MASAMI A Japanese restaurant Ill start with what it is not. It is not a fancy restaurant with an elegant waiters and super amazing design decoration it is a small and simple restaurant that everyone can feel compatible to sit in. The moment you enter inside the restaurant and sit the first thing you get is a hot whet and smelling towel to clean your hands and while you are doing this you feel like you entered to an authentic Japanese restaurant with a small tables and simple interior design. Inside the bar there is two Japanese sheaf (שף) with traditional clothing and smiling faces. The food on the menu is very diverse but I never used the menu because each time we have been there we ordered what sushi roll that you like (build it by oneself) or listen to recommendation of the place. Ill tell about one meal I think it will summarize all. After we clean our The reason that I decided to write about that place even thaw Im not a restaurant criticism(מבקר) is because I felt that bee in there is such special experience that I feel like I want to share it with more people from two reasons: 1. I feel like I want more people experience that feeling of authentic food and amazing Japanese experience. 2. I think that costumers should appreciate profershionality and deviated like I saw there.

Awesome place. The exterior makes you question the place at first. Its on the side of a strip mall and doesnt do much to catch your eye. Looks like a shady Chinese buffet that local strays mysteriously disappear at. But the moment you walk in all those fears disappear. Had the aki tempura and gyoza for appetizers. The tempura was good, although the batter didnt stick too well to the squid (still worth ordering), but the gyoza was perfect. I ordered two rolls omakase, and my wife got another roll, a soup, and seaweed salad. All of her food was excellent. The two rolls I had the chef pick were great, one was the "house special #1" which was unbelievably good. Then we got the donuts and tempura fried cheesecake for dessert. The donuts were amazing, and the strawberry sauce that came with it brought them to a whole other level. The cheesecake, however, was one of the best desserts Ive ever had. Even my wife (who isnt too fond of cheesecake) loved it. The textures were crispy and chewy from the tempura, while the interior cake was slightly melted, velvety, and smooth. It was almost life changing. Surprisingly cheap overall, and all the servers and chefs at the bar are very friendly. Its now my favorite sushi joint.

We love this place. They have great sushi and a wonderful cozy, "mom and pop" vibe. Highlights: - Everything we have had here was great - The cuts of fish on the sushi nigiri are appropriately generous. - Sitting at the bar is fun because they really embrace the art and presentation of food, so its fun to watch them work - The Heart Attack roll is a fun, spicy treat - If you are a fan of grilled squid, they actually have a whole grilled squid on the menu! - They can get busy at meal rushes, so show early and if you are in a rush the sushi bar is a safer bet for getting in and out quickly (as with any sushi place) Note: If you are a fan of tatami tables, they have one and I think you might need a certain size group or reservation to use it. So, give them a call if that is your thing.

My favorite place used to be Sushi Sake until I tried this place. Over the years Sushi Sakes quality and variety has diminished. Masami picks up where Sushi Sake left off. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu. I highly recommend the grilled squid appetizer. It the whole squid with teriyaki sauce and slice into strips so you get the triangle top all the way down to the legs. Really good. All the raw fish is fresh and precisely cut in the appropriate Japanese style. I never get gristly or smelly pieces. Always fresh and perfectly cut. The sashimi is of the highest grade and well worth every penny. The lunch boxes are reasonably priced and always have enough food to fill you comfortably. All in all this is my first choice for sushi in the DFW area.

One of our favorite places to eat. Best authentic Japanese restaurant in Dallas! Almost everyone who works there is Japanese!! Even the menu items on the walls are in Japanese. My husband and I eat here every friday for lunch. We get the "special lunch bento box" cause its only $6.95 and its definitely a "bang for your buck"! Best experience is during dinner when you sit at the sushi bar. The sushi chef has great stories & conversations! Sushi is excellent: quality of the fish is very fresh and the sushi rice is soft where it will melt in your mouth. Masami is our favorite mainly because its not a "trendy" restaurant, but more like a small intimate "hole in wall" kind of place.

If you know and love sushi, real sushi, not just rolls than this is your place. The chef Ryo has been doing this for over 30 years and knows the ART of sushi. It has taken 4 long years but he is finally getting the respect he deserves and if you have not gone to try this place yet, you need to. This is an amazing and traditional Japanese restaurant. The fish is not only the best in town but the rice and nori are perfect! Monday nights are Happy Hour Nights, all night long. Half Price Beer, Wine (bottle or glass) and Hot Sake. I hope to run into you there.

This is the real deal. Small, independently owned and very reasonably priced. Ive paid twice this for sushi that was not as good. The ambiance is relaxing even when they are busy. The staff are just great. The food is incredible. You want hot food, they got a great chef for cooked foods. The Sushi Chefs are legit and friendly. Speaking of friendly, Ive been taking my daughter there since she was an infant. She is 2 now and they are very kid friendly. Great selection of beer and liquor. This is a staple in Richardson.

Was there two days in a row last week. First day I had the bento with some sushi rolls, salmon and chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura. The tempura was good but the rest were kind of tasteless and the chicken was too dry. On my second time I tried the Shrimp tempura Soba. Which was kind of eating the tempura from the bento with a big bowl of soba. The soba soup was a bit on the salty side though and the shrimp werent chewy. I think I wouldnt go there again.

Such an amazing dining experience with some of the best quality, fresh fish Ive had in Dallas. This place is truly a hidden gem. I love that they have wonderful seasonal specialties that you wont find any where else. Im not much of a fried dough person BUT, their donuts and dipping sauce is absolutely addictive. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this sushi place for those who are serious about great fish but dont want a pretentious atmosphere.

This is such a gem! The ambiance was great. The servers were really friendly and helpful. We had the ika tempora, dynamite, tear, volcano, rainbow, Darvish...plus some saki. For all of those it was relatively cheap for sushi...now for the flavor!!!! The Darvish was hands down my favorite, so delicious. The tear roll literally made me cry, if you love spicy this is for you. The rolls were very fresh. I would definitely come back.
