This was my daughters and my first time in Sea Bears restaurant. It has a Scottish theme, and an eclectic ambience. We had the crab ceviche for an appetizer, it was delicious and freshly made. For dinner we both got the fish and chips, I had the catfish, she had the tilapia. As an add-on we both got a battered jumbo oyster, which was to die for! Their batter is crispy and delicious, and everything was cooked hot and fresh to order. The service was immediate and our food was brought out so fast, I was actually surprised! We were there during an off-time, however: 3:45 PM. Im not sure why some negative reviews for we had a very enjoyable experience all around! Im definitely coming back. Its an upscale seafood restaurant disguised as a common fish and chip eatery! Thank you Sea Bears!

Im from England and my husband is originally from California (Bay Area). We both spent many years on Cape Cod and are accustom to great seafood. Since we have been transplanted to the Ogden area, we have been searching for a really good fish and chip shop. My husband has been looking for a place that makes a REALLY HEARTY, NEW ENGLAND STYLE clam chowder and he finally found it tonight. He said, “The chowder is GREAT!” The fish that we both had was cooked perfectly, the cod was flaky and the batter had the perfect amount of crunch. If your a Brit....get the steak fries, they are the closest thing to English Chips. Our search is over, “We have found our chippy.” I highly recommend you stop on by and try it out for yourself!

Prices are extremely reasonable - especially for the quality. Very talented chef cooked my lobster so well Im awestruck. NEVER have I had lobster cooked so perfect... and thats saying something as the closest Ive had to this was 25 years ago in San Diego. Wonderful clam chowder - and my husband doesnt even like clam chowder... yummy slaw, too. Steak cooked to perfection and the crab leg clusters... well, theres a reason were giving it 5 stars. Our waitress, Madison, was friendly and helpful - cooks are extremely talented too. Must say Ive never felt so safe anywhere else - love that they all open carry - wish we could give em a 10.

Went there based on someones review about the crab cakes, to that person I am begging you to never post reviews about restaurants again, you have no clue. I have been eating seafood from around the world, I am a huge crab cake fan, when I looked at the food I new right off the bat, they come out of a bag and frozen, needless to say they were horrible, the deep fried halibut awful, cooked to long so the fish was dry and the batter dont get me started. Price for a 5 star restaurant, food that should be on a dollar menu thats being generous. No need to say much more, Id be very surprised if this place is still open in a few months.

Went there last night, and Loved the atmosphere and service was great. My wifes food was amazing she got the Fish Tacos and Old English chips, my food however left a lot to be desired, I ordered the grilled shrimp and scallops. First off I didnt want rice and they wouldnt let me exchange it without paying an extra $2.50, and though the flavor was good my Shrimp and Scallops were way overcooked and chewy. and the scallops had something gritty in them. Was very disappointed with my meal.. I shared with my wife. If I did go again I think I would get the fish and chips or the fish tacos.

I heard about this place on KUTV the other morning (3/15). My interest was peaked by the open carry and the "World Famous Fish and Chips", which was said to be earning rave reveiws. I like good fish and chips. The combination of ambiance, food and service was one of the strangest(bad) experiences of my life, from beginning to end. To tell you my entire experience would take an hour. but in general, I agree with all of the negative comments already posted. I give it a one because there is no zero. I will NEVER trust a KUTV recommendation again. Sorry. Just being truthful.

I was really excited to try Sea Bears when I noticed their arrival at their new location. Went for lunch and was not disappointed. The fish and chips were good, although Im still waiting to try their old English chips to see if they are the real thing. Loved their hush puppies. However, their star is their Shepards Pie - hands down the best Ive ever had. And for $8, its a pretty good deal. Service was polite and attentive. I will be going back for the Shepards Pie alone, but looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

The Sheppards pie is amazing. Service was superb. Some of the staff even open carry and I absolutely love that. Atmosphere was very comfortable and quiet(we went at 8:00pm). Really fun place for couples and night out. The menu was different than I expected. I was expecting lots of traditional Scottish food selections and was a little disappointed not to see very many on the menu. It would be even better if they served some good Scottish adult alcoholic beverages and more traditional Scottish food.

This place is not good. Had the lobster tails. They were cold, overcooked, and undersized. They were so horrible I had to complain. I did receive a 1% discount "F" for effort to make this right. If I wanted to chew on overpriced cold leather I could have started chomping on my hand bag. The tea was stale. The service was slow. The hint should have been the fact we were the only diners on a saturday night. The one positive is the battered shrimp and fries were ok. Dont waste your money here.

VERY good food! The price reflects this, but theres a bit of a disconnect. After moving to their new location, their prices seem to have drastically increased. I LOVE fish and chips and again, these taste amazing, but what used to be a quick stop for lunch is not unattainable. I cant justify almost $20 to eat lunch. For myself, my wife, and my 2 boys (ages 4 and 7, they split a meal), for a basic dinner, it was more than $50. GREAT food, but thats a large pill to swallow.

The halibut was cooked well. This place really smells fishy though and I was surprised that a fish house didnt serve fresher fish or wild caught. My hubby, who isnt into seafood, ordered a burger and fries that came out burnt and unmemorable. They dont serve any vegetables which was extremely dissapointing and only small green salads. Everything is deep fried. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice and quiet- except for that fishy smell.

Food was pretty good although we had to wait a little longer than most places. My main complaint is the uncomfortable seating. The booths are broken down and if you sit in the wrong place theres a board going up your ass. Our table was lobsided and I noticed none of the tables and chairs in the restaurant matched. Not really a huge concern for a place thats just starting out, but if I come back I will definitely ask for a table next time.

Sea bears went above and beyond when I set a reservation to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary with them. They decorated our table with flowers and a candle with both mine and my husbands scottish clan and even had the live band dedicate a song to us. They really made us feel so special on our night and I couldnt thank them enough for all their hard work to make this night so memorable for us. Thank you thank you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
