After trying most of the Indian restuarants in town, Bawarchi is only one of two that are good (the other being Kohinoor, which I think remains the best). Kohinoor is Northern Indian/Pakistani food, and Bawarchi is Southern Indian. Its far, far better than Sarovar for those familiar with the place. One dish we had was chicken briyani. While there wasnt much chicken in the somewhat small serving, they did add ghee (clarified/cultured butter) to the recipe which was absolutely delicious They also top the naan with ghee as well, which was well-received by our party. The chicken 65 was a delicious appetizer that I wish I would have order another plate of (or two). We also had two of the desserts (mango cake and mixed fruit cake) that resemble in a way a Mexican tres leche recipe but with fruit mixed in. Neither were quite my cup of tea, but the rest of the party liked them. Overall, Bawarchi Biryani Point is a great restaurant: the best Southern Indian in town and one of the top two Indian restaurants in general. Still, Kohinoor remains my favorite.

This was my first experience at Bawarchi Biryani Point. I had the Spicy Chicken Dum Biryani and it was excellent. I am not normally a fan of rice dishes, but I was told it was the specialty of the house so I took a risk. It was the perfect amount of spicy, the rice had a wonderful texture, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Additionally the portion sizes were huge, which I appreciate as I have a big appetite. Overall I liked it a lot. Additionally I tried the chicken 65. I was completely blown away by the great flavor and almost a tempura batter on the them. Nice and crispy without being greasy. . I could easily eat that for a meal, or add it to any other meal. in my opinion it is best in town. The decor was nice, but not amazing. the service was excellent. we were greeted when we came in and very helpful menu discussion. I would certainly recommend this place, and I will be back.

Bawarchi Biryani point is by far the best all around Indian restaurant in town. They have a great selection of North and South Indian items. They offer a good variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian items. The dosas are really good and are accomplied by some incredible chutneys. The appetizers - Punugulu, Smosa chat, pav bhaji, chicken 65, Gobi Manchurian are all very good. The biryani with meat options are fantastic. The veggie biryani is not all that tasty and I would definately recommend the Szechuan Fried rice or the regular vegetable fried rice over the vegetable biryani. The Nan/bread is decent and almost any curry on the menu is worth a try. The food is very adequately spiced, salted to perfection, cooked thoroughly and the meat is well done. The wait staff is very polite and attentive to your needs. The dining experience can sometimes be marred by fellow diners who lack civility.

An average Indian restaurant. Ambiance : Just OK Food : Average. I was excited one day to learn that the restaurant was making plain parathas south Indian style, and tasted great too. Later a month, i decided to for a take away, and ordered parathas. It was sheer disappointment, was old, burnt, and nothing like what i had the first time. Was every upset that they didnt keep up the good work. Friends ordered biryani, and it was just so-so. Their dosas are good, cannot complain. Dessert : Ive ordered Gulab jamun, and it was served super hot to begin with, which i guess out of patience, we all can still wait to cool it. But as i started to have it, it wasnt cooked too well inside, and was hard, and just the sugary syrup. Verdict : I may or may not go again, just because San antonio has so little indian restaurant to chose from.

Its still the only indian place that i frequently visit in san antonio. 1 because there is no other authentic place, and 2 all other indian places around are way far from being OK. Seeing is believing at times july 4th was a judgment day i guess, there were sooo many people. A lot standing out as there was no place inside anymore. Luck me i ordered a take out. Yet had to wait 15 min, which was fine looking at other people I liked the food. The portions were good, especially with the jumbo pack. Ordered both chicken with bone and boneless biryani. Paneer was exceptionally good, also the malai kofta. deserts i tried and like ras malai.. will try the keema biryani next time, found many good reviews on it.

The food is good here but the hospitality is not upto mark. The timings of the restaurant are till 10 pm on weekends. And if you are having dinner and you ask for a naan around 9:30. These guys come up saying that the kitchen is closed. They do not care if you leave their place hungry. I would recommend that whenever you visit this place, ask them for the kitchen closing timings. Getting such an excuse in the middle of your meal is really ridiculous and annoying! Before closing their kitchen they should atleast inform their guests that the kitchen is going to be closed and ask them if they need to order something. The worst part is that they would welcome new incoming customers and serve them food.

The food was good! I got the chicken thats cooked in the stone plate thing and the samosa. The samosa was amazing I got 2 more to go. My only concern was that there was barley anything on the plate. I mean ya there was like 7 thick well cooked pieces of boneless chicken smothered in that classic Indian spice. But thats it... Im a guy who cant eat much but at I was expecting more from a 10 dollar plate. At least a side... the mound of white tasteless rice probably weighted more than the chicken plate. Either way Thank you for the meal. Much appreciated.

I was in San Antanio for a business visit, visited this place yesterday (04/04/2017), the food here is pathetic . The only reason I visited this place is thinking that this could be a franchise of actual Bavarchi (Which is very famous in Hyderabad India) but I am proved wrong. I have ordered mutton (Lamb) biryani and the taste is very bad, the food is very greasy no flavors of authentic biryani. Service is very very poor. Had to wait 20 minutes for the waiter to show up for the cheq.

This is a pathetic place. It violates all the food hygiene standards set by the US health department. Not only that it lacks basic hygiene too. I ordered Tea, it was just warmed up in a microwave and served in a cup that had hair on it. The sugar cup had stains on it. When you ask for the order to be cancelled they act shocked. They want you to eat that unhygienic food. Customer service is zero. My bad I should never expect that in an Indian Restaurant. Cheap Bastards

Used to be my go to place for indian food, now the food is over priced, and the butter chicken comes out liquidy, instead this nice thick paste like it used to. Cutting corners and raising prices wont help your bottom line guys. Also, they upcharge for garlic naan substitution now, $1.29. I used to get a meal out of this place for $10, its now closer to $14. Id happily pay the extra price if the product was better, what a let down.
