I have been eyeing this new taco place for months, so I was excited to try it when it finally opened up in Montrose (October 2016). After doing some research online, I found that this would be the 5th location to open up. Their website states that they proudly feature "the freshest Latin cuisine in a fast, casual setting" and that they are famous for their award-winning tacos. It also said they offer over one hundred different premium 100% agave tequilas and award-winning made-from-scratch margaritas. They seemed to use this "award-winning" phrase a lot; what awards did they win exactly?! I went on a Friday evening with my girlfriend. We saw that they had valet parking, but there was some free available spaces on the other side of the lot. I opted for the free spaces, but wow, these parking spots were designed for VERY small cars. Its a very poorly designed lot, so be careful if you have an SUV. I do have to say though, for tacos, I would have never expected valet parking?! I thought this was supposed to be a "fast, casual setting?" When we got inside, it had a very nice atmosphere (more than I expected for a taco place). I do like that the place is covered in bare wood. They have a very big bar that is easily accessible from both inside and from outside on their outdoor patio. We ordered from the front, paid, and went to their outdoor patio to wait for our food. I ordered their "award-winning" tacos - the Tequila Lime Chicken ($3.90) and the Akaushi Ground Sirloin ($3.90). Their tacos are made with two steamed white corn tortillas, cheese, queso fresco, lettuce, tomato, red onions, cilantro, purple cabbage, and roasted garlic aioli sauce. My order was delivered to me pretty quickly. Although it was a Friday night, the place was not busy, but they still had a lot of servers. This is what irked me right away; usually its great to have servers come to you and ask how everything is and if we needed anything, but in this case, we had been approached 8 times, no exaggeration, during our FIRST taco. Literally, a new server asked if everything was ok after each bite. Cmon man, I appreciate the gesture, but dont overdo it... For the food, the Tequila Lime Chicken was completely flavorless and dull. I felt the same way with the Akaushi Ground Sirloin. I tried to soak it in their hot sauce (or should I say, weak sauce), but it didnt help at all. I felt like I had to take a sip of water after every bite just to help swallow these bland tacos. My girlfriend was not impressed either. We had put this place on a high pedestal, and it completely failed us. Their menu has other "Yucatan favorites," but its in the $12-$20 range. I was expecting something completely different when coming here; I mean their name has "taco stand" in it... Overall, this place was ok. It has a nice atmosphere, with booths inside, full bar with over one hundred tequilas, margaritas, cocktails, and craft beer, an outdoor patio with nice music playing. Their tacos suck, straight up, and are not worth $3.90 each. If youre going to spend this much money for tacos, go to Velvet Taco on Washington; at least they have flavor, actual hot sauce, and creativity in their tacos (not just the same ingredients for every taco mixed with a different meat, meh). Id probably only come back for drinks, but the food for me was a huge fail. If you try anything else on the menu, please message me what to order if I ever decide to come back (which isnt likely). Pros: -Nice atmosphere Cons: -Food sucks -Parking has very narrow lots -Thought this was a fast, casual restaurant, but its a touch more upscale than what you might expect and has valet parking -Pricier than expected

The prices were too high for the amount and quality! My "mashed potatoes" were literally Idahos instant potatoes from the package, and were the consistency of cookie dough . The empanadas were deflated mostly hard pastry dough with little filling. The service was mediocre. The tiny piece of "plantain encrusted" mahi mahi was far from encrusted. It was more like a few fried plantains chips layered on top of a 2inch x 3inch piece of mahi mahi. Most definitely not worth $33 for the 3 empanadas and mahi mahi .

I wanted to like this place. Its in my neighborhood and I thought it would be a good alternative to Torchys. Its not. I got my order to go and when I got into my tacos, they were greasy and the tortillas were soaked wet. The queso was flavorless and tasted like Campbells Cheese Soup. They did seem to have an extensive tequila selection so maybe the bar has good drinks. I did notice there were more people in the bar drinking than dining.

When I went the first weekend, I wasnt impressed at all. But in subsequent visits, its grown on me. The tacos are really tasty, and not too unreasonable at $3.5 each. The service could be faster, although compared to some other hip spots the wait is pretty good. Make no mistake, this place is trying to be hip, sometimes too hard...I dont want a DJ and a valet at a "taco stand". But in summary, Ill be back!

The decor was really interesting. I enjoyed the lights and the wood covering. The salsa was extremely bland, the Latin caterpillar rolls were good if a bit too covered in aoili. We ordered the burrito and fajitas. Both were fine but the service was just awful. On a Sunday afternoon it took an hour for our food with no one in sight to even check on us. They did give my dogs water so I guess theres that.

I use to come here all of the time and it had been great. Especially for "Taco Tuesday". I am sitting at this restaurant as I write this review and am still waiting on my order. I ordered an hour ago. The place is not that busy and the staff does not seem to have a clue whats going on. Not sure if this place is under new management or what, but I will be looking for a new taco place.

Excellent lunch in every way. There were some people at noon but plenty of available seating. The staff walked me through the menu and the process and brought the food out pretty quickly. Two tacos and rice and beans was enough - the tacos were each big, lots of protein and toppings piled high. Definitely recommend it.

This was the first time coming here. Awesome spot for Sunday Funday! The patio was so much fun. DJ Tina had great mix of songs. We were grooving with $2 mimosas and amazing mojitos. The grilled fish was really good. The chilaquiles was THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. 10/10 would Sunday Funday again

The QUESO is amazing. Their burrito bowls are heaven sent. And if you dont get the yuca fries, you have officially ordered incorrectly. The place has a fun relaxed atmosphere, and the have fabulous margs. Try at your own risk, youll be going multiple times a week after your first bite.

I was expecting more flavor to the recommended picadillo empanadas but once mixed with the veggies and orange salsa was good. Fish taco was ok and tequila lime chicken taco: didnt taste nothing like the name. It had too much pepper. Overall I give it a 3 based on flavor..
