OK, I really dont know what the hell people are thinking when they leave positive reviews about this place! Ive given this place 3 separate chances to get it right. First time was breakfast with a friend. I had something pretty hard to screw up. 2 eggs over easy, sausage, and hashbrowns. Eggs were fine, but the sausage were 2 tiny links that seemed to be microwaved! I asked for the potatoes to be cremated because I LOVE them well done. Came out underdone and soggy. My friend got a 3 egg omelette that looked pathetic and one egg short! Not cheap either! I was there yesterday and ordered a Reuben. For almost $10 pretty disappointing. Dried out paper thin meat with what seemed like one alive of Swiss on top. Greasy untoasted rye bread underneath. Seemed like the sauerkraut wasnt drained enough before putting in on the bread. Honestly, the best part of the meal was the pickle! Im not even kidding. I grew up in Brick Twp. And the Rainbow diner or the Ocean Queen are far, far superior. I didnt think diners in NJ could put out food this bad! Or if you live in the Toms River area, go to the diner on the corner of rt 37 and 166. Not 100 percent sure of the name, but less expensive and SO much better! I never go out of my way to leave comments this long, but its still unimaginable to me that a diner could be this bad!

2 stars bc they do a good breakfast & the service is good & fast. The decor is plain & boring. Went to the Sand Castle Diner for dinner & first was going to order there broccoli bites but they didnt have them, then I got the mozzarella sticks there were okay but definitely were frozen. Than for dinner I ordered the Fettucine Alfredo that was a huge regret, there Alfredo has no cheese or butter in the sauce completely bland, I had like 2 bites & told my server that its not what I ordered she ask if i wanted something else but I didnt so it was taken off the bill as it should. Also there Gyro wasnt very good to, made like it was just frozen ingredients. Instead of a strips of beef it was like very slim slices like frozen steak em & it came with fried zucchini with cucumber dip that was terrible rather & got some ranch instead it was alright & the fried foods are just frozen crap. Also the ice tea I had a sip & immediately stopped bc it was horrible. Got a mug root beer instead. I dont recommend there dinner & there prices are pretty up there. For the crap Fettucine Alfredo = $13.50 & certain appetizers are a little costly for a diner. Definitely not a homemade cooking type of diner only coming here for breakfast.

Ok well i was there at 1030 at night and i was told they were closing soon. I said not a problem i will get a take out order. WELL i got home and my take out order was wrong. I called the manager of the store and he said i am sorry sir next time you come in i will take care of it for you. Well 2 weeks go by and the wife and i say lets go back to the sand castle and get food. When i got here the owners son was working the front and says i am sorry i cant do anything. He was calling me bro like really. Then he had to call his daddy that is the owner and then after 10 min of bullshit it was replaced like i was told it would be. By far the worst i mean the worst customer service i have ever had in my life. I will never be back and i will make sure i tell eveyone i can to stay clear of this PLACE. Lol you can get frozen over priced food some other PLACE.

Best diner in the area, cheap huge portions. The burgers are the best, always moist. The salads are really generous, and the entrees are pretty decent for a diner but not my first choice. Ive been going here for years and the service has slipped recently, but Ive gotten a lot of the younger waitresses, the older career-waitresses are awesome. Ive never had more than mildly irritating wait times, and these are usually at peak hours. I dont know what review #9 is talking about as there has never been a salad bar in this diner for at least the last 22 years.

Never disappointed when we come here! The food is always delicious and plentiful, as well as fairly priced. The cheeseburgers are the juiciest Ive ever had in my life. The half chicken is also juicy and well seasoned. The kids menu is full of food that kids love, and the portions are huge! The staff is ALWAYS friendly (even when the kids spill... whoops!) and they are always patient and helpful. We love coming here!

I ordered the steak sandwich. It came with CANNED mushrooms! Frankly, I gagged just looking at them and sent it back, immediately. I ordered a hamburger, instead. The burger was great! Although the Swiss cheese on my dinner companions was fine, when she tried to order cheddar cheese on her hamburger, she was told that the diners cheddar cheese was a "cheese sauce," and would she like a different cheese?

Our family has been going to the Sand Castle Diner for as long as I can remember. (Although we still call it "The Beachwood Diner, lol.) Standard diner menu, reasonable prices, daily specials, and a kids menu. Mondays and Tuesdays kids eat free with purchase of adult meal. Service is very good, and I have never been dissatisfied with anything I have ordered.

Better than your typical Jersey diner. This food was very tasty and freshly made. Burgers always taste great and cooked to your liking. Breakfast food is awesome, but even their dinner is good. Unlike most diners that have "similar" tasting entrees, their selection actually tastes like what you order. Great prices too.

Service was slow, food had no flavor and it was a bit cold. The best thing was my daughters chicken nuggets. The girl at the register also decided to finish her conversation about a date she went on before taking care of us. I guess the glance over at us before ending her conversation was her way of telling us to wait.

Great food especially there French Oniom Soup. Great appetizers. Nice family oriented place to go. Easy parking got to go at right time. If you can go about 4:30 for early dinner its best time otherwise its packed or go much later after 9pm. Thats if your like me, I hate packed places. And I like my booth.. lol.
