An old standby for lunch from years ago, this restaurant was always considered an excellent choice for a fairly quick, reasonable priced and delicious lunch. On a recent return visit, I found that it still hits the mark for most categories though the shrimp seemed a little less than fresh this time. I have noticed what could be a trend in many of the local Chinese food places whereby the shrimp is not as tasty as it used to be some years ago. Of course I attribute this to the increasing price of shrimp and restaurants attempt to cut those costs by using imported seafood from Asia that is of lesser quality, pumped full of antibiotics and largely un-inspected and unlabeled for source. Give me good ole Texas Gulf shrimp every time and I am a happy camper. I am not sure how they source their shrimp here, but it is definitely not Gulf Coast shrimp. The Shrimp and Vegetable dish, subject to the aforementioned observations also contained mostly carrots. Surely water chestnuts, bokchoy, etc. has not gotten that expensive?1? The beef and vegetable dish had nice tender bites of beef, but, with the overwhelming presence of broccoli should more adequately have been called Beef and Broccoli. Service was adequate and friendly and the place is still comfortable though maybe a little worn looking reflecting the number of years it has been in business. The lunch specials may still keep me coming back, but I may just have to avoid dishes with shrimp from now on.

Definitely seen better days- Ive gone here on and off since the 90s. Parking lot is mostly empty these days. Entrees were tasty although not a hint of spice in the spicy dish that I made mention of that I like it spicy. Lettuce wraps (used to be so good and far better than PF Changs) were blah and needed soy sauce and were delivered in two individual lettuce cups. The worst part was with the entrees we got one with steamed rice and one fried rice, pretty typical right? I was charged an extra $1.95 for fried rice- with no warning. And that was probably the least flavorful fried rice Ive ever had. No egg, no veggie nothing. Im not sure how they got it browned as it wasnt even salty. All in all, while okay, there is no reason to go back. Youll find me at Sichuan up the street for good Chinese food.

Its a gamble. I have eaten at this establishment for over five years. Initially it was frequent. Due to the bad service with to go orders and dine in. I have found myself less and less compelled to stay a customer. The food is often changing and at times over cooked, reheated or just ill prepared. I have had more than half my to go orders missing an item. My order has been given to another customer. More than once I have been served something that I didnt order. When done right this location can make a great meal. Problems have been expressed with management only to have them remark" We make mistakes what do you want?" Simple: I want service and the food I pay for.

Friends have highly recommended Taipei to me, but I had been hesitant to go there because of mixed reviews on various sites. I dined there with my extended family and found the whole experience to be very good. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was well prepared and tasty, the restrooms were clean. So often with Chinese food you end up with sugary-high-sodium-glop on a plate, but we found the food here to be far from that. From the egg and spring rolls to the lamb to the shrimp everything tasted fresh and had a variety of spice and flavor. I will definitely go back.

I cannot believe this place is owned by the same people that own Sushihana. We absolutely love Sushihana, great people, food is amazing...so we figured we would try their sister restaurant, Taipei Chinese...how disappointing. Our server was not very nice, and worse yet, the food was horrible. My wife, my son and I ordered three totally different dishes, but yet, they all tasted the same...like salty food. No freshness in the veggies, everything was just shelaked (sp?) in salt. I know typical chinese, but this was bad. I would stay away from this place.

Never eating here again!! We ordered general tsos chicken and lemon chicken on 12/3/16. The lemon chicken tasted too chewy for chicken and when I bit into the only bite of my friends general tsos, I found inside the chicken what looked to be a silver wire, like from a brillo pad or a scrub brush. I almost swallowed it until I felt the tinging sensation on my teeth, I thought it was a bone, but low and behold....I dont know how it ended up inside the chicken, but it was definitely a shock. Im sickened and appalled and will never eat here again.

I have had it with this place. They used to have the best Chinese food in town. Now its literally inedible. The "beef" has the weirdest, most awful texture Ive ever experienced. Its fatty and chewy like gum. The brown sauce used to be thick and delicious, now it is thinner and sweeter but bland other than that hint of sweetness that I dont enjoy. This is the third time in a row that Ive gotten terrible quality food from this place, and Im done. There are buffets that have better food.

Not filling and pricey While the food did taste good, it was not enough, costs over $30 for 2 people (had water, no extras), and was ready in a whopping 3 minutes! makes me wonder if theyre just scooping the food out of trays like at panda express. Overall: I did not find this worth it the cost; good food, but for half the cost you could go elsewhere and be equally happy. Service was not good either (I had to ask for our drinks a second time AFTER our food came out.

The service was good. The food was horrible. The kung pao chicken had some type of sweet sauce. It just tasted wrong. The honey walnut shrimp had a bland brown sauce that turned the honey walnuts into just walnuts. It was cooked with lots of celery. Yup, celery...LOTS of celery. There was nothing sweet about this dish. This place is way over priced for the crappy food you are getting.

The food is very good and the service is usually great. They have great lunch specials, especially the daily lunch special. I have been there many times for lunch and the food is very consistent. The hot and sour soup is fantastic. Unless you prefer your General Tsos Chicken and Sesame Chicken to be sweet and barely savory, dont order them.

Ive been going to this place for decades- the best chinese food in town!! Large portions, great service, and now theyve started special deals, too (Tuesday night is family night...50% off chinese food). On the whole I find their chicken dishes to be much better than the beef dishes, and I highly recommend the Sesame Chicken and Almond Chicken.
