I want to start by saying that my family and I have been frequent customers to this wonderful restaurant for 15+ years and we love it. Ambience and the food has always been excellent, matched by none. I hate to leave only a three star review. My last two visits, we were served by an older gentlemen both times. The first of which he scolded my Grandma as if she was a child when she asked for a "to-go box". We realize their, not so uncommon policy, with to-go boxes on all you can eat. It was explained to me if you REORDER something AFTER you finish your meal, you void the chance of getting a to-go box. Well, our second trip we ordered the "all you can eat" again. This time again, NOT having reordered anything. At the end of the meal my dad asked for a napkin for the ONE piece of fish he had left over. The guy then abruptly answered "there are no to-go boxes". My dad was kind of dumb founded by his tone and then mentioned he didnt want to let this fish go to waste. The man then put his hands on the table and spoke to my dad as if he was a child "you can not have a to-go box" and walked off. We then paid for our meal and walked out. The waiter followed us out and asked if we had a problem which I thought was a very odd thing to do on his part. We did not make a scene over something so petty, but the actions and attitude of this waiter made it so much worse than it ever should have been. Like I said I love this place and want to see nothing but success for this establishment. But in the future I will be sure to ask for another waiter if possible.

Had some family down for spring break this past weekend, great nephew had never seen the gulf so we went to the beach. While in Galveston it was suggested that we all go to the Monument Inn for dinner on our way home. I had never heard of the place before but my folks had been once and said it was a good place for seafood. I checked out the website and it looked great and I really like a place that isnt afraid to put their menu pricing on their website, no surprises about what they charge! Saturday night during spring break, the place was packed! We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, not bad considering how busy they were. I wish we could have had a window table but we were hungry and didnt want to wait for one. The food and the service were great! I had the 12 shrimp dinner as it was only $2 more than the 8 shrimp version, ended up taking half of it home and having it for lunch the next day! And they make their own Honey Mustard salad dressing, and it was super good! I feel bad that I dont remember our waitresses name, but she was very good and gave us just the right amount of attention, and she was bright and cheery even though the place was so busy. This place is really good, the only thing not as up to snuff as the food and service there is parking space is limited, and a place to wait for your table is limited. We waited in the bar, but it was standing room only. Will definitely be a repeat customer!

My wife and I enjoy taking journeys without much in the way of plans. We chose this restaurant on a whim for Valentines Day. Just down the street from the San Jacinto monument (hence the name "Monument Inn", its a no-brainer stop after touring the Battleship USS Texas and the monument. Normally this restaurant takes reservations, but apparently on holidays and special occasions (e.g., Valentines Day) they do not -- its first-come, first-served. The restaurant seats approximately 150 people so they are able to move even a huge crowd quickly. (We had a 45 minute wait on Valentines Day. Not bad, really!) The view from the restaurant is very nice. You can overlook the water, the boats, and the nearby ferry (which you will have to use if you approach from I-10). The ferry ride is free but closes at 8pm, so plan accordingly, otherwise you will have to travel the length of the island. The food? Oh yes, the food! Excellent. The servers will make recommendations if you ask, the rolls and cinnamon rolls are outstanding, and even the calimari appetizer we got was some of the best Ive had. You will not go wrong with the food here. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is rather simplistic if not boring. They allow the windows inside the restaurant do the decorating. But youre not going there for the decorations, right? Its the food!

food was very good, but the service was the worst we have had there, we had 4 adults and 2 kids, they got our table set up, but didnt seat us, (2 adults/2 kids were not there yet) we were told that they dont seat partys until all are there, if they had seated us, my wife and i would have order a drink. they finally seated us and the waitress was the worst, it was my birthday, and we told her that, but i had to wait for my coors light, all others got there drinks long before me. she brought me the wrong salad dressing, and then talked at a table for ever and didnt bring my dressing, all others at my table had ate there salads before i got my dressing, and we had to go up and ask someone to get for me. she never asked if we wanted more to drink, when on person asked for more sprite, she said ok, but never brought it. she also never offered a birthday desert. also my fav meal was not on the menu and when i asked if i could sub anything on the fishermans platter i was told no. (i am not a catfish eater) if they would like to reach me, my address is

First let me say, my family is very picky when it comes to giving out 5 stars. But this place deserves it. We found it while spending 2015 summer working in area. Visited numerous times. This year, we are in Beaumont for summer and made a specific trip over to eat the AMAZING!! food. No matter how busy it has ever been the service was outstanding. My kids get so excited for the delicious cinnamon rolls. Appetizers are tasty, love the fried zucchini and gator. Fried shrimp and the seafood pasta dish (cant recall the name, it has crawfish, shrimp and sausage) are mine and my husbands favorite dinners. The view is great, and the ferry ride is fun for the kiddos. We will make at least 1 more trip this summer.....lol Oh and let me also recommend a bloody mary, or long island from the bar. Very good! Thank you to everyone at this establishment, we once had a family restraunt and understand what it takes to make one run this well. See you soon :)

I found this restaurant while looking around Google Maps for places Id never visited. I sort of put it in the back of my mind and thought Id stop sometime when I was close. On a whim, my wife and I, drove about 40 minutes from our home and took a chance it wouldnt be a long wait. We arrived at about 7:00 on a Friday evening and were seated in 15 minutes. Our server, who did an outstanding job, said Saturday evenings can be quite a bit longer wait. The food and atmosphere were awesome. We had the fried zucchini to start, I had the half and half Cajun shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee. My wife, whos not a seafood eater, had the Chicken Fried Steak. Both of these came with a salad and a side plus bread and a cinnamon roll. It was fantastic and just the right amount to leave pleasantly full and not starving or feeling stuffed. Well worth the trip and definitely planning a return.
