I definitely feel this place have a lot left to be desire. My friend recommended me to try this place out, but I held it off because Ive been spoiled by Uchi (Im sorry Ive done wrong, I will never bad mouth you again). I have reunited with my love for Uchi and Kuu is just not up to par. Parking is a bit confusing in the garage because it says it is valet, but no guy was there to valet your car. I was fine with that anyhow, but they need to remove the unnecessary sign. The hostess greeted us prompty and showed us to our table when we walked in (we had reservation at 7PM). First glace at the menu, I was truly impressed and wanted to read everything to see what I wanted. I split a meal with my other friend and we order a variation of menu items. We tried: - Wagyu Beef Sashimi $45: This would have better paired with the hot rocks because it has a lot fat so you can cook it better with the hot stone. I like the pairing with the citrus which cancelled out the fattiness but its like youre eating pastrimi...cold and fatty. - Foie Gras: By the time they brought it to our table, the temperature of the foie gras was cold because of the thin cut. It was not what I expected so Im not as impressed by it. - Creamy Rock Shrimp: It was melted cheddar cheese tossed with shrimp. The shrimp was cooked well, but the taste was just okay - Uni: Its buttery, but the grade of it is not high quality. Given it is only $9 per piece, but it doesnt have the firm texture that looks like tongue. The color on this was a nice golden yellow so it is still pretty fresh. I didnt ask where the uni is from, but I am not interested since its not that great. - Otoro (medium and wrong cut): Its okay, not too crazy about it because its not the right cut, but I do appreciate them letting us know that so we wouldnt expect it at the otoro quality. The manager said it would be half price since its not the right cut which was very nice and honest of him. - Poseidon: Where to start? Definitely sounds good on paper, but too much going on in real life. Different types of fish in the roll and you cant distinguish each piece. I usually dont bother with rolls, but since its a new place I figured I try it out. Not impress, wouldnt order this. -Rin: equivalent to a shrimp shrimp tempura roll. The imitation crab taste overwhlems the shrimp tempura so you can barely taste any of it. Sliced jalepeno adds flavor, but disappears quickly. Wouldnt order this either. -Japanese Breakfast: Sauce is bland, pork was overcooked -Hot Rocks: Not a good version, I tried adding garlic butter, ponzu sauce, lime...even soysauce. It is just bland. They need to sprinkle salt and pepper or something. Also, the cut of the meat is way too lean for the hot rocks. In total, we spent $210 with tip which isnt bad, but I dont feel like its worth the money. All in all, will I go back again? Probably not. Will I recommend this place? Probably not. I tried it out and I know it isnt for me.

My husband and I came here a few months ago and it was outstanding so we decided to try it again. It was even better the second time!! Cody was our server and was absolutely amazing. The wine, the atmosphere, the service, the food, EVERYTHING was PERFECT! We travel all over the world and get amazing sushi, this is truly some of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is very inviting, Very good lighting, modern and sexy. We started off with a bottle of Cabarnet. Which was great! 2014 Jamieson Ranch Double Lariat was the name if Im not mistaken. Great bottle of wine. The sushi chef then prepared us a complementary appetizer, not sure what is was, but WOW it was incredible. We then ordered the Foie Gras, Kanpaccio, Hamaccio, shishito peppers, and garlic edamame to start. PHENOMENAL is every way possible! Then we had the AMAZING JUNE roll, out of this world!!! We had the Truffle Suzuki, which was amazing as well. We had several pieces of INSANELY DELICIOUS fresh that had jut come in from Japan house before...Im so upset I cannot remember the names but they were a daily special and we are SO happy Cody told us about them. We ended up ordering several of them.... fantastic in every way. We ended the evening with an amazing mousse dessert and left super happy. We will come back again and again. If you have not been, you need to go asap. I promise you will not be disappointed. This place makes my husband and I so incredibly happy and we crave it all of the time!!!

We went last night for my uncles birthday, and wow, I was so impressed. Every ingredient we had was fresh, from the seafood to the vegetables to the meat. And the flavors were perfectly paired. I truly enjoyed the meal. Will say that it is hard to find, so be aware. Its in the same center as the hospital, but it doesnt face the I-10 feeder or Gessner. You have to park in the garage and walk to find it. LOVED Seared Scallop - my favorite. Scallops perfectly prepared, then the crunch of the mini okra and mushrooms. Delish. Truffle Suzuki Roll - loved the complex flavor. No soy needed! Shishito Peppers - a great appetizer to share Butternut Miso Soup - so unique and quite tasty! REALLY TASTY Kuu Roll - the surprising fresh taste of the citrus and pear was nice Berkshire Pork - a very nice flavor and well prepared Tuna Lobster w/ Lotus Chips - this was a birthday surprise and Im so glad they brought it out. I wouldnt have ordered it, but the presentation was wonderful and the flavors were very fun There was nothing that we had off the menu that wasnt good. Id definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Ive never been so dissatisfied with the service at a sushi restaurant and Ive been most in Houston. I have been here twice. The first time I asked the waitress for a cup of soup and she denied to serve it to me unless it was the entire bowl, BUT if I got a bento box, it included a cup of soup. Just sell me the damn cup of soup! The second time, I wanted to order the same SOUP I wanted to try my first time there, but this time I was going to purchase the bowl to go and they also denied to sell to-go, they said that they didnt have to-go containers. I asked myself, "Then do they also not allow their customer to take their leftovers." This place has pretty ridiculous rules. I now understand why it stays empty.

This place is super JUDGEMENTAL! My sister called 3 weeks in advance to book our reservation for the restaurants 2 year anniversary special. It was supposed to be a special night with my family and obviously to celebrate with the restaurant for their anniversary. Well, we got there and the hostess told us that we werent on the reservation list. So we asked if there was still extra seating for us, the hostess said she would check. She then proceeds to say "You know its $50 right?". Im thinking, so you think we cant afford it! Thats when we just decided to go eat next door at Churrascos, an awesome Brazilian steakhouse. Thanks for judging us KUU. We hope your hostess doesnt ever treat others that way.
