Billa day
I was in this Restaurant yesterday on 10/18/2012 for a lunch ordered Rogan Josh there were two more people who came after us got there meal before us. I understand if you order off the menu as it takes some time to cook when my food arrived it looked like goat curry in yellow color vs Rogan Josh which should be tomato base and dark brown in color as slow process of cooking. it was my 59 years birthday. After the food arrive server took off and no one in the restaurant came to check on us.my self and my wife ate half way our lunch as we were leaving the place she went to use the restroom as it was her treat to me for my birthday. I went to pay my bill the the counter no one came to front to close the bill as i saw some one in the back look like a chef I knocked at the counter to get his attention as he was sliding my credit card I made a comment the dish i ordered Rogan Josh was not the dish I got he replied thats the way I cook it if you did not like it then get out i asked him in that case give my money back and i will leave give my card back ant the recpt i signed it at that time he came out of the counter started pushing Assaulting me to pushing me in the chest area to the door there were three more customers from saudi arabia who came in to break up the fuss my cell phone was still on the table as I was trying to call 911 for police to come he pulled my arm out away from the phone to avoid the call by this time my wife came out of the restroom saw me strugling to get the phone to call the police.after this I went outside the restaurant sat at the patio waiting for the police to come that time another older man came out side to say sorry about the incident that time i told the man if the person who Assaulted me need to come out i will let it go few minutes later the same chef came out side and told me he is not going to say sorry threw me on the chair causing me to loose my balance in front of my wife and the older person at that time i moved to the next door restaurant waiting for the police to arrive. I was given a police report to contact downtown to file charges and told not to come again. Not only getting hit by chef my credit card got stolen by him and charged a higher amount. if you are going to this location never talk to this chef unless you want to get Assaulted by him I will report this action to the media and police later that evening my knee and wrist started sweling causing pain all night I may seek doctors advise today. P.S DO NOT GO TO TO THIS LOCATION UNLESS YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH TO FIGHT BACK. FOR YOUR SAFE RETURN. i WILL REPORT THIS TO national restaurant association any questions feel free to contact me What a gift I got on my Birthday

This is now "Taste of India". The previous management seems at least good. We went to this restaurant on our recent visit to San Antonio. The food was ok but the service was not good. We had our 15 month child with us and we asked for the high chair and the owner told us to go and get the high chair from that corner. Are you crazy? I am a supporter or local and small businesses and this pissed me off. I am not trying to eat for free or asking for free food. This is suppose to be a hospitality industry. Then came the white guy (not trying to be racist but a fact) and he was greeted like he was a king. We ate the food and left the tips (we should not have left the tips but that was done to give a slap on their face of their service). Food is average. Any one trying to taste Indian food and want to be respected for eating their food may want to try out some other place.

My family and I have eaten here many times. We usually choose to come during the lunch "buffet". Diners choose three main dishes and are served these with rice, naan, and a choice of either raita or Khir (sweet rice pudding). To date I think we have tried almost every option of dish. The flavors are fantastic, and mixing spicy with mellow is a great way to go. One reviewer menioned receiving the food cold and questioned the consistency of quality. It is unfortunate that they experienced that here and if I were to guess, I would think they came on the one bad day. In regards to dinner... The menu is more extensive, including pickles, different deserts, appetizers, various naans, and childrens portions. Once again, the flavors are fantastic!!! Finally I would like to say that the service is great! They are so friendly and helpful.

Lunch today was my first time here. I ordered to go for one of my employee and myself. The meal was fairly inexpensive. This was the first time my employee ever tried Indian food. He loved it. I thought it was good as well.... I use to travel on my younger days and have had Indian food from other countries. This was comparable at a decent price. The interior dining isnt very welcoming as it is probably intimidating to some people with the white table cloth.... But would have to say if your here for dinner they have to sitting area which are comfortable and breezy. It almost has the ambience of my travel in the middle East once again. So this is my second visit for the day and must say it was good as well. I think it would do well if they have a more outgoing cashier/waitress.

...."Taste of Malabar great tasting food comes with the courteous service. Every now and then we like having some curry and the special Indian dishes - Taste of Malabar is becoming our first choice. This place is great and very clean. We have tried other places in town but not as good. We love the malabar fish fry (we like it as appetizer though).Biryani here is the best. They offer Appam and malabar fish masala (yellow) curry combo which is outstanding. Masala Dosa and samoosa here are the best we found in town better than the one we were used to LA. My kids enjoy the mango + yogurt (lasi) drink here!!!. More importantly theyve got my favorite Indian beer :-). I will be back soon. regards, randy & stella" Thank you for the kind words Randy!

No kidding about the lady owner not very friendly or welcoming and I havent ordered yet. Going to suck it up and hope for the best. Samosas was light and really good 2 thumbs up green chutney was spicy salty and tamarind sweet perfect balance. I ended up ordering 10 samosas to go. The chef special for vegetables and none vegetables was really good. The palaka paneer was a little salty the goat and gravy dish was awesome. The chicken tiki masala gravy was good but the chicken should have been grilled before adding to the gravy. I think all Indian restaurant takes the easy approach and not go all out too stand out. My wife makes better tiki masala since I take the time to grill the meat over charcoal.
