While the food was relatively good and truly authentic, they were definitely not worth the price during dinner time. The bowl of $12.50 udon was just like any other udon, normally $8-12 but typically you pay that extra amount for udon with some kind of protein. The udon was without protein. The tonkatsu dinner was $22 which you can normally get for $8-12 anywhere else. The pork was exceptionally delicious, thick cut yet still very moist and juicy, but the serving size was just not $10 extra. It also had a side of potato salad which was a nice side change of palette for the meal. The "dinner" just made it come with miso soup and a salad. The salad was small and the dressing was average. The soup however was really good relatively to other places in terms of flavour. However I wish it had tofu bits in it like the other places. I do have to say that the sukiyaki was very delicious. The meat was generous and the vegetables were fresh and the sweetness was not too overpowering like Ive had at other places. Its $28 but it can definitely serve two average sized people however its still technically meant for one so you might have to order extra rice, if youre a need-rice kind of person. If Im really feeling sukiyaki again I might come here just for that. The service was pretty good. We werent just left there to eat. Our waitress filled our waters and the owner came out to ask how the food was. We were the only table at the place and nearing closing time though.

Ive eaten there a few times for lunch, not dinner. The food is always very fresh and very good. Ive had sushi, ramen and also most recently the Tonkatsudon. It was DELICIOUS. The pork was cooked to perfection. The portions are more than enough. I couldve eaten half and still been happy but in typical American style, I chose to finish it all. Two hours ago and Im still stuffed. T The shop is small, frequented by Japanese and some other Asian varieties. That should tell you something. It is also very much a mom & pop type shop. There are just a few people working there and during a busy time you may just have to wait but it is worth it. Relax awhile. Someone complained $27 lunches. There is only 1 item on the menu at $27 and rightfully so as there are several nice varieties on that dish. Most lunch menu items are around the $12 range and up. Lunch a crappy fast food place will run you nearly $7 and not even compare to the quality. Support your local mom & pop shops! The wait for me was maybe 15 minutes.... I definitely recommend this restaurant!

I only give it one star because the service was mediocre. Our waiter was nice to us the whole 3 times he visited us, but that is in a span of an hour and half, and half of that time was spent waiting. Its also not as if he was super busy. I had a lot of free time to sit there and count how many times he visited the other tables while he paid no mind to us for some unknown reason. If that wasnt bad enough the food was very over priced for what we got. We got room temperature sushi and all of it had a thick layer of wasabi which we did not ask for. The menu just told you the name of the food but it did not give any further detail as to what you were getting and what would come on it. as much as I liked the look of the restaurant I will never come back unfortunately.

Nice decor and good food experienced in my three visits. However on my last visit, I went there with my wife and was enjoying a nice meal when the manager came over to us and began moving us to another table saying we could not remain where we were and that more important people were coming in to sit at our table. Very rude and then began treating the newly arrived people with great care and dignity, completely ignoring us until we were finished with the meal. Then she just left the check with no apologies whatsoever. I will never go back and consider this restaurant a blight in our neighborhood and an ongoing insult to Japanese restaurants everywhere. Go next door to Bambu for better food (Thai) and friendly service.

The food was alright. Very overpriced- my meal was almost nothing but fat. Unfortunately, the sushi was room temperature, almost warm, and tasted a little off. Everything had wasabi on it and in large doses. Server did not visit our table aside from bringing us our food, refilling drinks once, and after grabbing his attention (from an over half hour wait) to get the bill. He was polite but did not offer assistance unless tracked down and the overall experience had us very left out. Felt very uncomfortable from the start. Was very excited to try the place, now I dont want to spend that much money for another sad experience. :/ Ended up getting sick after eating a bit too. Nothing terrible at least.

There are so many "Fake" Japanese Restaurants in U.S. May be 90% are fake. This place is "Real Japanese" by real Japanese Cheff. It is very sad that many American people who dont understand make restaurant quality in this countries low. Just like American style Mexican or American Style Chinese. How to judge if real or not that I know is ... Real one do not charge for a green tea.

Have been there about 10 times. Yes, they can be expensive or inexpensive, depends what you order. They have lots of dishes that normal Japanese restaurants dont have, Chazuke etc. its so good for a family bistro! I got one concern before, thats once a while my stomach didnt feel good after I ate some dishes.

Noone acted rude, we didnt act rude either. I gave them 20% at the end of it all. When I looked at my credit card statement at the end of the month they marked up the gratuity by 10 dollars... which I dont see why as the food was overpriced anyways...

Excellent real Japanese food. I have never had a less than excellent meal there. The service is lovely and the special treats like my husbands 60th year old dinner, or my birthday rice, are always a delicious joy.

Excellent Restaurant, The manager, the waitresses and the people who help clean the place are very polite. One of the best restaurants to eat in Richardson. Food is great. Very family oriented.

Little pricey but Tonkatsu and Ramen are pretty authentic. Dinner is expensive. Sashimi I tried a couple of times are really bad quality. Staff are very nice though.

A solid 5 stars. You get Japanese quality service, and Japanese quality food. I never expected to find something so good in Texas
