I read the great reviews here the night before, so I told my family to check out this place earlier today, Friday January 3rd, at around 1pm. The place was packed. Not surprised since the pace is super small. More like a café than a restaurant. I was told that I had to wait for 15 minutes. Luckily, the two customers were about to leave, and I just grabbed their table. The food were ok. My husband ordered Pad Phet which was extremely salty. I ordered a lot of appetizers for my kids (11 yrs and 4 yrs). The Thai crispy eggrolls were yummy, like came out of the hot oil kinda yummy. The pot stickers were warm, like they were microwaved or steamed from frozen. I personally didnt like them, but my 11 yr old liked them. The fresh egg rolls were ok... the same as any where else... nothing special. I ordered Pad Sa Si Ew, and it was pretty good. Tasted like I made them at home. I ordered miso soup for my son, but never got it. Instead, the server gave us 2 chicken lemon grass rice soup. Huh? We didnt order that. But we ate them anyway because we were hungry. And they tasted good even though they were lukewarm. There were only two wait staff and both were friendly. Food came out on time (not too fast, not too slow). We didnt see any Lao dishes on the lunch menu. But my husband and I agreed that this was the first restaurant in Texas that we visited with the name "Lao" in it. Wish there was Lao authentic dishes though. Anyway, if you dont cook Thai foods at home, Id recommend this place. But if you do cook Thai foods at home, their foods might taste average. But you know what, if I live in town and I dont feel like cooking, Id do a take out... maybe try out their other dishes to see if I would like them more. The 3 stars are for average dishes we ordered today. 4 stars for the friendly service, even though he mixed up the soup order. P.S. The "Look Inside" pictures on Google Maps are not correct. The place didnt look like the ones on the maps. FYI, I thought there was a parking lot in front of the restaurant. When we got there, we had to find parking space. We did the meter parking not far from the place.

This was my second time eating here as I’m not in San Antonio very often. Its still as good as I remember. The menu isn’t extravagant but doesn’t need to be. What they have is delicious. I was visiting for lunch on a Friday and got in a few minutes after they opened. When I sat down, the waiter welcomed me, asked for a drink order and brought me a cup of egg drop (?) soup. It was light and tasty. I ordered the pad thai with tofu at medium heat (should have ordered spicy or very spicy but you never know a place’s version unless you try it). Portion was just right and good for the price. Staff is friendly and quick. The space is clean. Its also an easy walk from the hotels in the downtown/riverwalk area.

This was an extremely poor managed place. The two waitresses were incompetent at best. Attitude with every question and more rude with each answer. Portions were very small. Cant follow simple directions of sauce on the side instead made my vermicelli dish more like salty soup. Very disappointed in this place as it seemed to be high rated in SA. Id much rather deal with Panda Express then this place. If you cant follow directions/instructions or hate dealing with customers dont work in the food/customer service field its not rocket science people. Owner was no help at all and made it out to be our fault despite extra meat and sauce on the side were both listed clearly in the ticket.

While visiting San Antonio for a School conference, my colleagues and I traveled off of the River Walk and stumbled upon a local gem. This place is a traditional Thai restaurant with fabulous appetizers and amazing, taste bud electrifying entrees. I had the Garlic Lover and being a huge garlic lover, it exceeded my expectations. My co worker ordered the Clay Pot, which she also gave excellent reviews on. I highly recommend this restaurant if you love/like Thai, and are in the San Antonio area. We saw a lot of locals there and it was a great atmosphere, and very good customer service.

This place knows Thai food!!!! Dont worry about the small appearance! Im from NY and was visiting family from the area, finally after spending most of the day hanging out at Riverwalk doing the tourist thing, we spotted Thai Lao Orchid. We had our doubts walking in but decided to let the food do the talking, and holy cow were we glad. Not only was the pricing very fair and the service was great, the food was exceptional too; perfectly cooked and generous portions. Possibly the best Thai food Ive ever had, I know I will be eating here every time I come to visit now.

This was my first time here, me and my friend were pretty hunger and so we walked over from work a few blocks away. When we walked in the the server didnt make the warmest greeting. The food was pretty small in portion. I ordered the pho they had, it literaly had three pieces of small chicken, so barely any meat. The girl who served us was pretty rude honestly and was also on her phone for most of the time. This was my first time, and was on a Sunday so it may not have been the best time to visit this place.

Great food! Small location. Its usually to crowded at lunch to get a table. So I normally do takeout. Their ac never seems to be working so it can get pretty hot and stuffy inside. And you will always leave smelling like thai food as the place is so small and the vent hoods seem under sized. The staff is ok, there are some that are kinda rude, but I keep going back because of the food. The curry and pad thai are amazing. If youre in the downtown area I recommend a try if you like good thai food.

I had the red curry and I loved it. Wasnt too strong but was strong enough, and it had zucchini and green beans in it which is my favorite to have in my curry. The other few Thai places Ive tried around San Antonio their curry was a lil too strong for me and they usually have peppers instead of zucchini and green beans. The only thing I didnt like about this place is they dont have sticky rice!! But otherwise it was great

Nondescript location that looked like it might be a mistake. The real mistake would have been walking by. Staff was friendly and service was attentive. Food was quick to table and server was on the spot with refills and entrees. Decor could use updating but the food was quick and superb. Will visit again if in the area. Take a chance, you wont regret it.

Maybe Im just used to Western type food, but it didnt sit well with me. Also, the pictures are outdated and misleading on here. I thought I was going to a warm and relaxing restaurant, but this place is definitely a hole-in-the wall. Dont get me wrong, I love hole-in-the walls, but I was expecting something else.
