I would give Metro Diner 3.5 stars if that was an option. We had the crab cake eggs benedict, the veggie omelette, and the basic breakfast combo. The crab cake eggs benedict was the best of the three by far. The veggie omelette was boring. Ours had very little cheese and the seasoning on the veggies was hard to detect. The breakfast platter was average, the hashbrowns were the tastiest bit on that plate other than the bacon. The eggs, toast, and pancakes were well cooked, but not very flavorful. Someone else at the table ordered the huevos rancheros, and at least visually it looked the best of the entrees on the table. Prices were about $2 higher than other diners Ive eaten at, but portions were increased along with it, which feels fair. Service was good overall. A few moments we sat with empty glasses, but not long considering the busyness. The biggest negative criticism is the noise. Theres no sound barrier between the dishes and plating in the back and the seating. Further theres just very little to block the sound in the seating area. We were all yelling to hear one another. All the seats were taken, so maybe at a slow moment, if there is one, it would be okay. If I went back, I would likely focus on their bolder flavor dishes and order take out.

Ive been two times for breakfast. Each time the food has been great. I highly recommend the cheese grits and the biscuits and gravy. While I havent had them, the popular chicken and waffles are for the extremely hungry, or best split between two people. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get. Its not a five dollar breakfast, but I didnt feel ripped off either. I cant rate any higher though, because the service has been spotty. The first time we went our server actively ignored us. This time our primary server was good with reasonable pre-bussing, kept drinks filled and was attentive without being hovering. However, I had my opinions about inconsistency reinforced, because I have my doubts about managements ability to weed out during the hiring process. Our trainee had zero personality and seemed about as excited as a teenager at their parents high school reunion family picnic. I felt like we were keeping her from her phone. Anyway, if you want great food and are willing to roll the dice on service, by all means go. Ill be back, but with my expectations set accordingly.

Ate at Metro Diner twice now. Good atmosphere. They are still working the bugs out. They have been open a week. Wait staff still walking around with trainers. But wait staff is very friendly and helpful. First visit, I ordered pastrami on rye and a side of seasonal vegetables. The pastrami was really good. It comes with Swiss cheese which was nicely melted. The meat was lean and flavorful. Id buy it again. The seasonal vegetable was grilled squash. It was a bit salty with no other detectable seasoning. At least it was healthy. Second visit, I got a cup of clam chowder which was too salty. I also ordered the blackened white fish wrap and fruit. The wrap was supposed to have a chipotle sauce, but I didnt taste it. The fish was cooked perfectly, however. Very moist and flakey. It was a generous portion. The fruit cup was pleasant. Overall, I like the diner. Will be a regular spot for me to eat.

Food was very good. Service left a lot to be desired. Jessika was more interested in conversing with her co-workers than caring about her tables. Ordered a all American burger, hold the pickles. When she brought our food out she put the plates on the table without a word and kept walking. I got the burger with cheese and a tomato and nothing else, so we asked for the slaw and mustard and never received it. When we asked her about it, she replied, "they never gave it to me", referring to the kitchen. We had to ask the floor manager to get the waitress to take our check so we could leave. The Floor manager displayed excellent customer service from start to finish. We normally tip very well, but tonight, we did not. We will probably go back but we will not sit in her section.

My wife and I had a late brunch here on a Tues. afternoon. She had the "Eggs, Hashbrowns & Toast" ($5.49) and told the waitress (Erin A) she liked her scrambled moist. The eggs came out exactly as my wife liked and Erin said in the future simply ask for "scram, lite." I ordered the "Breakfast Pie" ($8.99) which is a delicious brew of eggs, cheese, mushrooms (iots of them), peppers and red skinned potatoes. Everything came with more than generous portions cooked just right. An added bonus are stacks of premium Dickinson preserves on the table. For what its worth, I saw on the menu that they had half pound burgers so I asked if they could be ordered other than well done and was told I could get whatever I wanted.

We had a great experience since the moment we sat down at our table to the minute we left. The waitress was super nice the food ordering process was easy the preparation of the food didnt take long at all the drinks never ran out the waitress kept filling the drinks all the time, even while the place was packed the waitress kept coming to us and ask us if we need anything else if everything is OK or not. The general experience, from the food quality to the price with the great service this place in north Raleigh is definitely a 5 stars place.

Really good "comfort" food, good service. However, like many American restaurants today their portions are ridiculously large. And like many restaurants they charge you to share a meal. I would rather pay slightly less, get less, and not feel I should take home a box of extra food to justify the cost. I am not surprised that it is recommended by Diners, Drive-ins and Dives as it is good food served in huge portions, as seen on most episodes of that show.

I used to go to Metro about once a week and usually had a good experience but unfortunately this place is going downhill fast. The service and quality of the food has been in a steady decline but the last straw was last week when they brought my food out on a dirty plate. Pretty disgusting. Since that made my appetite disappear I told the server about it and decided to leave. No one apologized or seemed to care. That will be my last time at Metro.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this establishment. We had a great experience from the moment the door was opened for us until the time we left. The entire staff was super friendly and our fantastic waitress Megan has a magnetic personality. The food was melt in your mouth, beyond fantastic. The portions were good and the pricing was spot on. Whenever we are in the area we will definately drop in to eat. I highly recommend eating here.

We stumbled upon this place by accident, & had a wonderful breakfast. Our eggs were perfectly soft-scrambled, the biscuits huge & homemade, & the staff was friendly & attentive. I asked for salsa for my hashbrowns, & learned that every item is made fresh, including the salsa! Next time, well try fried chicken w/Belgium waffles, strawberry butter, & a spicy sauce drizzled on top. Pound cake French toast sounds intriguing, too!
