Update: 6/13/2012 I have been coming to Breakers for 2 years now and I have ate countless meals that were great! I think the service is good, and they offer a different atmosphere that I prefer over the typical chain restaurant. I read all sorts of restaurant reviews on the internet, and I always see a handful of people, no matter how great the place is, who post negative comments about their experience anonymously. The fact of the matter is 100 or more people a day are in these joints, and are happy to have been there, and only a few are not pleased, but as the old adage goes "you cant please everyone". Because Im in the internet business, I wish that satisfied people would comment about their good experiences on restaurant reviews more often. It seems that the happy reviews are short and vague, but the unhappy reviews are usually very long winded, harsh, crude at times, posted anonymously, and will adversly effect the rating, but not accurately reflect the opinions of the majority of the patrons. I have found that people will use the internet to post messages that they would not say in person. It would be nice if negative opinions were expressed in a constructive way personally to the proprietors in an effort to raise awareness, and become a positive force in the future of the business operations. I guess my opinion is biased, though, because, I love seafood, have lived in CA, and work in the internet business. So, dont listen to me when I say, "I will be going to Breakers for a long time, and will be eating all kinds of good seafood, and will hear many rising musicians play there, and I feel comfortable eating there because its a place where everybody knows my name!". Decide for youself...see you there. My name is Rodney. Find me and Ill buy you a drink for your thoughts! 12/1/2011 I love the oysters on the half shell, and the mahi mahi. My wife loves the salmon or the tilapia & shrimp. We have been coming to breakers for a year now and have also tried the seafood medley, fried oysters, mushroom and swiss burger, and my kids love to come with us. We have seen several good performers here on saturday nights, and we plan on coming back soon. This is a great place to hang out for us, we are in our mid forties, and we have made several new friends here. Thank you Breakers!

We really expected to love this place but Im sorry to say that we were very disappointed. Almost everything was bland. We started with fried avacados (These might have been tasty with a little salt), the crab cakes (They were full of crabmeat & looked delicious but they had zero flavor, very disappointing), 6 fried oysters that were slightly under cooked & bland, & the lobster stuffed mushrooms which were the best appetizer that we received. These were tasty. For entrees we got the seafood sampler (everything was bland except the corn cakes which were tasty, the clams were overcooked & chewy, the fish had no flavor at all ), a bowl of clam chowder which was very good, a lobster tail (they were out of live lobsters) that was slightly chewy, & a California shrimp wrap that was the star of the show. It was delicious! The side of grilled zucchini & squash was a little cold but seasoned well. Did I mention that the wrap was delicious? It was a big hit with us. Take a cue from this dish & bring the other entrees up to the standard of flavors on this plate & it would be worth the money to eat here. We spent $115 for lunch & we felt that it was only worth about $35 AT THE MOST for the quality of food that we received. If we ever return, (which is doubtful) it will only be for the wrap, the clam chowder, & the lobster stuffed mushrooms. The restaurant itself is clean & very cute to look at. Such a shame, it could have been a great experience.

I have gone to Breakers on several occassions since I moved to Tyler a year ago. The last two times I have been disappointed in the food and the service!!! Went again last night and the waiter failed to tell me they were out of something I ordered until he brought the food out and obviously only brought me a poriton of the food I ordered. This was crazy!!! He asked me what I would like as a substitution and so I ordered something that was quite a bit less money. The ticket came and you guessed it, he charged me for what I originally ordered. We sat for a good 10 minutes before he brought the corrected ticket back to me. He was not rude about it but acted somewhat disgusted because I asked him to take it off my ticket. What the heck! He wasnt nearly as digusted as I was about not getting what I ordered. He also overcharged one of my friends by $4 on his ticket. He just paid it and we left. Did not have time to spend the night there waiting for him to correct his ticket!! Going out to eat is very expensive these days!! If I am going to go out and spend the money I expect good food and good service. Neither of which I have recieved the last three times I have been there. Want be going back for a while!!!

I have to say that I was so very disappointed and have never in my life had such a bad experience in any restaurant in my life like I did here. First of all the Waitress that so called waited on us was named Asia. OMG is all I can say. She has the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. She was rude, she bad mouthed the other servers and she made a point to tell the table next to us how she screwed over the Bartender by the name of Jeff. I have to tell you Jeff is the best thing that has ever happened to Breakers. She thought it was funny how she made like $200 that night and she only gave him $46 or something like that. I thought OMG I wonder if he knows. I want so bad to go back in and tell him because seriously that is just wrong. She is stealing from her co-workers and she is rude about it. I myself will never go back in there if I even see her on the floor working. I think the owners need to seriously think about their business and what to do. She is going to run them right in the ground. I spoke to a number of friends who go there and they said the same thing. She is just plain out right rude and should not be working there.

Went to Breakers for a holiday dinner. First off, the place smelled like a sour mop. After getting us seated, we order a drink. The waiter comes back and says they are out of drink mix, but they have another drink that was lemonADE and gin. NO, it was lemon JUICE and gin. No sweetness and very little flavor. We order from the menu which lists the ingredients for the entrees and the sides (if any). I order a dish called the pasta dish because I wanted an entree with no olives. The dish arrives about 30 minutes after ordering and it was riddled with olives and no bread or other side (the menu said it came with the vegetable of the day). The penne was gummy and the sauce was watery. I wanted to send my plate back immediately but my waiter didnt come back to our table until another server overheard my disappointment and told my waiter to check on our group. I will never go back.
