We tried out this place because of the high reviews and we have to say that this place was a little disappointing. We ordered 3 dishes: the combo fried appetizer dish, the chicken tiki masala, and the tandori sizzling combination platter, and few of the nan flavors. What tasted good: The combo fried appetizer dish: simosas, chicken fried pieces, onion fried pastry, and another veggie fried pasty. Sorry I dont remember the exact names or spellings of those items, but they do have a "combination fried appetizer dish" on the menu. This plate was huge and delicious! Highly recommended. We ordered the Onion Nan and the Cheese Nan. Both were Excellent. The Onion Nan is exceptionally delicious. Cheese Nan tastes like a cheese quesadilla. We like it and really love the Onion Nan. Onion nan was sweet and salting and hits all of the right senses. What did not meet up to our expectation and tastes better at many other Indian restaurants: The Tandori sizzling combination platter was disappointing. It came out in a hot sizzling and loud dish . By loud I mean that the sizzling noise was very loud and full of steam, smoke, sizzle, smell, etc... So it made you totally excited for the dish. Which is why it is also such a BIG disappointment because it totally DID NOT taste as good as the sight or smell. It did not taste good at all. I think all 4 people at my table only took a bite of one piece and then that was it for that dish. We cannot even finish the rest of our bitten pieces. The dish was very bland, the meat though was medium (not too juicy and not too dry), was not tasteful at all. The fried chicken piece in the appetizer dish was way better. And at almost $20 for this dish, we expected more than just a tease. The second dish was the Chicken Tiki Masala. One of the most popular dish at most Indian restaurants. This place has one of the worst tasting Tiki Masala. We ordered it Medium and Mild. The Medium was like a mild at most other places so not spicy enough. The mild has no spicy taste to it at all. Both plates tastes very similar. And the sauce was very sour and tartsy and tasted like they put way too much tomato sauce in this dish, and it was not as creamy tasting. Most places the sauce for this dish is yellow and our dishes came out very red orange, close to red in color. If you like sour and tartsy Masala, then you will like this dish. However, we have had many Chicken Tiki Masala at many different Indian restaurants before eating here and this dish fell very short. We did not even finish half of the dish. We ordered 2 Indian Teas, and they were okay. Their teas lacks more spices and more kicks than most other Indian places that we have had. The Chai flavors in these isnt as strong. If you like your tea mild spice tastes, then you will like this. We walked out of here ordering 3 main dishes, 2 nans, and 1 appetizer dish and 4 drinks and ended up with a bill that was close to $100. It would have been fine if all of the main courses tasted good. But for the price, we expected better tasting main dishes. We ended up with so much food left over because no one wanted to eat anymore. We have never left a restaurant with this much of foods left over. We are giving this place 3 stars because the appetizers were really good. The other missing stars were for the short comings of the main dishes. The alcohol drinks are about the same as other places since they all came from the professional breweries. The Indian teas fell a little short but not as short as the main courses. Try this place if you are curious. But we wont be coming back and we wont be taking friends here either. Sorry, I hate to give less than perfect reviews but wanted to give an honest perspective on our experiences. Since we did go off of other peoples high reviews in selecting this place, and wished that there were other reviewers that would warn us too.

While the restaurant itself is nicely decorated with nice ambience, overall I didnt enjoy my experience much. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, and Raita. Given that I am a Chicken Tikka Masala connoisseur (and also recognizing thats its not an authentic Indian dish), I didnt like Taste of Indias version - had a very earthy, almost bitter taste to it, and I had to add lots of Raita to make it more sweet and palatable. The Naan was really dense, almost like Paratha, instead of light and fluffy with air bubble pockets like most Naan Ive tried. I was really annoyed by the jazz-sounding cover of some Indian song that seriously played on a loop the entire evening- the same song! The waiter and the owner who kept coming around to ask us if if things were very sweet and nice. Overall, I would say that this is a basic, north-Indian restaurant with a fairly limited menu (all the classics that white-people like me love) that doesnt offer much diversity. A good restaurant for people that "eat Indian" a few times a year for novelty, but for the serious Indian foodie I wouldnt recommend it. If you didnt know Indian food better youd think this restaurant is heaven. It has its niche. :) Other Indian restaurants in the valley offer more diversity (south indian food) and better food. :)

We have been going to Flavors of India since it was Taste of India. Loved it then, and love it now. Pretty much everything we have ordered has been great. Weve tried all the vegetarian options and plenty of the meat options. We recently ordered the chicken kashmiri and lamb bunna and enjoyed those. Even the tandoori/kebab options, which in some restaurants can be dry, have been moist when we have ordered them. Their buffet is great for lunch, and affordable, usually with an array of at least 2 veggie options and 2 meat options, naan, pakora, mango pudding and gulab jamun (like cake balls in syrup). We also enjoy their veggie samosas and sweet samosas (yum!!). Service is always at least "good" if not great. Ordering online through Eat24 has been really easy when weve done that, and they deliver within a 5 mile radius. Sometimes you can find deals on Amazon Local or Restaurant dot com or the like, but even if you dont, its still a good value for Indian food in the Salt Lake suburbs.

Just fantastic. Took my husband here for his first Indian food experience two weeks ago and we havent stopped talking about it. The service was excellent. The owners were really delightful. The entire restaurant was impeccably clean and decorated really nicely, which isnt usually the case for ethnic food restaurants in general in the area. The Bollywood music videos were a subtle and fun addition to the experience. The butter chicken was superb, the rice was incredibly aromatic, and we couldnt get enough samosas. Everything was extremely flavorful and well seasoned, unlike many Americanized Indian restaurants where even the curries taste bland. I also really appreciated the lentil chips to start off the meal. We tried another Indian restaurant the next weekend because we were downtown and it was terrible in comparison. We will only be going to Flavors of India for our Indian fix.
