This place is a dudes bar. Let your ladies grab a table and chat about woman stuff, and the guys can grab a seat by the darts and talk like men. Play a game of darts, smoke a cigar, then play some more darts; this time drunk. [Dont drink and drive. Be safe!] The Old Monk is classic. Great tables, great neighborhood (at times), and a great selection of beers. They had Magners too! Thats awesome. Cant find that stuff anywhere. They also have a great selection of other beers, and looks like a great "regular" place. The service was fantastic, the beer [the choices alone!] were awesome, and we had a great chill night celebrating a friends birthday. Id definitely recommend it!

Great food, great alcohol, great service, great atmosphere. Not really anything bad I can say about this place. Kinda wish the staff had been a little more engaging, a little more open to conversation, but at the same time I understand they were busy. No smoking inside, but its allowed out on the patio; sometimes the smoke gets inside which is unpleasant, but not deal breaking. Place has won several awards, and its within easy walking distance of other bars and hotels, which is an awesome bar crawl setup.

The Old Monk is a Belgium style Pub that has good food, a great beer selection, and a cool atmosphere complete with a covered patio. The location is convenient, but parking can be a challenge as the area in which it is located is very popular. It is one of my favorite places in Dallas to have dinner and a beer with friends or to go out with my wife on a date. Be sure to ask your server what beer they have on their rotator taps as they are usually great and generally not available in Texas that often.

Went to the bar 1/21/2012 and had a waiter named Lauren. Everything was decent but when the checks came I signed my credit card receipt and everything and gave her a 30% tip in cash. (not for her service just because I have been in her situation before as a waiter) When I got home and looked at my bank statement she had charged a extra 20% on my check after I had signed it etc. After asking my friends if she had done the same to them they verified yes she had. Stay away from Lauren with the glasses!

I totally disagree with the previous statements. If you notice the charge, it will be a pending charge and banks will pre-authorize an amount to make sure you actually have the funds to cover your bill. I have NEVER had any issues with Lauren and a will be happy to frequent The Old Monk and sit in Laurens section. I advise you to wait a day or two when the charge has actually cleared to make an assumption that you are being overcharged.

The beer list, the bar food, the aged decor and dark wooded dim-lit space is the perfect beginning or end to a night of walking on Henderson. The brunch and late night specials are varied and the staff is very friendly and casual. I recommend the avacado chicken sandwich for lunch, or the slider version if youre with a group. Also have to recommend their black widow beer cocktail. Seriously refreshing and delicious.

This is one of the finest bars, if not the finest in Knox-Henderson. There was great service, a great selection of brews, tasty food, lively atmosphere, and beautiful classy clientele having great laughs and a great time. My first visit was a decade ago and I keep coming back here for the experience and it never disappoints. Great establishment.

This is a phenomenal place.. cant say anything bad about it.. very large selection of beer and liquor. Great service. Austin and Max were the best as far as helping us out with trying different beer and serving.. I actually told them the wrong thing to order an they changed it out without second thought.. must go to in my book.

Love this place. Great pub to visit with friends! But note no conversation can be done here - screaming only as music is extremely laud. Also smoking is allowed on patio - when bunch of people smoke its hard to eat. Prices are high. Atmosphere is great and food is delicious. Bunch of drinks they have but I dont drink.

Very impressed. Food 5 stars, atmosphere 5 stars, service 5 stars. I came for Saturday brunch last minute with a friend. I wasnt sure what to expect but the food had a little bit of a home-like soulfoul taste to it. I enjoyed it all. Not to mention the prices are very affordable. Its a yes from me. I will be back.

They definitely have all the best beers and their food is great too. Sometimes it can take a while for the server to bring drinks and refills, but that doesnt keep us from hanging out there at least monthly. I like that they change their beer regularly so you can experiment. Great hangout.

The inside is very dark, but the outdoor seating is great. Its a cozy place to grab a beer or a drink. They have a large selection of beers, and offer free wifi. Gathering with large groups can be difficult because this place gets busy, but the cozy vibe makes you squeeze your way in.

The food was good. The Gypsy Bourbon grilled chicken sandwich was a lot. Enough for a full belly. Now its not the healthiest but if you want to splurge then this can do it well. The Bloody Mary was a nooooooo but our server was super fast, very accommodating and chill.

The Old Monk had a really good fish & chips! The craft beer on draft was a good selection, fast service, great food and no complaints during my visit. If youre allergic to smoke, I would go during an "off peak" time. The inside didnt smell like smoke either.

Always a solid, albeit LOUD (the "background" music is insanely loud for a casual bar in the middle of the afternoon) place. Great selection of beer, delicious food in a fantastic building that actually does remind you of a true Belgian beer place.

One of my all-time favorite places for pub fare in Dallas. Beer fans will not be disappointed. Fish and chips, french onion soup, cheeseboards Guiness beef stew. They have all the pub classics, all done very well. Very friendly staff as well.

My lady and had a bowl of beef stew I ask the Mgr. for some Corn bread and she said they dont service corn bread with their beef stew, and said I was the first one to ask. That was not good here in Dallas ..That need to change.

Not my kind of crowd, college and post graduation demographic mainly. Good amount of outdoor seating if the weather is right. The drinks are strong and the price is fair once you flag down someone to take your order.

The atmosphere is fantastic, the beer is cold, and the food is amazing. Ive never, ever had a bad experience here. Sunday brunch, burgers, mussels, sausages, Guinness stew, roast beef sandwich, are all top notch.
