Erm... authentic Polish food? Ehhh. Sure, if youre a YUPPIE, maybe. For an old Polak like me it didnt come across as being anything but artsy-fartsy. Or, if you prefer the other term, foo-foo. Much too foo-foo. The food was... not plentiful, the bread looked old, and the prices are too high, regardless of the atmosphere. My friend and I visited last winter, they made no effort to shovel the sidewalk so you could avoid the ice, snow and puddles; not very good customer service when you need to park down the block and try to navigate treacherous sidewalks... Not recommended. Try any of the other popular Polish places on Milwaukee Avenue instead, and post a review. OR.. visit Smak-Tak! and see for yourself.

If you live in the heart of Chicago, Smak-Tak can be a little out of the way. I promise its worth the drive if youre craving authentic Polish food. It is a quaint, charming restaurant complete with a real fireplace and rustic wooden countertops. There is also ample street parking. If I havent convinced you yet, let me tell you the food is delicious. We got the pierogis, potato pancakes, and cheese blintzes and thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Our waiter came off as stand-offish and curt sometimes, but he was quick, efficient, and made good recommendations as to what to order, which is satisfactory enough for me.

This is my favorite Polish restaurant in Chicago. I went here with my brother, sister-in-law, father, and mother (who moved to the U.S. from Poland when she was 16). We all really enjoyed the food, though my mother said she preferred Red Apple NOT on the grounds of food quality but because Red Apple has a buffet and everyone can try lots of dishes. To get around this, we ate family style and ordered five different dishes to share -- they were delicious (as their name implies -- "Yes, delicious!). If you want a buffet, go elsewhere, but if you just want delicious food, this is the place for Polish food.

The front desk worker is so sweet. The salon is clean. Theyre quick. Im able to walk in and get an appointment right away. Not all of the workers speak the best English... but all of them are friendly and do a great job. Theres a continual chatter in the salon, as the staff and the people in the salon converse without pause. The two times Ive been in, Ive had great conversations with other customers and employees. My nails always look excellent and last for about a week until they start growing out again.

Delicious. I always look for a neighborhood experience during my visits to Chicago. I hit a home run when I found this place. I was clueless about what to order but they were very helpful. I settled on two dishes: the Hungarian pancake and pierogi. I ate half of each and took the rest back to my hotel. Ill hit this place again for the cabbage rolls before I leave town and it will be a regular stop for me from here on in.

My husband and I found this restaurant while looking for BYOBs. We had no real experience with Polish food but decided to give it a try. We LOVED it. The people are very nice and the food is wonderful!!! Weve been back a dozen times, taking different friends each time. The perogis, potato pancakes and pork schnitzel are our favorites as well as all the salads!! We very highly recommend it!!

I love this cozy restaurant, it almost felt like hanging out at a friends house. My favorite dish were the potato pancakes... just ridiculously delicious! My friend ordered the breaded pork cutlet (also fantastic) while I got the stuffed cabbage rolls. The cabbage rolls were decent, but not as amazing as the potato pancakes. Service was super nice and fast. I will be back to try the pierogis!

Came in on Saturday afternoon from Google search for pierogies. My second experience with pierogies and not in any way disappointing. Slightly dry in comparison to my first time (not in a restaurant), but very delicious. Place is small and very Polish, but comfortable seating and very clean.

This small neighborhood Polish restaurant always serves delicious food. The "Hungarian Style Pancake", a large potato pancake filled with goulash, is my new favorite. The peach loin was also very good. I would recommend a reservation if your group is bigger than 4.

Excellent homemade Polish fare. The potato pancakes are crisp, and the pierogis are to die for. (I particularly recommend the plum pierogis, best fruit pierogis Ive had in Chicago.)

This place is delightful. its charming and looks like a little hunting lodge. The food is abundant and well seasoned. the Silesian dumplings are light a gummy and wonderful.

Food is great and authentic, and the setting is cozy, almost like eating at a grandmas cabin. Im pretty sure they cater and their menu is in English and Polish.

Food was OK but the man who served us was very unpleasant. The person I was with is black and she felt very uncomfortable. Sorry never going back.

Entrees are great, especially the shishkebobs and pierogis. Their cheese blintzes could be one of the best deserts ever.
