First time here. We got take out and really enjoyed it. We ordered the sushi for 2 which was really excellent, so fresh and beautifully presented. The rolls were great, I think they were California rolls and super fresh. My husband also tried the Mongolian sliced beef which was quite good the only problem being that there was not enough rice even though I paid for extra rice (Exactly $1.61 if you can believe it:) but I did think charging me for the extra rice was a bit tacky after I had tipped her, paid then ordered the extra rice as an afterthought). The service was very pleasant though, not great English so I can see where that could be a problem when ordering if you are looking for anything kind of particular. If you are not that familiar with Japanese cuisine (like us) it is worth a miss or two to try different things to become familiar with what fits your palette. Its worth it. Just overall superb quality. We have been getting sushi at a very upscale restaurant in downtown Valparaiso but will no longer do so. The sushi at Fuji is superior by far, so much fresher and it will be our regular take out place. Would love to dine in but they dont serve any alcohol and no longer allow you to bring your own.

The food is very good. The service is horrible. I believe only 3 people work there and they are all related. The young boy is slow, the old woman is extremely rude and the sushi chef is excellent. Never spoken to him though. The price is high for a place like Portage but moderate when compared to Chicago. Value? Tough question, the rude woman and slow/crappy service makes me hate the place but the food is good. The only thing saving this thing from a 1 star rating is that there is nothing within 20 miles of this place that has Sushi that good. IMO if they had decent service, the place would be standing room only every night. Its hard to get people to come back no matter how good the food is when you are so rude. Im a glutton for punishment, I still go once or twice a month simply because I love sushi.

I used to go here every weekend, the food was great. However the service was poor they were always rude , and if a group cam in bigger than me (I went by myself) they would take make there order first. once i waited 45 mins. for my food if other people were there average wait was 20-25 mins. unless I was the only one there. The straw that broke the camels back was when they complained i didnt tip them enough. I have not been back since. I tip very little or not at all for rude service depending on the circumstances. other minor complaints they try to rush you through the ordering process, and there sodas and water taste like there metal in them.

My friend and I had sushi in Chicago for lunch but still had a craving driving home so we stopped here. My brother had mentioned that the prices were low, the place was clean and the food was very fresh so we gave it a try. I am fairly new to different types of sushi and our server (who I believe may also have been the owner) was so exceptionally kind and informative. The food was absolutely incredible. The fish was so fresh and the rolls were just perfect. This was on Saturday and Im so excited to go back again tonight! You absolutely must try this place....like now. Seriously...stop reading this and go order!

Ive been to house of kobe a few times and their service is average at best. My boyfriend and I went to Fuji around one or two on a saturday and we were the only people in the restaurant for a while. Our server was really attentive and the sushi was delicious and well priced. Try the dragon roll and the miso :) Fuji is really small and the bathroom is hidden behind the tapestry so I found that kind of funny. Everything was awesome. The only thing that would make my experience better would be to add alcohol. Aside from that its definitely worth checking out.

Rude service. I went there three times. The first two I thought it was ok. Third time I ordered tuna and something else. The taste was off on the tuna, so I asked the waitress if I could have more of the other because the tuna tasted off. She didnt speak English well, but basically sat there and asked how long Id been eating sushi like I didnt know what it was supposed to taste like. I said over 15 years, and she argued it was fine. I suggested she taste it herself, and she replied that SHE doesnt eat sushi. Havent been back since.

Wonderful. One of our favorite places to eat. The staff is always super nice. They always go above and beyond to make sure we always enjoy our food. The sushi is always super fresh. The prices are always right.... they never over price the sushi rolls like some other places. If you like sushi please put this on your "to do" list. Great people with great food. Support your local businesses if you can!!!

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. Id recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi, or anyone who wants to try it! There are so many rolls to choose from, both cooked and raw, plus sashimi by the piece. The menu has pictures and detailed descriptions of the rolls, which makes it easier to choose something youll be happy with. They also have good appetizer, soup, and dessert options.

If you love sushi, you will love Fuji. The food is excellent. The sushi not only tastes fantasitic, but the artistic presentation adds to the enjoyment of the dining experience. My favorite roll is called Spicy Girl. Everyone who has tried it... loves it. We have a top class restaurant in Portage. I hope people support it so they stay right where they are!! Great Sushi!

Just recently was turned onto sushi, addicted now! This place is fantastic. Service is very friendly. Sushi is amazing. Price seems fair, Ive never been to any other place to compare. Avg roll price $12-18. Plus added bonus, they finally serve alcohol(very limited selection) mostly Japanese beers, few domestics and some wines. If you like sushi, definitely try Fuji!

I have drove past this place for years and never stopped. Then after hearing amazing things from my friends thought I would try it out on a date. The atmosphere is perfect. Its quiet and Suttle. Nothing is over whelming. The portion sizes are to much to bare. You will leave satisfied and happy with left over. Perfect place!!!

Very good sushi, rolls were good. They didnt put a ton of cucumber in the philly roll nice, was mostly tuna. Staff was very friendly, and attentive. The rolls werent real big but not small either they didnt add alot of the cucumber to rolls to make them seem bigger. Very yummy, would very much come back when im up this way again.

Absolutely a rose in a thorn bush! Best food in the area whether its a raw sushi dish or something cooked. Food is always fresh and I always leave here feeling revitalized. Ive tried every raw roll they have to offer and i recommend them all. If your on a date order the fried ice cream. Try the pork dumplings for an appetizer
