Went there with my wife and our 4 year old a week ago. I am only writing this review now because I was checking out the cafe up the block next to thavma and saw the red pin. We were seated quickly and the place seemed busy. We thought we were in for a treat! The waitress stopped by to see if we were ready, but being there our first time, we hadnt navigated the menu and it was fairly large. She did not offer any suggestions to help, so we pressed on. When we were ready to order, the waitress disappeared for 10 minutes. As we placed the order , we asked if they would bring my son crayons and something to color. The Waitress told me I would have to walk up to the hostess and ask her for this. Ok...I walked over and was told they ran out. BTW, didnt see a single table with kids drawing anything, but I digress. It took some time for the food to arrive but it looked ok. My wife hated her meal and my Matza Brei tasted like cardboard. The sour cream and "pink" apple sauce did not help moisten this. I wont even mention the after effects on our digestive tract leading us to believe the food was managed with unclean hands. Needless to say, that was the first and last time we go. Guy Fiery mentioned how great the apple pie was, and we understand why he limited one dessert item from many others on the menu. Truly a horrible experience!

Any diner I have ever been to and got my kids the kids menu chicken fingers have I ever been disappointed. But this diner I was more then disappointed I was disgusted! They dont give the kids chicken fingers but chicken nuggets. These chicken nuggets were worse quality then a fast food restaurant. Did not look like chicken at all, just a white foamy material. My daughter took one bite, revealing a brown vien, and spit it out. I told my waitress and she said if you want the chicken fingers you have to order the dinner. The kids chicken nuggets was $8 way over priced for that quality. I told my waitress I would not be paying for those. She told me to tell the woman at the register. When at the register the manager came up to me, and not in a kind way at all, and started saying how he looked at them and they were fine. Denied there being brown veins at all but said hell refund it anyways. Total douche. The menu, the pricing, the staff all horrible. Never again for me.

Going there was horrible. The food was to pricey and it was not worth the price. One of us bought steak we order medium rare they burnt it and we had to still pay for it costed it 23 dollars. Everything is covered in grease it is disgusting, once I had a bite I felt like my mouth dripping in it. The staff was horrible we ask for separate checks she still groups us as a party even though we told her not to. Then when paying the cashier could not do basic math to the point we just gave the change to them, so we can leave. Never going back to the diner, horrible experience. Overall pricey, not worth it, and rude staffing

No. No, no, no. People who swear by the Ritz Diner either have been going here since the food was good (at least 25 years ago) or just have no taste buds left. Theres cheaper, theres better, theres more diner-like atmosphere, theres more room to sit, theres _certainly_ more room to park, all over Livingston and neighboring towns. L-town residents know to go to Golden Touch if they want to eat at a diner. If you want a local breakfast, hit up Livingston Bagel. Anything is worth a 5-10 minute drive.

Used to coming for breakfast but today we came after the lunch rush. Even though it was quiet the waitress took her time to initially greet and take our order. She didnt get my initial beverage until I asked again, she didnt wait until we finished to give us the check and then disappeared. Cole slaw looked like it was sitting out all day and onion rings looked as if only the thin ones were fried so you taste oil rather than onion.

Ive been going to this diner for nearly 35 years. From the German Apple Pancake to their expertly prepared fish - I really like their food. If its not on the menu, their Sole Supreme served with mashed potatoes is my favorite fish preparation and on par with what you could get in the city. Ask them and they can prepare it gluten free as well. Get a black and white cookie for dessert.

Look, it is a diner and it is kind of overpriced. But the truth is, Ive been going here for more than 30 years and they are probably the most Dependable restaurant not only in Livingston but in the entire area. The food is good, the menu is vast, the service is not that great, the patrons are somewhat snobby, but its the Ritz Diner. And you need to go there if youre in Livingston.

I saw this place on dinners, drive-ins and dives, I said this is great right around the corner. Well Ill have to call Guy and tell him they must have had other cooks that day because it was to say the least HORRIBLE! The brisket was dry and the Monte Christo sandwich was Monte Crapo! Guy come back and visit on another day and dont tell them youre coming

The Ritz diner is a great place to meet with friends and family or even for business. Nothing truly outstanding, the food is average to good at best. The thing I like is that the waiters and waitresses usually stick for a while giving it that refreshing feel of friendly atmosphere. They have some of the best baked goods and some good breakfast deals.

Was very disappointed. My waitress was rude and was complacent to other groups. When we went to pay the bill with two cards the register woman got frustrated, slammed our cards on the table and stormed off. The menu is also very difficult to read and even when the waitress explained it, I was still confused. And my eggs came in such a small portion.

The Ritz Diner is your classic New Jersey diner. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited and loved the apple pie. We visited and quite enjoyed their German pancake and their egg, mushroom and cheese omelette. Eggs seem quite generic, but their eggs tasted great. Service from a helpful Hungarian was also excellent. Best diner in the Livingston area.

The Ritz Diner is a Livingston staple - always dependable, with attitude to match. Matzo ball soups outstanding, as are all the breakfast goodies. Award-winning apple pie, great atmosphere. Completely and totally packed on weekend mornings - best late at night, like most diners. Extra special because it defines the town.

Good food and great selection, service is a bit iffy but otherwise a pretty good diner. Just be sure not to go there in the busy hrs , rather loud and service can be slow when this place is jammed packed. If you dont mind the wait then it is a place worth dining at.
