All one would expect from a good family restaurant. Reasonable prices, good food, wide variety on the menu. We needed some place close to the airport and this was great (about 7 min. drive). All of our lunch selections were $7.95 (speciality sandwich w/fries, a hot turkey sub w/fries, and oriental salad with hot grilled chicken. All generous portion sizes and everyone was happy. The chicken on my salad I have to say was the best seasoned that Ive had in a long time. My only food critique, which has been my experience with ANY family restaurant, is that they always have iceberg lettuce instead of a romaine or spring mix. Id rather pay or buck or two more for the better lettuce. The only other improvement the restaurant needs is a ladies bathroom renovation -- long overdue. Overall positive experience.

The Skyland is not dirty. That is about the beginning and the end of the good things I could say. The food was atrocious. The pancakes were Bisquick (at least I hope so, if they were not, I dont even know what to say) or some other mix. How they managed make over-easy eggs runny (not the yolk) and undercooked, I do not know. The orange juice was bad. The Coffee was bad. Overall the food was not good...which is pretty much the first thing one looks for in a restaurant. I dont expect a lot from a greasy-spoon diner. In fact, I have eaten at many in my day. I expect that a short order cook should be able to do certain things pretty well. Cook an egg or a burger, make some pancakes, etc. The decor here is something to behold as well. Wow. Seen to believe only, but simply go check it out and eat elsewhere.

The food was good but the service was very bad, it was our first time going here and were not going back. We went in after work and waited to be seated, others that came in after us and were seated before we were, maybe they forgot we were waiting to be seated too, Idk. When we were finally seated it took forever for any service, our drinks came 20 minutes after we were seated at our table, and it was hour before we even got our food. We counted 4 groups of people that came in after us that were seated near our table who got there food, finished eatting and watched as other people were seated and brought there drinks before we even got our food. We asked several times about our food, if they forgot our order. The food was good, but after waiting an hour to eat it better be good.

the pancakes were like eating rubber, the service was bad. Waitresses were sitting down eating more than the customers. All the staff except the black girl were unattractive and unpleasant to eat around. The host and the hostess were racist and favored certain waitresses and customers. I would never go back there to eat because I got a peak at the cooks and one of them had sores all over his body!! And when I asked the very rude waitress if he was the cook, she said "yes and if you had a problem with it, eat somewhere else." Please if possible dont go there after 10:00pm. Look elsewhere for a place to eat with a cleaner enviroment and a more pleasant looking waitress.

We sat there for 10 minutes before anybody came over by us and when we ordered a drink she left without asking my husband what he wanted. Food came pretty fast the macaroni and cheese was disgusting the mashed potatoes tasted sour and had very little gravy and were dry. Overall it was a horrible experience the waitress never came back to ask us how the food was but came back to give us the bill after we kept staring at her. Went to pay the bill and the cashier kept talking to other customers while I was trying to talk to her and was very rude. Would never go back to this place I do like my mom and pop places but this place was disgusting and unbelievable.

I have been dining at Skyland Family Restaurant since 2005. I love the menu always many fresh veggies to choose from and Gyros Platter is my favorite. Tuesday pm there is Gospel/Blue Grass Band there - wonderful music for the whole family-no charge for this, but you can donate to band if you wish. My mom age 87 and I frequently meet with her friends at Skyland for birthday celebration dinners. The food is always the same price 24/7 - this is best family style home cooking restaurant I have found since I moved to Charlotte in 2005.Service is good, atmosphere friendly, and just quiet enough to enjoy a conversation with eating companions!

I really like the food here to my surprise. The place shows its age and the service runs the gamet from terrific to lousy. But the food each time I truly enjoyed. The meatballs are some of the best I ever had. So just get them as a meatball boat (non menu item) or go for the meatball sandwich. The fried chicken and the fried pork chops are also great. Salads are nothing special. Pasta is good. Best place in the area for late night dinner. And be sure to notice the pictures on the walls and the old wrestling memorabilia. Some cool little things in this place. I always enjoy it here.

THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME GETTING FOOD FROM THIS PLACE. I ORDERED A DELUXE CHEESE BURGER (DOUBLE CHEESE BURGER) ADD BACON AND ONION. CHECKED MY BURGER, THERE IS ONLY ONE PIECE OF MEAT AND ITS VERY HARD AND BRUNT. I MADE A CALL TO THE RESTAURANT TO LET THEM KNOW I WAS BRINGING THE FOOD BACK BECAUSE IT WAS WRONG. TOOK THE FOOD BACK, THE HOST WAS VERY RUDE WHEN I TOLD HER I WAS BRINGING THE MEAL BACK. FINALLY THE GUY WHO TOOK MY ORDER CAME TO GET MY FOOD TO SEND IT BACK.....I RECEIVED THE SAME BRUNT PATTY, AN EXTRA PATTY, RE DROPPED FRIES, OLD WILTED LETTUCE AND NO ONION......

My wife and mother in-law eat at Skyland often. There is a waitress there whos boy friend has called and gone by my 86 year old mother in-laws house bugging her for work she does not need of can afford, He sits on the bench outside Skyland seen smoking or inside just sitting. Last night right outside my wife, mother in-law and an elderly man were outside talking when a drunk/crazy guy in his thirties came out of no where and started ranting, then he just walked off. The food is good and staff is friendly but it is becoming unsafe or unsavory! Owners/Management need to step up!

It was okay. Not great, not bad. Food was okay. Portions were fair. Avg price on menu $8.95 I had the grilled flounder, which was breaded and fried in grease/oil....? I said I ordered grilled. She said "Oh honey, we just put it in some flour before putting it on the grill". Macaroni & cheese was terrible. Sliced peaches out of can. And a cup of soup while we waited for lunch. $9.95 + a beverage. Good for a lunch hour away from fast food. People were nice. Except for the ceiling it looked clean. I would eat here again just because its close to where Im working.

This restaurant is a great place to eat. I have been going to Skyland for over 5 years; eating there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff is so sociable and professional. One thing I really like, they treat the elderly patrons with respect and take their time with them; that is a major plus. I have been going to this restaurant for over 5 years. The service has never dropped and the food is absolutely exceptional. If you want a friendly atmosphere and awesome food, this is the place to go!!!!!! Highly recommend to everyone!!........5 stars for sure.
