Stands up to what I have come to expect from JAK. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the drinks were outstanding. The atmosphere is nice, I like the blue and white and that they didnt over-do it by adding in the natural wood. We had a short wait and got to our table. They serve a small sample of the smoked salmon dip in lieu of the pimento cheese dip at JAK. After reviewing the menus we started with the Rum Around. Excellent drink, like a Run Runner with apricot brandy. I didnt think it would make much difference but the apricot brandy makes this drink shine! We also got with the chicharrones and crab cake. The chicharrones went very well with the red bull sauce and had good texture and flavour. The crab cake was a respectable size, with 6oz (according to the waitress) of lump crab, served with slaw and tarter sauce. It was one of the best crab cakes Ive had. Next up I got a Mai Tai (off menu) and she got the Coconut Mojito. The Mai Tai was excellent, nice almond flavor to it, and definitely not a fake / sweet / fruity drink youd receive at a lot of other places. She said the coconut mojito tied with her favorite coconut mojito and was exactly what she wanted. For the main course we got the Fish and Chips, the Fried Shrimp and Fish, and the Bacon Mac. The fried fish was good and cooked very well. There were only 3 shrimp on the dish but they were very good. I got a side of cocktail sauce (normally comes with tarter) and it had an excellent flavor, not spiced up ketchup. The fries were the only disappointing part of the whole night. They werent bad, but they werent great. They were soggy on both of our plates and that really did them in. The bacon mac was really good. After all that food we skipped on dessert. I will definitely be coming back and making my way around the menu.

My girl and I came here because our orignal place had a long wait and no available parking. We havent been here before and decided to give this place a try. We sat outside as the wait for inside was upwards of an hr+, the patio was immediate. The patio was not impressive. Basically a cinder block room w no natural air flow. Literally all four walls, w a door at the end. The drinks were very unique, I had were the spicy margarita (512), and Pimms #1. They were ok. They both seemed to be acquired tastes, no wide appeal. Im not a huge fish guy but there are always a cpl options to accommodate. I grabbed the burger and my date had grilled scallops. The burger was good but very nondescript. I could get a burger like it anywhere. My date wasnt impressed w the scallops. Our service seemed to be rushed and like he wanted us to leave. We noticed other parties by the same server had more conversation, soft sells for dessert; we were asked if we wanted to check. Flat out. Even as we first arrived we were treated as an easy buck. There was no explanation of specials (if there were any), if weve been here before, personal tastes on food...I get better service at lower tier restaurants. Overall, if you come here, be in it for seafood. Thats over 90% of the menu. Anything else is a waste. Also, wait to sit inside. The patio has potential but I do not recommend it at all. I hope others get better service and have a better experience. You cant win em all and this place definitely did not win me. I wont be back.

Came here for my anniversary with my husband. For appetizers we ordered half a dozen oysters and the crab cake. My husband loved his oysters. The crab cake was also very good, being mostly large chunks of crab and little filler. For our entrees I got the seared scallops and my husband the steak. My scallops were cooked to perfection, seasoned and seared perfectly and melt in your mouth good. The asparagus was also delicious but I would have loved more cauliflower puree. I expected the cauliflower to be more of a side than a garnish. My husbands steak, while delicious and a good sized portion, was slightly disappointing because it came with no sides at all and was the most expensive menu item. It was slightly fatty but not the grossly chewy fat and very slightly underdone from medium rare. For a predominantly seafood restaurant the steak was decent but 100% needs to include a side for the price. We ordered desserts as well. I got the coconut mousse and my husband the key lime tart. Both desserts were gorgeously plated. The mousse was delicious, though I would consider it more of a coconut cheesecake. It was far heavier than a mousse. My husband really enjoyed his as well, though I did not try it. Overall, I would probably give 4.5 stars if I could. Portion sizes are on the small side but well worth the price. Everything was delicious, cooked and seasoned well. I would probably suggest not ordering a steak from a seafood restaurant though, especially with the lack of sides.

To start things off, I had a reservation for a party of 25. We were assigned 2-3 waiters. The customer service is exceptional and management is great. The star Im leaving off is food/price related. The table that had to be separated from the main table had all guests complaining about something (although Im not sure what). The main table where I was sitting had mixed reviews. Everyone loved the raw oysters. Presented classically and very fresh. The cocktails are slightly overpriced. 4 hush puppies are $5. The crab cake and accompanying "salad" were amazing but at $16 a piece overpriced. $12 or so and I would go back once a week for it. The house salad is fantastic. I had the blackened redfish enchiladas with the street corn salad. My meal was good, but not amazing. The cheese overpowered the fish, but the street corn salad was pretty good. We were given a sample of their in-house kettle chips and smoked fish dip upon arrival. For being smoked fish, it was extremely bland. Very little smoke on the pallete and it needed salt. I would say definitely try it out. Its a great atmosphere with friendly staff.

Ive been here twice now. The service is GREAT! The design/decor in the dining room is BEAUTIFUL! Here is my honest review of the following menu items that I have tried so far. Grilled Fish Tacos - These were just OK, they seemed like they were missing something. The salad on the side was just bad. No flavor, no color and all iceberg lettuce which I dislike very much in a salad. The dressing tastes like water. (several people at our table barely touched these salads after tasting them) - Id rather see a slaw of some sort I can put on my tacos! Complimentary seafood salad - THA BOMB New Orleans BBQ Shrimp & Dipping Bread - THA BOMB ( I might order this as my meal next time...holy jesus its good) The roasted corn (side) - THA BOMB Blackened Fish Enchiladas - THA BOMB (except for the watery limp salad as mentioned above) Guacemole & Chips - Lots of good flavors combinations overpowered by too many onions & not enough salt...BUT Im not a fan of raw onions so....overall just OK for me. Overall I cannot wait to go back and try something else....the fish sandwich is next!
