I have eaten here for years and the service in the sushi area has suffered badly. This used to be a 3-4 star but has fallen below average.***UPDATE**** 6/5/2011 They are improving with new waiters and remodel. Hope they continue to improve in areas of food quality. Food is good but could be great. Not there yet. ***Update 2/2017 Tae the previous owner has taken it back owner and the service and chiefs are now awesome. My favorite sushi place in Tyler and sets a high standard for any place I go. Five stars. This place is winning. #winning #notwhining #nowhiners

The mixed drinks here are superb! Try the black superman and the Asian zombie. The teppanyaki food here is always excellent and cooked just the way you like it. Great lobster, dangerously good fried rice, and service that will make you smile. The bartenders here also know what theyre doing. Best teppanyaki food in town. Shogun No. 1 is overall better than no. 2. So go to this one!

There is no other hibachi restaurant that beats this Shoguns. Ive tried hibachi restaurants in the Houston and Dallas area..even out of state places do not compare to this one. From the soup and salad, to the sushi, to the shrimp and steak everything is perfect and well worth the cost.

We go here for sushi and for one type you only find here.... its called the drunken tuna roll.... omg!!!! Its not on the menu....only certain chefs make it...ask for it... if available.... youre addicted in one bite. ;)

Tony and Mona are the best bartenders in Tyler. Sushi and drink prices ($4 Mai Tais among others)are unbeatable during Happpy Hour (4-6 Monday-Friday). The owner and staff are committed to a great all around experience.

Great food! Great show and interaction from cook! We (3 of us) were seated right away & served our soup and salad... however we waited over an hour before they started cooking & they were not busy.

The food is very good but very expensive. It cost $60.00 for me and my husband to eat plus a $10.00 tip or the cook. Luckily we got a very experienced cook that was friendly and very entertaining.

Me and My friend went here June 3 2017. The Table was neat and clean. The staff was very nice and kind. The food was amazing. But it is pricey but in my opinion its worth it. I will go here again.

Mona knows how to make a great Mai Thai! Food here is great, service is great, although expensive. Lobster tails are phenomenal with the fried rice.

If youre used to "big city" teppanyaki restaurants Shoguns can be a bit disappointing. It really depends on your previous teppanyaki experiences.
