Somebody said the service was friendly enough to not hate it. I dont think so, they are really nice but the food was terrible, and the price was very high. I ordered a chiken katsu that was over fried and breaded. Spicy tuna was more sour like lemon than spicy, if I had some salt I would had some tequila shots with it. I also ordered 2 eel dishes a caterpillar roll and the eel sushi, eel tasted like it was microwaved, and under flavored, the avocado was not ripe yet still kinda hard. The tempura was over fried just like the chicken katsu and the spider roll was decent, but surprisingly not fried enough. I also paid close to 70$ for two (tip included, food wasnt good but thats not the servers fault).

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the reviews made the place sound awful, and I felt that the quality of the sushi was very good compared to similarly priced sushi places. The atmosphere was pleasant, though the booths were a little uncomfortable, if you are a larger person you may not be able to fit comfortably (or at all) in many of their seats. Some of the sushi was very cheap, and very good, and some was about average priced, and just okay in quality. If you like sushi, but tend to order cheaper rolls, then this is definitely your place. Their combos are very generous as well.

Just awful. The waitresses were friendly enough and I didnt hate the place but having Japanese owners isnt enough to save it. It just felt like the chef didnt care. Its a bad sign when the tea is the best thing about a meal. It was good. The rest of the meal was downhill. - Tired sushi, mushy poor quality rice and woeful cooking. - Tasteless tough gyutan - Inedibly over-sauced nasi dengaku We couldnt even finish some dishes. They forgot one order and I was sitting there for 10 minutes dreading that theyd remember and bring it out. It all just felt like the chef didnt care.

The most authentic Japanese experience in Houston. The food is reasonably priced and perfectly seasoned. The white rice is not the highest quality but the vegetables and side dishes are. The service is impeccable. The moment I finished my salad, out came the soup. As soon as I was finished with my lunch, the check was brought. Overall, a fabulous experience. Try the grilled sanma (mackerel pike) for lunch if you like chargrilled fish with lots of bones. If youve been to Japan, you know why little fish with bones are a good thing!

I started eating sushi in the 90s and had yet to find a place that served the quality of sushi that I fell in love until I found Sasaki! The head chef is amazing at his craft and takes the time to make sure each cut of fish is perfect. Add to that the perfectly seasoned rice served at just the right temp and you have and irresistible culinary experience. The rolls are equally as amazing and it is obvious that the chef is classically trained to take pride in each piece that is served as they do in Japan.

You will not find any higher quality in Houston (or most of the US for that matter and, yes, I mean California, too!). This place is authentic in every way and does not succumb to americano crap rolls or fake crab. No fusion music or habachi flipping chefs (never experienced this in Tokyo and I dont like to here). For the highest quality cuts of specialty seafood, this is the place. You will likely be one of the few round-eyes in the place, but dont worry they speak English and Japanese.

Since the owner moved 5-6 years ago, the quality has been disappointment. I used to go there every New Years Eve for o-Seichi meal ($250 for two) and enjoyed every bit of it. Now, food gets salty and tastes like Chinese dishes. If you look for authentic Japanese, I would suggest Nippon on Montrose and Richmond, instead. My Japanese friends and I have been going there since 2000. They close Mondays.

Im a huge fan of Japanese food, but this place is just aweful! Their sushi was not fresh enough, not tasty at all and they even charged for pickled radish, 3.95! Normally, Japanese restaurants owned by Japanese people would do much better than this. We tried another Japanese restaurant, Teppay, on Westheimer before and were very satisfied with them. Anyway, Im not going to go to Sasaki again.

Every course is so carefully designed and prepared. I enjoy very much of the Japanese food here in Sasaki. The people there are very nice and friendly. They would explain the art of eating Japanese food to me and just by watching the way they prepare food, so clean, healthy. No wonder its got several blue ribbon awards of Houston. "Sasaki is a must try", Japanese restaurant in Houston.

Sasaki is great place to get fresh Sushi made by the Sushi chef right there. The fish has always been fresh and the delicate flavors balance very well with the perfectly cooked rice. The sushi is perfectly sliced and portioned. I also enjoy the soba here. The subtly flavored broth and perfectly cooked Soba is very enjoyable as well.

Drinks are $5+ for a 12oz beer as well as sushi prices above what they should be. This place just wants to gouge you and take your money. I headed 1/2 mile down the street had better sushi and 16oz Asahi for $5 in a frozen mug. I will not waist my money on overpriced items, I hope you dont either.

This place is the best! The portions are extremely generous and the food is delicious. I got the chicken teriyaki combo plate and it included soup, salad and dessert and spicy salmon rolls. I was extremely worth it and I definitely recommend coming here.

I went there and ordered fried rice and some eel sushi. The fried rice came after 30 minutes and even after I finished the rice the eel wasnt there. When it finally did come it was burned......I have to say that was a first..burned sushi.

If you cant go to Japan, come here. Best sushi I have had in 20 years. Not sure how anyone could rate this place less than 5 stars but those who know sushi will know that this is easily the best sushi in Houston.

Very nice and quiet little sushi joint. Fresh and delicious food with a courteous and attentive wait staff. Would hardly notice it driving by but definitely worth stopping in.

Three things to love about Sasaki: fresh sushi and amazing sushi rice, quiet setting perfect for one-on-one dining, and the sushi chef.
