Very very disappointed with our lunch today, not only disappointed, but disgusted. We usually come here a couple of times a month, but todays visit will be my last. I ordered what we always get, a Geisha Roll, Pokemon Roll and an order of Japanese Rice. Unfortunately after 3 bites of my rice I bit into something that was hard, to my amazement and utter shock it was a nail, YES a FINGERNAIL. I made our waitress aware and she rushed off with the nail (otherwise I would have taken pictures as proof) after about 10 mins came back and said oh sorry would you like a new one, ummm NO. So she took the plate and went about her business. The manager nor anyone else in the establishment came to apologize, I had to ask to speak to the manager. When I spoke to her she said, YES sorry I talked to the kitchen manager and it wont happen again. Thats about it and walked away. I would have thought us being people who do go there a couple of times out of the month would have been better acknowledged. So they comped the dish, we paid the rest and we left. I didnt even eat the sushi I paid for I was so disgusted, but I still paid for it AND tipped our, what seemed to be too busy waitress. Also, the service this time was HORRIBLE took 12 mins for them to even come to my table. Needless to say, I will NOT be back.

The food is always good. I never have complaints about the food. However, the waitresses are not hesitant to come back and demand a tip after they have had bad attitudes with you throughout the whole time. I get that sometimes, people have bad days. But do you seriously feel the need to come back to the table and yell at a customer because they didnt tip you or you feel they didnt tip you what you WANTED? One of my friends paid cash and left early, the waitress came back and told me: "Oh, the tip is not included on the check." Im like, umm okay... and she responds by asking me if I can call my friend back and tell him to drive back so he can tip her. The hell kind of person does that?? Another occasion was the older woman came up and started yelling at another friend of wife yelling at her, "YOU NEED TO TIP ME! YOU DIDNT LEAVE ANYTHING!" My wife explained to her that she had been very rude to us and she responded by saying, "YEAH BUT I HAVE TO PAY THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK (allegedly) I MAKE NO MONEY! YOU NEED TO TIP ME!" VERY unprofessional. NEVER going back. Its a shame because the drinks there are great too. Management is going to lose their customers because of their staff. The only one that is worth a tip is the younger girl there who is very sweet.

I had been going once a week. I have a soy allergy and they were good about letting me sub out in the maki combo. (getting a roll already on the list with no sauce and seaweed instead of soy paper.) Today I went in and they refused and said it was against house rules. I told her that I had been going almost once a week for a month.and that I had an allergy. She said no its all pre made u cant sub out. Then she explained that in the maki combo u get a half roll so the other half.of my roll would be wasted. I said fine, give me the whole roll and ill only.pick out two options. She said that wouldnt work because the roll had five.pieces and you would get 3 each so six total. I said fine ill just take less. She refused and said she would have to charge me extra... Even though I would be getting less sushi (11 total pieces as opposed to twelve.) I wasnt asking for anything extra. Seaweed paper instead of soy paper and no sauce are not huge requests, especially If u have an allergy and especially since they had done it with no.problems for over a month before. My friends and I walked out and wont be returning.

I have been to quite a few sushi places around town, I would easily give Aka 4 stars. The interior is open-plan, modern an good taste (I like the wall made of black pebbles and white sofas in the booths). The menu is pretty much standard compared to other places. They however tweaked it a bit and added udon soups, steaks and more exotic appetizers. The waiters are OK. We were serviced by a Thai (or Taiwan) girl, many of the personnel were from China and SE Asia. So this is as close you can get to "Japanese" in Houston. The place is primarily popular among local offices (BP, Shell hi-rises are right across the street). So it is packed lunch time.

The restaurant staff were exchanging the filters of the vents near our table the entire time when we were having lunch there on Saturday 11/7/2015. They didnt cover the tables or dishes under the ladder or clean them afterwards. If they didnt care about the cleanness of the tables/dishes, I couldnt imagine how they handled food in the kitchen... In terms of food, we ordered the Terra bento (ginger pork, veggie and shrimp tempura, stir-fried veggies, cooked rice, and orange) and Tonkatsu ramen and they tasted meh... Pork was way overdone and dry while the ramen soup left us thirsty afterwards (maybe MSG?) Will never return.

Fist impressions are defiantly what matter. On the outside it seems like typical Asian restaurant. Yet, the staff is wonderful, great atmosphere, the decorator did an awesome job here. You wouldnt say this is a restaurant you are "use" to eating at. The Tea was... ok.. Other than that, Loved the steak terryiaki bowl, the rice wasnt the best, but descent. It is however fairly more than I expected, Itll be about $70+ for 2 people here. (My gf ordered lots of sushi, I hate sushi, but one was actually really good) Id recommend this place for sure, as I will be returning.

I was really craving Ramen, unfortunately this was the only place nearby open for lunch. I was highly dissapointed by the ramen, it lacked flavor, the broth was very creamy but I did not enjoy it nor finish it. Maybe their sushi rolls or other dishes taste good but I was not a fan of the Ramen. Service was friendly, and the decor of the restaurant was lovely. However I doubt I will come back.

I went on Friday night with my wife and our 2 years old daughter. I love the decoration and atmosphere. The food was delicious and sea food are fresh as it could possibly be. Different day of the week they have different of crowd. Friday is definitely good for you and your colleague, and Saturday is perfect for you and your family. Said by the manager. I would highly recommend this place.
