Recently we went to Bayleaf for the first time and had an amazing experience. When our questions about what was Vegan on the menu started confusing the new waiter, the house manager Nin came over and helped us make decisions, pointing out the dishes that were the best for Vegan eaters. When the food arrived, fresh and hot, not only was it pleasing to the eye, but it woke up my taste buds and gave me little pleasurable shudders as I started eating. The pickled vegetables were succulent and salty and made me want more. I let out little sigh of pleasure while eating the curry. When I tasted the mushroom dish, I could not believe something so exquisite could come out of a kitchen. We lingered over the rice and curry, papadum and roti. The only negative experience was an inexperienced waiter who kept asking if we wanted boxes when it became obvious we were winding down but not leaving. And the other server who, when delivering our food said "this isnt my table, but..." Never a good thing to hear from waitstaff. I hope to make Bayleaf a regular stop when shopping in Lawrence, KS, which is about twice a month. Thank you to the cooks who made such great tasting food, and a house manager who cares about their guests!

I went there because I like to try new restaurants. When I stepped in this one, everything feels ok, the menu is simple and the price of the food was suggesting a good service. I was sitting by the window. The curtain was really dirty, dust and dried out rice was sitting on there. The. I looked closely at the table, utensils, napkin. Everything feeler so cheap. Then my dish came. The food taste ok but the presentation of those food was terrible. Service was not professional. My server came after I finish my meal and my water cup was empty. She didnt took my plate and didnt even bother to fill my water cup. Two star is for that ok food

We were a part of a large party (11 people) about 1 month ago. Service was excellent. Great atmosphere. All entrees were served in close proximity of the other. I had lamb curry and my husband had goat curry -- and you can request the level of spice -- mild, moderate, and hot. Serving sizes were ample, and most of us were happy to take some left overs home. The naan was REALLY good and plentiful for a small group to share. We dont eat out often, but would consider again for a night out.

I had my dinner here last night and the part I realized is that I should not be an Indian to get the attention of people who take order and greet you friendly. The lady was taking extra care for four other parties who came in after me and explaining them about their menu other things. What made me sad was that she didnt even bother to enquire how the food was. This is my last visit to this place and advice Indians to stay off from going to this place.

We went for the buffet around 11:30am. All the food was out and hot! We had, among other things, rice, naan, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, kormas, daal, potatoes and veggies, and more! The mint chutney was amazing, and Im really particular about that. They also had soup but it was too hot for me to try, but the people I went with liked it! Kind staff, well worth the price ($12) for lunch.

Spectacular food. Had the privilege of meeting the owners myself and they are wonderful people. I ordered the dinner special and got a wide variety of tasty dishes. Usually when you go to Indian restaurants the food tends to not be spicy enough. The shrimp curry I received was just the amount of kick I needed and more. If you want to do this food justice make sure to order it extra spicy.

Authentic food and great service, we were visiting from Chicago and ate at bayleaf the second week after opening. We love Indian food and we wanted to give it a shot. Our order was tandoor chiken and Chiken Tikka Masala. We visited at about 6 pm the place was packed and our food arrived at time. It was delicious; A+ to the food. We will be visiting again soon and will visit Bayleaf.

Very nice staff and owner.. But the food i would say its not same all the time.. the food sometime is worst and sometime is good. But they need to learn about spice level. they had best naan so far. When you dine in they charge $2 for 3 pc. papad. Seriouly who would charge for papad?? I think they should serve papad for free many as any one can eat beacuse the food is very pricey.

Amazing customer service. I am vegan and had trouble deciding on a dish and the waitress as well as the owner were very comitted to making sure my meal was perfect. We also ordered garlic naan, however they were out of fresh garlic and they refused to use "fake garlic" on their food. They clearly care imendously for their customers and the quality of their food.

Always fabulous. Good spice heat and they always aim to please your heat level. Clean delicious flavor that is not weighed down with ghee. The menu is huge and they are always working on something new, be it bread, main course or drinks. Wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly. This place is always a treat.

Great veg & non-veg options with a variety of spice levels. If youre not sure what you like, go by for their lunch buffet for a great rotating selection. Best Indian food in town hands down.

Best Indian in Lawrence but it could be better. Clean interior and nice staff. Dine in and expect slow service. Order take out but beware the naan will be chewy by the time you get home

Very good food, but not as spicy as other Indian food I have had. Also, there were no chutneys to eat with the Poori and Naan. Very friendly staff and great environment.
