I WOULD DO ZERO STARS IF IT ALLOWED! Being desi I usually dont expect good customer service at Indian restaurants especially if your Indian yourself! So my expectations were low to begin with, but their food at the Austin location was good; so we decided to try this location out. First of all I would like to say I AM VERY SORRY FOR HELPING and it was OUR fault the whole situation had happened!!! We came were seated in room in the back as we were a large party, no AC; so my sister had to tell them to turn on as we had six kids with us who had been to touring the Riverwalk in Texas heat. Next we ordered and were told order now because the kitchen will not take any other orders. We asked waitress how much longer she rudely said "As the food is ready theyll bring out." We finally get our food 20 minutes later. I see the other waiter come to the door hesitatingly/wobbly with our food and turn to go back and then decides to come back towards us...my husband offers to help and the waiter tilts the tray and spills the hot curry on my two year old and me. Thats fine we remain calm and make sure she didnt get burned. He goes on the other side puts those same bowls on our table and walks out. My husband tells him were going to need new chairs as it spilled also on the chairs and the floor. He pulls the chairs away leaving us chair less. Thats fine Im cleaning my daughters legs, hair, dress, and shoes and myself. My husband goes and grabs new chairs for us after standing for awhile for someone to come and bring the chairs and clean the floor, but NO one came. So I wiped the floor and we sat down. We told the waitress on her next round down that the other waiter had spilled the curry and we wanted a replacement, shes like ok "Give me that and Ill have them remake!" REALLY with six kids and waiting 20 minutes she takes the dish and asks us to wait again!!! We also pointed out that we were short one dish and she claims "We cancelled it" I turn around to my husband questioning him and he said no, she said kitchen was closed so nothing can be done even though another large party was sat down behind us 10 minutes before their closing and were waiting on their food. Now I was getting my patience tested, we ask for manager...YES he had not appeared until we asked for him, even after all this. If we were white this situation had been acknowledged but were brown so nothing. He comes and asks whats happened, REALLY!!!! My husband calmly tells him the guy spilled our curry and went to get replacement and we had ordered another dish that she refused because we had supposedly cancelled. Bald South Asian manager tells us "The waiter said you were trying to help, so he spilled it!!!!!!!!" WHAT!!! Did he just blame us for all this! NO apology, NO asking if my daughter was ok, NO cleaning up or new chairs given! The kitchen was closed so he couldnt do anything. I was fuming, my patience cap was blown! The only thing that got him to budge was when I had threatened to leave a bad review, and got a comment of "Theres no reason to argue" and to remain calm! Then he offers to bring the last dish on the house that was never touched as we were all done eating and lost whatever appetite we had. We go to the bar to pay and have to ask for manager again even though every employee knew what had happened to us. Lady goes "Hes in the back" and stands there giving us the receipt. My husband asks for her to call him. He shows up after a few minutes. not a single penny discounted we paid for what we ate $100+. My husband calmly tells him we are in the customer service business as well and there is such a thing as an APOLOGY and that we will not be returning here regardless of how many times we have had good service at the Austin location! After we pay he says "What can I do to have you come back?" NOTHING its too late, if you really wanted our business you would have done something earlier! NOTE: If your WHITE you will never go through problems like this at an Indian restaurant as they will lick your ass to satisfy you!

Absolutely the best flavors ever for traditional Indian food. Ever since coming here I have not been back to any other Indian restaurants in San Antonio. The Tikka Lamb Masala is my favorite. The Goat Haleem was a special today and it was fabulous. The Chicken Curry is also great. All are nicely spiced with solid flavor and thick creamy sauce perfect for dipping Garlic Naan. The only draw back is at times the service could be better on drink refills and on timing of food as things in the front of the house seem unorganized. But the food is absolutely perfect. Oh. Very nice owners as well. UPDATE. today on 7/27/16 had a friend who is a chef go here and been telling him how wonderful it is. He didnt eat there. When he sat down at the table multiple roaches scurried around and after he pointed it out the server girl just wiped the table and walked away. Attentive service has been an issue a few times but the wonderful food always overcame the lack of service attention. But lack of attention to cleanliness is not acceptable. I will not be returning until I hear this is properly handled and the restaurant has proper sanitary and pest control measures implemented. 7/16/17. I tried them again as a lot of time has gone by and I had to get some Indian food. Since the bad review I been to no other Indian places since Spice far outshined others. I did not see any major cleaning issues, although I would not call the place super clean as there were a couple neglected dirty dishes and buffet plans laying around in view. That said. The food was as wonderful as always and the marginal service on par with how it always has been. Yet the friendliness of the staff and their attempt at satisfying the customer is clear. They truly do care and are trying their best. My 5 star rating is for the food only. I will hold onto hope the service and cleanliness continues to improve slowly. But the food is just too good to rate this place any lower. Just be warned. I love bold spicy foods. Order spice level here like you would at a traditional Thai food place. If you love bold spicy heat go for it like I do and tell them to spice it up! If you like mild flavor with limited heat, be sure to let them know and order a very low spice number. Ah. I love the food here!

This place rates five enormous stars. Im writing as someone who very much enjoys Indian food, owns his own karhai, and has enough mason jars full of spices to make his own palak paneer, chana masala, etc. I like Indian food a lot. This place is phenomenal. The owner told me everything was made from scratch because I tasted cardamom and wanted to know whether it was green or black (it was green). A friend and I went and both had three plates of food. The tikka masala chicken was hands down, the best tikka masala Ive ever had at any restaurant - and this is a buffet. Thats saying a lot. The chana masala was fantastic, with a hint of cardamom and delicious earthyness, with just the right amount of snap in the chickpeas. And the galub jamun? Quite the treat. Forget milk balls soaked in syrup that are an eight year olds high - these were all also homemade and were a symphony of flavors that stacked upon each other but didnt overwhelm the palate. If you ever want to get Indian food in San Antonio, go here. Also, I forgot the best part - in 2015, the lunch buffet was $12. I would pay $40 for food this good at a regular sit down restaurant but here, you can have whatever and how much ever you want of everything. Five stars, phenomenal food.
