This is one of the most overhyped restaurants in Bloomington (probably thanks to all the drunk college students). For those of us who choose to go there sober, the hype only hurts the restaurant. I ordered teriyaki chicken from a cashier/cook who could not speak English or make eye contact with me. I would say I was lucky to get what I ordered (as many of the other people who had ordered ahead of me did not), however this was hands down the worst teriyaki chicken I have ever had. If this was chicken, it was definitely the lowest grade available. IMO if you are going to only serve one type of chicken (I asked about other sauces), you should be pretty good at it. $7 for the small portion of chicken with fried rice. On the bright side we were serenaded haha. After the line died down the cashier sat down next to a small radio/cd player and belted out some emotional sounding song in Chinese. It took the situation from bad to sad. It was as if he was just a lonely boy here in America selling terrible teriyaki chicken in order to make money for his family. (For all I know he was an international student but with his grasp of the English language Im not sure how that would be possible.) Anyways... enough ranting. As all the drunk college bandwagoners say, "ZNC is fire!" Yes thats right. "ZNC"...

My coworker and I decided to try this place for lunch the other day, and it was extremely crowded. The place is tiny, so people were crammed in. Its also counter service, which is fine, although the prices are comparable to Sushi Bar, which is a sit-down restaurant. I guess I expected it to be cheaper. I only ordered the Crazy Roll and it seemed to take forever. When I did finally get it, the deep-fried outside was no longer crunchy, but the rest of the roll was delicious. Ill definitely try it again at a less busy time to see if its better. On the upside, the guy at the register was extremely friendly and helpful as well as apologetic for the wait.

This place seemed pretty good when I first started going over the summer. Lately it seems to be going downhill. I think today was the last time Ill visit. The service was way too slow. Only two people were working during lunch, one on teriyaki and one doing both sushi and working the register. My sushi is sloppy and not very good at all. I had to remind him to put eel sauce on the eel roll. Each piece is falling apart, and the ginger seems old and dried out. They didnt even give me chopsticks and a bag when I asked for take out.

I work on Kirkwood, so Ive eaten Z &C s probably 20 times in the last year. Im going to stop going there though, because though I order the same thing every time, what I get is drastically different. Sometimes I get a bunch of chicken; a satisfying meal. Sometimes I get a pathetic smattering of chicken, less than half the normal amount. Sometimes the food is fresh and hot, and sometimes they scoop me out old chicken that has been sitting next to the grill and degraded to cold, hard, grisly nastiness.

While ordering my food today I noticed a roach crawling in the plastic utensil holder. I notified the cashier lady but she simply shrugged her shoulders and acted as if she didnt know what I was talking about. After today I will never eat at Z&C EVER AGAIN. For those of you who still eat there please aware that they do indeed have an insect issue.

While I cant say this is the best sushi I have ever tasted it is definitely on par for the price. The atmosphere at Z & C might be a little sparse but they put out a good product for a sensible price. I have eaten here several times while I have lived and Bloomington and will continue to frequent Z&C when looking for good, affordable sushi.

For the price this place is a steal. Every time I get sushi there with my friends, it is always top quality and the price is a steal. The chicken teriyaki is what gets the crowd going. Their special teriyaki sauce is so good and bursting with flavors that it makes people go HAM. Overall, the price and food quality cant be beat.

This little restaurant is perfect for grabbing a bite to eat. It is tiny, but the food is not. The teriyaki chicken is always excellent. I really like the seaweed salad too. The service is quick, the place is clean, and the food is delicious. I have been there about eight times since it opened, and I highly recommend it.

Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a clean atmosphere and terrific sushi at a very affordable price. They have everything to offer and I couldnt be happier with the service.

I thought this place was great until I bit into a chunk of glass that was in my chicken. They offered me another meal as if I wanted to eat more of their food after that.
