We were seated at a rear table in a corner (which in itself wasnt bad, but added to the treatment we received, it was abhorrent) by a waitress that didnt smille. She was like a robot. She asked what we wanted to drink before allowing us to get settled and look at our menus. After bringing us our drinks we asked her to give us a few minutes because we had kids with us. She stayed away so long until we had to ask another server to help us. Then our server came back and received our orders. Then we saw no more of her until our food came and she seemed unsure of who ordered what. She left abruptly upon putting our food on the table, not asking if everything was alright. I ordered cornbread but got a roll, but she left so quickly that I was unable to tell her. Afterwards no one came to our table to see if we needed anything else. Finally, we got the attention of a server who had been dutifully waiting on her guests. She reluctantly came over and I told her what I needed. When our server brought the bread it was rectangular bread in a small round bowl. Because the bowl was too small the bread was sticking out and laying again her hand. To add insult to injury, she reached her hand in my plate and picked up the roll. This to me was very rude and distasteful. She should have asked me to pass it to her because I had no intention of eating it, and I hope she had no intention of serving it to another unknowing diner. As much as I dont like playing the race card, I am going to do so now. There were three races of people in our group. We were seated at the back as if we would contaminate the all white clientele, or would cause to leave. We received very poor service while other guests were being promptly serviced. Not once were we asked if we needed anything and our server seemed not to want to wait on us. I will not go to this restaurant again and if you are a person of color beware. There is no excuse for bad service. My husband generally gives very good tips. I hope this time was an exception because the server didnt even do her job. She should not be in a position such as she has. I will be apologizing for weeks for suggesting my family eat at the Southern Recipes Grill.

Unfortunately, this is one of the most overrated restaurants I have EVER dined at. The food is adequate, which rates a one=star only. But the server was rude, never attended to our needs except when we complained to the manager, and acted as if she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. By habit, I always tip generously for good service and advise the manager. But this server rated, and re- ceived, a tip of ZERO. Her apology was halting and insincere. My wife and our dinner companions are minorities, which may or may have not played a part behind our shabby treatment. Having dined out often and seen all standards of service, this was about the worst. This server in my humble opinion should be severely reprimanded or discharged. Do not go to this restaurant if you want a quality dining experience.

First, the raving review I got from a friend was totally overblown. Im not sure if she just doesnt have any taste buds or whether I was being overly picky. Everything was so bland I felt like I was visiting my grandmother in the nursing home. No salt, pepper, seasoning..nada. The batter on the chicken fried steak was gummy...as in soggy. The waitress was really nice and the place was fine as far as decor and interior. What you would typically expect it to have. It does have a "family" type of environment, adequate seating and the service was spot on but I wont be revisting based on the quality of food.

I just ate at this place less than a hour ago and I have to say I am almost in shock at how poor the food is here! I ordered the Monterrey chicken and it was AWFUL! My salad looked like they pretty much dumped the lettuce right out of the bag onto the plate. The food has absolutely no flavor, its like I went out for dinner at a nursing home. Ive eaten better meals in chow halls. Its like they have the people from Worst Cooks in America back in the kitchen. Bobby Flay needs to come rescue this place! Service was mediocre at best. Giving this place one star is being more than generous.

I have been driving by this place for 4 years now.I have always wanted to try it out. So I had a friend come visit this past weekend from out of town.I mentioned this place ,so we dexuded to give it a try.she had the salmon and I had the chicken fried steak....no disappointment on the food service was good and price resonable.I gave it 4 star because I asked for cranberry juice which I got ,but when I finished it she just took the cup and didnt ask if I wanted more.good thing like had water.........

Great food and service. Fantastic breakfast options, and a breakfast special served on weekends until 2pm for $7, eggs were done perfectly. The restaurant appears to be a renovated house, nothing fancy. Waitresses and hostesses are very nice and attentive. Ive been here at least 10 times. Chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken and other southern foods available. Their grilled pork chops are fantastic.

Very rude customer service. After being seated, our orders taken, they ask us to get up and move for a "larger party." Now mind you, they had open table to move together, another round table they could have simply bussed, and a whole other banquet room. No, we dont guest this restaurant every Sunday morning, but we do visit often enough. We left after being moved for regularly frequent customers.

I have worked in customer service for many years including the culinary industry and what the manager Sully did was unbelievable. The hours stated very clearly open until 4pm. I arrived with my party approximately 3:20pm and the doors were locked. I called while in the parking lot and Sully said he decided to close early. This is a total lack of respect for customers as well as their time.

From appetizers to your main meal, could not find anything wrong that we tried. Chicken fried steak was tender and delicious with not a thick layer of batter like you see at other places. The food was plentiful so we couldnt try out the desserts but they sounded good. Drove from South Arlington to North Collins and it was worth it!

This place is awesome. Entrees are $6-$12, with the majority being under $10. All entrees come with two sides, a dinner salad and a roll!!! It is a ton of food and all of it is awesome! Try the Chicken Santa Fe. Sauteed Chicken Breast with grilled tomatoes, avocado, and a white wine sauce. Its my favorite!

Waitstaff was ok, but it could be better... The buns on my burger were soggy , the meat patty was burnt... I do believe they need a cook that takes pride in what they do...someone with knowledge in the food industry.. I didnt complain to management ... I was hungry and dont believe in wasting food.
