Ive only had one meal in this new modern Japanese restaurant due to difficulty getting there from Potomac. But I would say out of all the Japanese (owned) places that Ive been to in and around DC, that the food takes first or second place in my book. Definitely beat Seki, Blue Ocean, Yuzu and a whole bunch of other places. At least on par, or better than Sushi Taro and Kaz. Not as stressful and tight as Makoto, and with better food. Just had a meal at Kajitsu - a NYC Michellin 1 star and would have to say my Nasimes meal was better. The chefs preparation is not only excellent and delicate, the type of seafood he uses surprises someone like me who pride myself in getting stuff like live King Crabs and fresh scallops in the shell. The place is small, and intimate with excellent service. But If you are seriously into your Japanese food, I believe this is the best choice around DC area right now for advanced foodies. Enjoy it while the price is fair/low and reservations relatively open.

By far the best meal I have eaten in Alexandria. The food speaks for itself but the atmosphere is also excellent - small, intimate, conversational, with jazz music in the background while you watch chef Yuh prefer a five course meal. There is no lunch, just dinner. Call in advance to make reservations - this is important as they use only fresh ingredients and so they can adjust to any dietary requirements. Vegetarian? No problem. Gluten free? Thats a problem. Old Town has been in need of a restaurant such as Nasime for a long time. Am very happy for it.

I had eaten with my family here and I must say, the atmosphere? Its wonderful. The restaurant is small, quiet, is ran by one chef, (so he has to make everything fresh), and the the menu changes all the time. Guaranteeing that youre experience there will not be the same each time. The restaurant is inside a building sort of, its right next to the knitting shop so it is possible that you can go past it on accident. But I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a different experience from the japanese restaurants in Virgina.

This place is amazing! I stumbed upon this place completely by accident and Im so glad I did. Their menu changes daily so check their website at 3 or 4pm the day of to see what theyre serving. We had firefly calamari, sashimi, fried fish (dont remember what kind), duck noodle soup, and homemade ginger ice cream. And the price is incredible as well - $55 per person for a 5 course meal! Cant wait to go back!

What a hidden gem. We had an excellent meal. The set menu of 5 courses includes dessert and changes every 2-3 weeks so in a month its entirely different. The dishes are always seasonal in the Japanese tradition. The ingredients and preparation is very Japanese with a twist but not the standard fare youd expect from Japanese restaurants in America. Tip: make a reservation.

Absolutely the best Japanese meal I have ever had. It is a fixed menu that changes every day depending on what ingredients are available. If you are able to get a reservation you must make the time to go! This place is extremely busy with an intimate setting and truly artistic menu.

Great food and service. Cuisine is great. Would recommend private dining area for more comfort or the bar to see kitchen action; table seating was not as nice.
