawberry Vanilla ones are amazing, delicious. Chipwich (icecream sandwiches are tasty but the cookie is a bit hard to bite into sometimes). I liked the texture of their peach pie but lots of missing flavor to my taste. Parking is horrible so if you are driving make sure you come with a friend so he/she buys while you wait in the car.

Im loyal to this bakeshop and to Justin because theyre products are not only fresh and oh so delicious, but when I couldnt pick up my paid order one year because I couldnt get out of work - on Thanksgiving day late afternoon, instead of just closing the shop, Justin called me to double check if everything was okay, and ended up hand delivering that blue berry pie to me! Ive yet to have a better blue berry pie :) He might not remember me anymore, but Ill never forget that "extra mile" he walked for his customer. <3

First, the food -- ALL of it -- is amazing. I love the cupcakes, of course. But the chipwiches, the cookies (especially the oreas-in-a-blanket), the cakes and the banana pudding(!!!) are phenomenal! I have the most discerning sweet tooth, and this place is by far the best bakery I have ever been to. Second, the people there (like owner Justin and his mom Linda) are all delightful, friendly and terrific. I cannot rave enough about Bakeshop -- go there. You will never be disappointed.

Love this place! Ive been liking for a close bakery to use for wedding desserts and this place is #1 of the 5 places Ive gone to. The cupcakes are moist (strawberry shortcake is my favorite), the cinnamon rolls are awesome and go well with some Thai ice coffee. They even make a salted caramel cupcake I actually like and I hate caramel. I havent tried all the desserts yet but Ill get there one day. For me its definitely worth the money and am definitely getting wedding cupcakes here.

I liked some of the products, but didnt like how none of the workers could answer simple questions about the products flavor, name, or ingredients. The atmosphere is also very unwelcoming, with many of the young employees being quite rude and/or inattentive. The quality of the food isnt worth the poor customer service either. You can easily find a plethora of bakeries in Arlington that are within this price range with much better service and have better quality products.

The only thing that I enjoyed was the frosting. The vegan/ regular cupcakes were very unsatifying and bland. They had the same cupcakes but would simply just change the name and frosting. The Oreo cupcake was a chocolate cupcake with an Oreo on the icing that was stale, no Oreos incorporated into the actual cupcake. The vegan cookies were either really sugary, dry or bland. I hope this helps, and sorry for the bad review, but I was very disappointed in the desserts.
