Biryani Pot is one of the best Indian restaurants in town. In fact, Kohinoor is the only one that is clearly better, and I think this one is equal to Bawarchi Biryani Point in terms of taste but better in terms of atmosphere. The chicken 65 was spicy, delicious, and flavorful. Not only that, it was plentiful for the price. The garlic and basil naan was pretty good, better than most naan. I definitely appreciate that the garlic wasnt burnt like at a lot of Indian restaurants. The chicken biryani was very delicious and full of flavor. It wasnt dry, and it didnt taste like it was just thrown together haphazardly. The flavors were blended, and there was many flavors - not one or two predominant flavors. I tried the butter chicken, and it was delicious. Some might think its two sweet, but it was rich and creamy, one of the best butter chicken dishes in town. The chicken was rather standard, but above average, as it wasnt too dry or overpowering. However, I think it could be improved a bit. All in all, everything we ate here was very good to excellent. I was very pleased with my meal. The only thing I didnt like was the water has no ice :( In short, Biryani Pot is definitely one of the top 3 Indian restaurants in town. If you want to eat in, choose this spot. If youre doing take out, toss a coin between this place and Bawarchi Biryani Point. Theyre both great. Technically, Kohinoor is Pakistani, but its my favorite place in town.

Only have lived in SA for about three months now and have been desperately looking for a new Indian cuisine location that has fresh food rather than buffet quality. After numerous disappointing experiences at competing locations, claiming to have the best in town and with relatively positive reviews, I finally stumbled across this location. I absolutely love the friendly staff and excellent customer service. Wait staff is very attentive and extremely accomodating. The ambiance in the restaurant is perfect. I ordered their signature chicken biryani plate and requested it to be spicier than normal. The food arrived promptly, fresh, and exceeded my expectations. Very delicious and well prepared. The bread was also very good. Overall my experience was extremely positive. However, my only complaint is with the amount of chicken, or lack thereof, I received with my order. I was expecting much more meat for the price I paid for this plate. I was disappointed it was only a couple of pieces of chicken and a massive amount of rice. Also, I could have just missed it in the menu but wheres the lemon rice?!

When I first wrote this review, it was after only having the Chicken Tikka masala. I still think its great, but, it doesnt make up for the serious health concerns I have with how they prepare some of their other dishes. Particularly when eating their chicken shwarma, and chicken briyani, be prepared to pick out varying sized chunks of bone. Im sure there is a reason why the bones are left in, probably flavor, but its very frustrating when there are just giant chunks of bone instead of actual chicken. Its even more infuriating when you think you got them all out, and then you choke on a small piece of bone floating around which you cant really see on a dark sauce. Maybe Im just ordering wrong, but, some warning of this would be nice before being served it. Its a serious choking hazard as it is now, so be careful, eat slow, or just avoid it altogether. Theres no problem with bones in their Tikka Masala, so if youre looking for something safe, go with that.

The taste of the chicken biryani was great. But by volume, it was 40% chicken bone. Very difficult to eat, and they used the cheapest parts of the chicken, namely the leg and some of the back of the chicken. Dont misunderstand, I know that the bone helps make it tasty and I have no problem with that, and I like the fact that they use moust dark meat rather than dry white meat like most Indian restaurants in San Antonio . But they should at least use a couple of chicken thighs, which are mostly meat and have just one solid bone, instead of the back which is comprised of many little bones that can break off and get into your mouth as youre chewing the rice, or the drumstick, which is full of sinew and little sharp bones. As far as taste, though, it tasted excellent.

I dont know the taste of the food here but Id like to comment on the service here. We went to this restaurant on 12/26/16 and had waited around 10 minutes to get seated. After settling down, we had asked for biryani and waiter had told us that Biryani was sold out. We went to the front desk to ask why were we not informed about it while we waiting to be seated and the rude and sarcastic response was that we did not ask about it. Also, he was making fun us by saying that wine shops in India wont serve wine so "Biryani pot" need not necessarily serve Biryani. After the worst experience we left the place for dining else where and decided to spread the word about the management and their attitude towards customers.

Ive been to Biryani Pot many times and always been pleased. Out of all the Indian restaurants in San Antonio, this one is hands down the best. They pack much more flavor into their dishes compared to all the other options around town. Beware: the dishes are SPICY! For a chili head like me, I want my Indian food to make me sweat! It can be difficult to find restaurants offering up the right amount of heat, but Biryani Pot delivers! If youre sensitive to spicy foods, beware that their medium spice level is hotter than what most other restaurants offer as their spiciest option. And that makes the place that much better in my opinion.

When i had the biryani the first time, it was very spicy for my taste. When i went the 2nd time, i told the guy to make sure that the spice level is so less as if a child is going to eat it. He said, it will be done. First, the food (veg combo) comes after a 20 minute wait. Secondly, the spice level is same as the 1st time. They simply lied to me about reducing the spice level. If they cannot do it, they should have simply told me, i would have ordered something else. The vegetable in the combo was also very very spicy. Had acidity afterwards. They should not lie to customers about reducing spice level when they dont do it!!
