Ive given this review some time to stew over 24 hours and actually made my own steaks at home for dinner tonight. With that in mind, I have no issue in saying SER gave me one of the worst meals Ive ever had in Dallas. Where do I begin? Lets start with the ridiculous wait time. I dont mind waiting for a good meal, but the time to order to apps and steaks and have them arrive to the table should not take 1.5 hours in any situation for ANY steakhouse. We were not given any updates and had to flag our waiter down, who finally told us we would receive our food "in two minutes". Obviously, the kitchen was aware of the delay, but there was no attempt to communicate to us or even sate us with more bread or drinks. Like I said earlier, I have no qualms with waiting for a good meal, but this was the driest medium rare steak Ive ever had. I honestly saw no juice come out of the steak when I pressed it with a fork. Im actually impressed that someone was able to cook a steak a standard medium rare that was not juicy at all. In addition to lacking any moistness whatsoever, it also lacked flavor. For a 45 day aged ribeye, all I could taste is sea salt. Despite being upsold on lobster bisque when I asked our waiter for his recommendation, this was one of the most boring variants ever. I can easily say the lobster bisque I had at my friends wedding reception the night before was significantly better. The bread was served at room temperature. In terms of sides, the mac and cheese was somewhat bland and not very warm at all, our roasted Brussels sprouts were under seasoned, the tater tots tasted like they were frozen. Not everything was terrible as I thought their preparation Hen of the Woods mushrooms was good and their creamed corn with popcorn was also notably unique and tasty. So, an inexplicable wait time and abysmal food. What else could merit such a poor review from someone that generally rates almost any institution decently? Atrocious service and management. It honestly took a friend about 10 minutes to flag our waiter down to order wine. As I mentioned earlier, that same waiter had to be flagged down in order for us to find out where our food was. Given any significant delay, I dont feel its particularly unusual for a restaurant to provide updates to their paying customers. I feel like this is something a restaurant manager could have noted and instructed to his team. At the end of the meal, we all immediately asked for our checks as many of us couldnt even finish the entrees that we ordered. Our waiter told us that the manager supposedly wanted to offer us free deserts, but at that point, I honestly didnt want to wait for some awful dessert to take 45 minutes to come out and disappoint me any further. In spite of the waiters statement about the managers "grand" gesture, we did not have anyone come out to our table to try to apologize to us. The waiter provided no explanation for the delay in our food, but did comp the few drinks that were ordered. I will reiterate something that other reviewers noted in that the view from our table was quite extraordinary. It is rare to get a view of Dallas like we received, seeing the skyline and the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge altogether like that. If only anything else from SER couldve matched that spectacular view. If anything, its a reminder that Dallas is a great food city and much better food is going to be found anywhere else.

Atmosphere A++ Entertainment WT Greer was awesome, as was the city view. That was the best of it. Greeting upon arrival was exceptional, no wonder as the rest of the experience was a downhill run. I have had better service at Chilis. The Bar was not crowded and it took at least 10 minutes to get a drink for myself and my wife. Which she was served first and mine a simple scotch on the rocks took another 5 minutes...then came dinner with the disappearing waiter who failed on 2 tries to bring refills at the same time. Note we were not drinking from a table side bottle of wine, which we could have filled our own glasses on demand no matter if the glass empty or half full. After skipping my refill the first time past the waiter informed us he couldnt bring another glass of wine because they have to monitor guest consumption and we had to finish our current glass. Wine and high end scotch at upscale restaurants in any city are generally a slight over pour, not an ounce under poured. Disappointed in the demeanor of waiter concerning the next glass, he should have noted the request and delivered when our glasses were close to empty and spare us the extra information, thats not what he is there for. My steak tasted fine and was cooked correctly however the presentation was an awful mess. I ordered the rib-eye for a number of reasons. They taste best, I am a rib-eye expert, I was told it came with asparagus and potatoes. At $64 this rib eye should have been one of the best Ive ever consumed, what is up with the albino asparagus and potato (singular) that were on the plate? They were a mushy mess and hardly there. My wifes scallops were cooked correctly but at that price point hardly more than an appetizer as her entree included no sides... (the scallops also not up to what would be considered a"divers" scallop as stated on the menu) Oh and where was the bread...no bread? Price Point: If I choose to dine at an upscale restaurant which certainly at your price point you must consider yourself to be, I would expect all parts of the experience to be a home run. Our experience started out with great anticipation with the fantastic welcome and ended with an unfortunate thud. Two things are your saving grace, the wonderful entertainment and city view. Without exception If you dont do something about price point/value and include some properly prepared non-mushy potato (singular) and asparagus on more than only the one entrée (Rib-eye $64.00). Your restaurant is headed for failure. Sers Entrée price point should either lowered with your current alacart menu or change to a non alacart menu and include some substantial side dishes or at least a choice. Your alacart menu pricing did appear to be in line with most other upscale restaurants but entrées at your price point should be world class not Trail Dust. Note to manager: You should respond to your clients when they send you an email...I to date Tuesday March 17 @ 9:00am still have not heard a response to my personally sent directly to you email.

I REALLY wanted to like this place.... The good: GREAT VIEW, Nice room. The bad: WAY, WAY over-priced. $300 for 2 people. Prices on menu were different than what we were charged, Server wasnt knowledgeable, Steak was WAY overcooked, Food was forgettable. The recorded music playing was really bad crooner-jazz. I called ahead for reservations, for my wife and my 1st anniversary, so we didnt need to wait. When we were on our way, we were hung up in the unpredictable Dallas traffic. I called them to let them know we were arriving 15 minutes late. The girl on the phone was not very friendly, and I felt very rushed when I asked for directions to the restaurant. The server was hard to understand. Horrible listening skills. Not knowledgeable. She had to go back to the kitchen 3 times to tell us what was on "The Board" appetizer. I still dont know, and doubt she does. Th chicken liver mousse was horrible, and Im still burping it up 13 hours later. The duck prosciutto was bland, and tasted like thin salted straps of leather. There were large pieces of bone in the pate. When my $65.00 steak was delivered, they did not ask me to cut into it. I ordered Medium Rare, and it was Well Done. The cream corn tasted like someone just threw a can of roasted corn into some heavy whipping cream. My biggest complaint is that the $13.00 glasses of wine ended up being $22.50 on the bill. Since it was our anniversary, I didnt want to waste time complaining to the manager, but in retrospect, I should have just sent the steak back and left. Again, I REALLY wanted to love this place, and I dont mind spending the money if its an good experience. I rarely write bad reviews, but I cant in good conscience give this more than 1 star. If the $300 tab were more like $100, it may be worth 3 stars.
