This is the best Indian in the southwest metro. They have gone through a variety of evolutions in their format (from cafeteria counter style to more formal seating to a compromise between). A casual family friendly layout now. The food is really great. We have had nothing but good experience here, and we have been coming since they first opened. Much of our engineering team from India frequent here when they are visiting when they get a craving for home country food! The chicken tikka masala, Andrus Curry, Vindaloo, chicken 65, and matar paneer are some of our favorites here. They have very good birayani as well (many of my Indian colleagues praise the goat, and it IS good). They have a very nice lunch buffet with a good balance of veg and non-veg. The naan is always good in our experience. We dont eat Indian anywhere else in the SW Cities. They have been open and maintained a solid business for a long time now. In this area that speaks volumes to the quality of an Indian food joint!!

I am not sure what the reviewers below are talking about. I have now eaten at the restaurant for lunch (Buffet) three times in that last four weeks and been very happy with the food provided. It is not the americanized food found at most of the main Indian Restaurants in the surrounding area. I like the fact that they have not totally neutered the heat factor in their dishes. There are usually a few items on the Buffet that actually have some kick to them. They also have a variety of vegetarian dishes that are very good. Last week they had a dish that used beets. It gave me a new respect for the vegetable. I thought that you could only serve it warm with butter or pickled. The version served in the Buffet was new and very tasty. The decore of the resturant is sparten, but that is not why I am going there. It is because of the well priced, excellent food. I suggest that if you like Indian Food, you try the resturant. Dont let the reviews below with a single star be your guide.

We had ordered food from this place for New Years Eve and it just made the whole occasion special. We stay in White Bear Lake and the Indian restaurants in the area sell junk in the name of Indian food. We had heard a lot about this place and so placed an order and it was worth the drive to pick up the food. Other Indian restaurants sprinkle chilli powder on Veg Biryani to make it spicy but India Spice House Veg Biryani and Chicken Biryani makes you feel like you are eating authentic Indian food and if you are from Hyderabad you crave for the Hyderabadi Biryani and know the difference between a real biryani and a tomato rice with chicken given the name of Chicken Biryani which other restaurants provide. Excellent food.......

When it opened, the restaurant quickly became our favorite but not for much. Within weeks the service disappeared and the selection of dishes and their quality has diminished tremendously. The last two times we visited put us over the edge - well never visit again and highly recommend you try something else. The chicken dishes are pretty much indistinguishable. The mutton, if you can call it that, is absolutely terrible - bones and fat with no flavor. If you are thirsty, be ready to get your own water from the water cooler. This joint is on its way out. Please, note that I have tried just about every Indian restaurant in the area so my opinion is based on experience. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

Flavor is hard to find in Minnesota, but this place has so much variety. Essentially a grocery store for spices, ghee, and staples of India - this is a prime spot to find otherwise impossible to obtain ingredients in the Twin Cities metro. Decor is basic - there is none. Its really a grocery store & whatever setup they have serves this purpose. Service - I didnt give excellent because I dont think the cashier understood what I was asking him, and sold me a bag of "Salty Swad Confectionaries" which I led myself to believe was candy. IT IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT CANDY, but it does get a fantastic reaction from the office when I mix it in the candy bowl.

My wife is from Hyderabad, and she moved to MN a month a go... She had a craving for Goat Biryani.. I took her to this place for a take away.. We got the Goat Biryani, and she was very disappointed by the taste.. It was very spicy and too much of masala and it looked like a masala rice instead of goat biryani.. I was sorry for not keeping up for her craving.. The dish was filled with more goat pieces and less rice. Too much of garam masala and it ruined the taste.... We specifically told the guy who took our order, please add less masala and he agreed to it.. But what we got was too spicy and dint taste like Biryani.. :(

1st Order - Papdi Chat - Not Good , missing basic chaat taste 2nd Order - Idli Sambhar - Coconut chutney good, other chutney whatever it was toooo sweet. Sambhar less than average , Idli was dry may be not fresh 3rd Order - Mysore Masala Dosa - I have never ever had such dry dosa in my life... not just dosa even potato filling was too dry 4th Order Veg Machurian, sauce was good , manchurian was hard 2 stars for quick polite service May be their biryani and regular Daal, Roti, Sabzi etc are good , didnt try and unfortunately (for them) , I am not going back to try those.

This is a review of the indian grocery store, not the restaurant. For my purposes as someone who wants to cook authentic indian food at home, this grocery store is a godsend. They have a full range of indian spices, fresh curry leaves, unsweetend shredded coconut, dals, and indian produce. I did not shop for meat so I cant say for sure that they carry it. Prices were reasonable, and the produce is fresh on mondays and thursdays. Only hitch for a non indian: the produce is unlabelled, so you might have to ask for help identifying things.

09/03/2016 8:00 PM WORST FOOD served when I went for dinner and ordered for Non-Veg Thali. They served Dhal curry which was STALE and smelling. Manager doesnt have minimum Courtesy to say Sorry or Apologies. Besides that he says " Sir It is good to eat and you ( Customer) havent liked the taste of Dhal " . This is completely unacceptable response from Indian Spice management. They didnt even ask for the alternate options or replacement of that food. Be careful with this restaurant when you go Next time.

Was Visiting MN and searching for a good Indian restaurant to eat at, googled and found this place. Pleasantly surprised how flavorful the food was. Would recommend this place if you are looking for some great Indian authentic food. Had the lunch buffet on a weekday, the items in buffet werent many but whatever was served, tasted amazing. Kudos to the cook from Madras. I am not sure if things have improved here lately. Looking at old reviews gives a total different impression though. Give it a try and see.

They always act so rush. Skip sauces and chutneys in your takeouts. No hygiene, arrogant staff. The biriyani was never a fresh cooked. They are cheating Americans with low quality food. The grocery store runs with arrogant employees too. There are no ethics or interpersonal skills to this staff. See the pics of spoiled biriyani they sold to me. Last but not least, they dont even give napkins and spoons in your takeout bag. Despite of all these faults they charge 20-30% higher price than other restaurants.
