Basically been going here for a few years and have spent literally hundreds of dollars here, and recently started playing competitive MTG again for the first time in ages. Turns out the judge named Frank there is a bit of a giant douche and fixes peoples match ups in play. For the past few months I have showed up, after a small spat with him outside of the tournaments, regarding the crappy meta game of Modern and Standard, hes sat me at a top table first round to see what Im playing and then proceeded to pair my matches against my decks worst matches. Before the spat I would get prizes and hold decent play records, but afterwards, its been fairly obvious hes been assigning my seating to regular netdecking tournament "Sweepers". These are the folks that buy whole new decks every time a new deck tops at a premier event. Same nonsense happened last time I went, where I got sat at a top table where he watched my first match, after yet again pairing me against one of the regulars he knows by name, playing Temur Aetherworks netdecked Marvel. I beat the deck with control. He the proceeded to pair me with mirror match control decks after seeing my deck was geared to deal with rampant aggro decks in the format. Despite there being 22 players and most of them running aggro, I got paired with 3 regular players Frank knew by name and were known Sweepers, who were playing control. Same players I see the judge schmoozing before and after events. Prior to this, I was running T1 variants of GB aggro and rbg aggro, but somehow was paired against Saheeli combo multiple times a night, even getting paired up after losing previous round to the same deck. This happened three weeks in a row before I stopped coming till Saheeli was banned. Each time I skipped play and came back, hed assign my seat to a table that was convenient to see what I was playing and he would coming over and watch. Since wizards tracks these things, and I downloaded the even software that is used to create matches, I know Frank is able to assign players to whatever table number he wants and theres no real way to prove it unless you can go in to the Old events and see how people were seated, if it was manually, or like its supposed to he, randomly. Its because of shady things like this that Ive seen, that I decided to recently sell my collection and have stopped offering my patronage (and money) to Mox Boarding House. I reported these shenanigans to the management, but nothing was done and I received a letter stating "we could find no evidence", even though I had told them in an email that its not really able to be proven unless you can look up how matches were made and tables assigned. Either way, I hope this serves as a warning to potential magic players and buyers at Mox.

This is a great place to hang out and play games with friends. Whether that be in the gaming area or the restaurant area. However, its not perfect. The food/drinks are on the pricey side. The drinks are decent and they even allow samples which is great. In addition to the price, the food is extremely sub par to even the most average restaurants. Then theres service and cleanliness. The friend I was with sat down in their chair when we were seated(after waiting a few minutes with employees staring at us off and on) and there was some sort of...substance in the chair. Didnt complain, just moved chairs. The table was also disgusting as if it hadnt been wiped down at all during that day. The table surface was almost gummy if I had to describe it. Now, Im not someone who complains very often about service. Ive worked in fast food and in waiting and I know what the job is like. BUT whoever used my card when I went to pay for my meal overcharged my card. I dont mean by accident, I mean the amount I left for a tip(which was the correct % for a normal tip) was bumped up a little bit to make an even amount without any change(for example if the bill with tip was 14.23, it was bumped up to 15 even.) Not a huge deal, but the principle of the thing is what really irks me as it is essentially stealing. Doesnt matter that it was only a small amount. I would recommend anyone who pays with a card here to pay attention to your transactions to make sure they dont take a few cents here and there. If they do this regularly to their customers Im sure that adds up at the end of the month/year. Tread carefully. TL;DR: Good place to play games and have drinks. Bad place for food/service.

I went to Mox Boarding House to eat dinner with some of my friends and play from their selection of board games. The place is beautiful and huge. All the food looked great and the games were so fun. However, my one complaint about this place, was the service. The staff was very friendly, but the waitress was horrible. She didnt come by once to refill our waters, even though they wwre refilled five times total that night. Didnt ask if our food was okay. Didnt ask if she could get us any dressings. There was no service at all and we were right next to the bar, where she was practically the whole night. Youd think in Bellevue of all places youd have at the least, decent service. It was as if she took one look at us and decided not to do her job. It was incredibly rude. However, it doesnt discourage me from coming back. Will definitely come back but with a request for a different server.

There are a lot of things to like about Mox! In the restaurant, the food is tasty and affordable, and the tap list offers a nice variety. Seating can potentially fill of pretty quickly though. I also like the look and feel of the restaurant, it felt nice and "swanky". I think they have a bar-only section, but I didnt check it out. As for the retail side, they have a wonderfully huge selection of games to purchase or to borrow for the day. There are lots of tables to play on and the staff are friendly and helpful. They also have a tournament hall for various games and a miniature play room if you like games that use miniatures. Ive only been here once so far, but I definitely liked what I saw and plan on going back to explore more soon. One thing to note however is that parking is pretty limited, so if youre going with a group of people, do your best to carpool.

Great place to play some board games!! They have three rooms. The first looks like your typical board game sho store room. You can buy games there or come one out from the front desk and play it right there in the store!! There are plenty of tables to sit down at and play!! There are a huge variety of games to try and if youre not sure where to begin, the staff well be more than happy to help out. The second room is a tournament room, used exactly for that. Theres the third room where you can play your games (checked out from the front desk) but also have food and drinks. You can only have water while playing games in the store front room but in the third room (restaurant at the Mox) you can play games and order food and alcohol while sitting in booths playing games!! Great place to hang out!!
