Very disappointed with this visit. Have been several times to the one in Monkey Junction due to the proximity to our house in the past and enjoyed it. This time we did not enjoy it. For starters they changed the menu and have raised the prices higher than I would have expected. The value was not what I expected it compared to last time. Secondly you couldnt order items ala carte, i.e. soft taco, tostada, etc. My wife attempted to order two items and ended up having to get the 2 item combo that was around $8.00. I ordered the 3 soft tacos that came with a meat filling, I chose al pastor, onions and cilantro. The pork was very dry, tough and very little flavor even though it was supposed to be marinated. Then also the refried beans had no flavor whatsoever in them. Overall this was a very poor dining experience and I very seriously doubt I will be back. Id rather drive across town to another Mexican restaurant than drive to this one that is less than 5 minutes from my house. Save your money and go elsewhere, this place has changed and not in a good way.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant(s) in town, and I go probably twice a month. Love the food, but I do have to agree with other reviewers that the service could use a little fine-tuning. On that note, and since I happen to be on the page of the Monkey Junction location, Ill say that it (The Monkey Junction one) is probably the worst service-wise; theyre almost always tremendously slow, and with a few exceptions pretty rude (During my birthday visit, they literally visited the table once; I had to get up and find them all other times). Ive never had a problem at the Mayfaire location though, so I guess Id recommend that one. All-in-all, the foods tasty, the atmospheres dandy, and with good friends youll have a blast! WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THE UNIVERSITY LOCATION ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO HEAR A BUNCH OF GOOD OL BOYS/GALS SING TERRIBLE COUNTRY SONGS AT KARAOKE

Weve been patronizing ECG Wilmington for a long time, over twenty years. Go there almost every week, and never disappointed! The taste is great every time, and the service is friendly and cordial they treat you like an honored guest. The moment you sit you are promptly greeted with some delicious chips and tasty salsa (some like it caliente!) (try their salsa picante!) Then the order is timely taken and before you know it, your entre is right in front of you, HOT! The food is MOUTHWATERING and beverages are excellent variety and reasonably priced along with everything else they serve. Youll go home feeling that youve really been in a five star restaurant. Nice selection of Latino/Mexican music too. I take the time to give good reviews to places like El Cerro Grande cuz they take the time to make each and every occasion a special one 1

Do you have stars in the negative? This used to be my favorite restaurant I have been a customer for over 24 years first at 17th Street then at the Jacksonville location but the Mayfaire location the wait staff are not even smart enough to take an order correctly or credit back when they mess up but and this time is the last straw. First order ala carte chili relenos and got one chili relenos but then they charged me 4.00 for salsa in a to go order .. left it off the order then called and wanted me to drive back 20 miles to get it and would not credit it back when I said no I am not coming back. I thought salsa was included.. anyway I hate to do it but I am not going to be spending my hard to come by money here anymore for such bad service

I have eaten at this location , perhaps 25 times . we eat out all over Wilmington and I like this restaurant the best overall , for a casual meal ,at great prices, they have a nice looking restaurant , has a upscale Mexican theme . The service is good and the food is good, many comfort choices , they have Awesome Margaritas and its easy to leave in a good mood. There Queso dip is not to be missed , when you are in a chip mood. Other restaurants worth visiting , Caprice Bistro is good for Romance and good food, try upstairs , and Circa is nice for a slightly fancy dinner with a New York vibe. Also for Lunch try Holiday Inn dinning room , overlooks the ocean and the food is tasty, American casual menu

I work near the el cerro grande in monkey junction. I would go in there at least 2 times a week because the food is good. But the service sucks. They ignore you, they dont refill your drinks, they dont bring your check. It got so bad that I tried to contact a manager but I never heard back from them either. My advice, either go somewhere else where the service is pleasant or order out. I have even started telling the people at work if you are trying to eat and get out on your lunch break then dont go here. It really is too bad. Oh well there are alot of other restaurants in the area for lunch. I just go to the other el cerros across town at night.

First time customer. Arrived about 6:45 on a Tuesday and sat at the bar. Decor was nice and everything looked top notch and the dining appeared VERY clean. Lots of TVs positioned around the walls, but not obtrusive and I think the sound was off on all of them. Light mexican background music playing. Food and service was pretty good. Ive been to a lot of Mexican Restaurants being a native of CA and would rate this one slightly slightly above average on flavor. Great place to go with family or after work dinner/beers. $15 out the door including a beer, good sized plate of food, chips/salsa and tip. Did I mention it was very clean?

My family and I have been coming here for at least 15 years! The servers create such a fun and inviting environment that keep us coming back time after time! The food is absolutely amazing (make sure to get some queso!!) and you cant stop at just one margarita!! Junior is one of the original servers and absolutely one of the best! He is full of fun stories from his Hammerhead soccer career! But really, you cant go wrong with any of the fantastic severs! I cant rant enough about how amazing this restaurant is!

My husband and I have been eating at all of the El Cerro locations for almost 20 years. We have lived in Monkey Junction for 15 years and have consistently eaten at this location at least twice a month. With two little ones at home, we even get to-go on nights we dont feel like cooking. Junior, Charlie, Jose, and Vincente are like family to us and all of the staff greet us kindly and treat us great. It is the best Mexican food in town by far and the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.

I ate there a few days ago. The food was ok but the waiter took my debit card for pmt of my bill and kept it. He brought the charge receipt for mr to sign but kept the card. I did not realize till today when I needed it that it was missing. I called the restaurant and the manager somehow found it. Its partly my fault because i didnt notice but Im very upset that the server failed to return it with my charge receipt. I wont be eating there again.
