Five star food, two star service. Old School is in this great old house which has been converted into a restaurant, but they left all the original walls intact, so there are great little nooks and corners, giving the inside a cozy, funky feel which I love, and the food is amazing. Ive never had a bad meal here. That said, we had a really shabby service experience here this last weekend. When we arrived, we walked up to the bar to look at the drink specials and wait for the rest of our party, and the waitress told us to sit down. Three times in about four minutes. Yes, dear. We know to sit down. Were an incomplete party at the moment, and were looking over the bar specials because we want to give you our money. And theres barely another soul in this place. Then the other two in our group arrived, and we gave them the walk-through so they could see the place since its such a fun restaurant, and the waitress, again, told us to sit down. Three times. In the four minutes it took us to look around. Yeah, we were meandering around aimlessly and checking the place out, but there were maybe four other customers in the entire place we werent in the way, and we really didnt warrant being fussed at. Plus, she made a snarky comment - within earshot, I might add - as we were heading back outside to finally sit down. She was much more friendly once we were contained - I just wish she hadnt been quite so high-strung about getting us to take a seat. All that aside, the pizza totally redeems it. This isnt fancy, artisan anything-style pizza thats trying to blow your mind with its creativity, authenticity, or innovation - this is straight-up, incredibly delicious, standard, classic American pizza-pie. Flavorful, pillowy crust (theyve got a thin crust option, too), great topping combinations, plenty of delicious, stringy, melty cheese, and prices so reasonable youll want to order the larger size so you can snack on the leftovers for a few days. My personal favorite is the Mediterranean (artichokes, spinach, garlic, and a bunch of other delicious stuff), but there are plenty of great veggie toppings and you can play with substitutions as well. Ive also eaten here with plenty of omnivores, and everyone has been impressed. Theyve also got a full bar, which is nice (although dont loiter around it unless you want to be snapped at by the waitress) - the pours are inconsistent (I swear my drinks got stiffer with every round), but the happy hour is decent, and theyve got some interesting draft selections. The patio is also very nice (picnic tables!), and theyve got a stage where they sometimes showcase local music acts. Overall a top notch food establishment - just be aware that you might wind up being waited on by a presumably sleep-deprived, cranky college gal. :-)

Found this place on a search on google for "good local bars" and this was further at the bottom of the list. i have no idea why..went here on a Friday night around 6:30pm and sat at the bar. I have to say this place as won me over as a customer! basic info: Its a bar and pizza joint inside of a home that has been renovated. Totally a collage student atmosphere but i saw families with kids here and the staff are super friendly. food info: They serve pizza mainly. and i gotta say..its darn good pizza. if you go for the first time just get a basic cheese pizza. Youll thank me later! They do have chicken strips and a basic burger and some general bar food items. but the pizza is out of this world. beer!: Mostly a beer bar, they have a ton of beers on tap and some basic bottled beers (miller, coors, bud, dos XX) and they have a lot of options on stuff like hard ciders, wheats and lagers. my shiner was cold and tasted great. Guys at the bar definitely know how to pour a beer. liquor?: Yes, the do have generic liquor and shots and some basic common mixed drinks (hurricanes, bloody marys, capt and cola) honestly the shots selection blew me away, collage student style shots. (surfer on acid, buttery nips ect) Cons: As a first timer, the parking is odd since some of it is around back and some of it is used for the law firm next door only. the other issue is as a first timer seating was odd. it was a seat yourself but the interior is small and tables are made for groups mostly. Outdoor seating is more plentiful. I didnt see any menus on tables, the bar tender gave us one but im not sure how long you have to wait to get one at a normal seat. Final remarks: I really liked the bar though, you can see multiple tvs and all the menus are posted on whiteboards behind the bar for you to read. bartender is their and does not seem to have a issue serving. attitudes are great and atmosphere was good! plan to come back sometime! Remember! always tip your barkeep! :-)

So we wanted to see the fireworks tonight. We are new to the area, and my husband got off, the area was packed, so we decided to stop and eat dinner here and hopefully at the end there would be fireworks. When we walked up to the back, we went in, and there is a big sign that says Seat Yourself. I suggested to my husband to go outside even though its hot. A girl in no uniform told us there were fans, so out we went. The fans were off, after fifteen minutes, we could see a server in the window but no one talked to us. We left and walked to the parking lot and quickly realized the only other place to eat was McDonalds. So we walked back. My husband went into the bar to get a menu, stood there for five minutes, both bartenders the uninformed girl and a guy looked at him and walked to the back. He grabbed a menu, came back outside where we waited an additional twenty minutes. The outside server came out, talked to two other tables, ignored us and went back in. Finally I had enough, I went into the bar, the waitress that ignored us and both bartenders were standing there. After five minutes the waitress asked me in a HIGHLY annoyed voice, "Whats up?" I asked for a manager and the guy held up his hand and the outside server told me that they act as managers when the managers arent there. I said never mind and left.

The manager and owners are really rude. There is no sign outside informing me that I am not allowed to bring outside food or drinks. As I was seated, the waitress still DID NOT tell me I was not allowed to bring in a drink. When I was away from my table, the manager apparently had walked by our table, taken my drink and threw it away even though my friend had said she would take the drink and place it in my car. When I came back to the table, I asked to speak with the manager because I have NEVER encountered such behavior before. I went on to speak with the waitress, manager and then owner. They spoke with me so rudely and told me that they would not pay for my drink. After threatening to sue them, the owner paid me for my drink and asked me to leave and never come back otherwise he would charge me for trespassing. I would not have cared this much if they would have just ASKED me to throw away my drink. I respect the fact that no outside food and drinks are allowed only if there was a sign or at least the waitress informing me that I cannot have it. I will NEVER EVER go back here. Plus, the food wasnt that great.
